I’m not sure that’s really possible 😅 This drama, like Immortality and Eternal Faith, was actually filmed quite a long time ago but still hasn’t been released. In China, there are pretty strict (official or unofficial) restrictions — if a drama is based on a BL book, it doesn’t get an official release at all.
So yeah, Winner is King is kind of stuck for now… But who knows, let’s just hope that one day all these dramas get leaked, like what happened with Spirealm 🥴
I actually started this drama before but dropped it after a few episodes because it felt kinda slow and didn’t really grab me. BUT now I keep seeing edits everywhere and I’m like… wait, why does it suddenly look so good?? 😭
Also can we talk about Cheng Lei?? The way he looks in this drama is actually insane… like the styling, the expressions, his whole vibe — he’s seriously so hot here I can’t even lie. Those clips alone are making me want to go back 💀
So now I’m really thinking about giving it another chance. For people who loved it — when did it click for you? Does it get more intense later? I feel like I might’ve dropped it too early and now I need motivation to push through the beginning because it looks like it gets really good
Yes, everything was filmed back in 2020 — but around the same time China introduced a ban on airing adaptations of BL novels. The Untamed and Word of Honor managed to slip through, while Eternal Faith, Immortality, and Winner Is King were just unlucky. As far as I know, all of them are fully completed. But Spirealm got leaked, and Justice in the Dark was bought by Japan, the world is changing, and hope is still very much alive 🥲
