Episode 32 was super messy, but it also highlighted the hypocrisy of the Six Sects and how not united they are. Mu Qingyan's smirk at them arguing before leaving was chef's kiss. This episode didn't have a lot of lovey dovey moments but at least we got the "I'll start over with you" and her promise to stay with him if he gave up on the Ziwei method.
At this point, I just want to see Mu Qingyan be happy and in love with Cai Zhai in the end. Looking forward to binging the rest of the episodes tomorrow.
I'm also really hoping that the drama will have Yang Xiaolan's fight against her father. It was incredible in the novel and so deserved.
Of course there will be a wedding scene in Luoyong Valley - it's in the main series trailer - the problem is it…
Are you talking about that one scene where they're wearing purple and she's running towards him? I mean, the final scene in the novel was also in Luoying Valley where they are tying up any loose ends and saying goodbye. I was hoping for a more traditional wedding scene, but as long as they're together in the end and he doesn't die, I would be content.
Probably FL getting married to yuzhi to stop ML from doing something she doesnt like my guess
It's similar but a little different? Cai Zhao wasn't as harsh when they reunited one year later but she still fought him and tells him to stop bothering her lol. The breakup still remains the same because he had planned everything in advance and didn't tell her anything. That was the last time they saw each other but the drama gave us a more amicable breakup?
Cai Zhao is still bound by her family, duties, and sect. Mu Qingyan was heavily affected by their final breakup before the HEA because she left him and didn't look back. He's still the same character who has abandonment and trust issues.
Probably FL getting married to yuzhi to stop ML from doing something she doesnt like my guess
I read the novel and already know how it ends. I just hope the drama ends up something similar to it. Cai Zhao never saw Song Yuzhi like that and she wouldn't use him to stop Mu Qingyan.
I couldn't help but notice certain images in the last calendar. The red 囍囍 signs typically symbolizes a wedding. Are we actually getting a wedding scene for Mu Qingyan and Cai Zhao?! I'm emotional just thinking about it. Just a few more episodes to go until the ending!
Your last paragraph needs to be on a huge banner. I agree, totally. If the MIB is a new entrant into the story,…
I can't wait until the drama reveals it. I was so shocked to realize who it was when I read it in the novel. They foreshadowed it so many times in the drama and we're all so close to the reveal.
This drama had so much potential to be EPIC because of the story, the Romeo & Juliette theme, the intense…
It's a really happy ending in the novel where they get married AND have a child, so I doubt they would make this a tragic ending. They just moved things around, which... is an interesting take lol.
I agree that that the editing and post-production failed this story and couple though. Zhou Yiran and Bao Shang En were spot on as Mu Qingyan and Cai Zhao. I really enjoyed their chemistry and push and pull relationship.
To the Book readers:Were Song Yuzhi and Zhao every together? Engaged? The drama clearly shows he's into her. And…
Cai Zhao never saw Song Yuzhi like that. They're still sect siblings in the end. There's a lot going on with his family in the last arc so he barely has time for romance lol. Mu Qinyan still gets jealous of every man who gets Cai Zhao's attention though.
From the ep 34 preview, I really don’t like where the story is heading. Why did they have to change it from…
I was surprised by that as well. Maybe they didn’t want to add an extra character? But as long as the main story and ending stays the same, I’ll be content. I feel like the editing for the previews are meant to confuse viewers. It all feels a little disjointed.
one year of separation and no longing..Those seven lashes were for falling in love and betraying her sect.. they…
If you read the novel, there’s a lot more going on inside Mu Qingyan’s head. The drama changed their breakup to make it seem more amicable but it’s really not. Cai Zhao getting punished actually made Mu Qingyan even more determined to never let her go. To her, it might seem like a clean break but their reunion one year later says otherwise.
A question for those who’ve read the novel: I think the male lead is portrayed as much more brutal in the novel…
I think they’re two sides of the same coin. Mu Qingyan in the novel is more cold and detached but often has outbursts while Zhou Yiran’s Mu Qingyan feels more cunning, passionate, and is very persistent when it comes to pursuing Cai Zhao. They’re both ruthless in their own ways. I really like how the actor is portraying his character, especially his abandonment and trust issues.
Just want to note that the upcoming teasers are red herrings. It’s meant to confuse viewers. Some things stayed the same but it’s also different from the novel. However, we’re reaching the end and the “man in black” will finally be revealed.
We talked about the ML’s toxicity, but in that case it’s also worth pointing out how the FL helps him every…
I agree! That's what I like most about them. Mu Qingyan does everything in his power to get Cai Zhao to choose him. Cai Zhao knows Mu Qingyan's manipulative nature, figures out his plans every time, and even accepts him for it. That's why he's so attached to her and can't let her go. Besides his father, she's the only one who ever understood him.
so all that happened around 25-28, i mean him coming to the sect, risking his life to clear misunderstanding with…
Not quite. Mu Qingyan never saw Cai Zhao as a chess piece—it's more like he gambled his life to once again push her to choose between him and her sect. The drama didn't really do a good job of explaining that he was in a rush to get to her and got captured along the way. I also want to point out that he had plans in place to lure out Nie Zhe and his followers to wipe them out in the event of his capture. I feel like he was also trying to show her the hypocrisy of the Six Sects as well.
The manipulation/misunderstanding was understandable at the beginning, but now it’s just tiring to watch, if…
Mu Qingyan has always been this unhinged, cunning, manipulative, and possessive. He just tries hides his true nature from Cao Zhao, but she ends up figuring him out anyway lol. He's the most interesting character to me because he straddles the line between good and evil.
I like how the drama added more depth to his obsession with her, especially when he tells Cai Zhao, "From the first time you provoked me, did you think of the consequences?" I was very shocked that their first meeting at Qingque Sect and the Hanhai mountains had such an impact on him. But yes, I am a big fan of his character and Zhou Yi Ran.
26. The ML possesses a revolutionary spirit, driven by a thirst for vengeance but also by a profound determination…
I really love your analysis of Mu Qingyan and Cai Zhao! Their love story isn’t simple—just like Pingshu and Zhengyang’s. I don’t think we know the full truth of what happened yet. I personally like the angst and drama between these two because we’re finally seeing them express some kind of emotion towards each other.
soo needles flying everywhere but nobody gets hit? even the immobilized ML was spared? LOL wtf did i just watch?
According to the novel, those are supposed to be mind numbing needles. They did get hit and Cai Zhao even messed with her parents’ tea before saving Mu Qingyan. She actually did a bit more in the book and used the thunder bombs as well.
I’ve always liked how consistent Mu Qingyan is. Due to his cunning and manipulative nature, I find him to be a good anti-hero who thinks about the bigger picture when it comes to the hypocrisy of the Six Sects. I love Cai Zhao, but she frustrates me with her hesitation and back and forthness. I think part of what she said in the dungeon was the truth—she just wants a peaceful life but he keeps pushing her. At least she’s self-aware that he does. Mu Qingyan constantly makes her choose between him and her sect, which makes sense to me because of his abandonment and trust issues. The entire progression from his capture to Cai Zhao uncovering his plan was thrilling to watch.
You don't have to have angst for angst sake. Episode 28 preview seems to ruin all the character development of…
I read this scene in the novel and was pleasantly surprised that they decided to adapt the scene like that. It's supposed to confuse and throw viewers off. However, it's also very true to Mu Qingyan's character. After everything that happened, Cai Zhao was going to leave him and go back to her sect? He simply didn't want her abandon him all over again. This is him at his most emotional and using everything in his power to stop her from leaving him.

This should be the last breakup before their HEA.
