I did not think ZZ character casting was successful.
That's why he didnt appeal to us. It needed a better actor to convince us of why Ning-er was so drawn to him.. We didn't feel him or her or them.

The way we felt Yan Lin and her relationship.

We saw Yan Lin's longing and felt how difficult it was for her to navigate that relationship with him. It was well directed.

ZZ needed to make us feel him and his pangs.. And feel her pain when she figured out his "filial" grief and attachment far outweighed and displaced anything that he might have begun to feel for her.

Am thinking which actor / role that I have seen as SML which might have been a better fit.

Excuse me - but strongly beg to differ.

It wasn't revealed until quite a bit into the show - I don't recall the episode no.

It was a TOTAL SURPRISE for me and DID act as a plot moving engine.

If I hadn't watched the show this isn't something I'd like to be told.

It's NOT EVEN in the MDL brief FOR A REASON!!!

Not watched it.

I usually skip shows that don't have a strong romance as a weave of the plot..
So I liked Love All Play because it focused on.. Love of Badminton and the arc that reach character crossed.. And superb capture of the "sport".

I loved Twenty One - Twenty Five also.. Because of the character's love of Fencing and how it was shot

I like the adrenaline shot the viewer gets when watching a well done game scene

I REALLY like the FL they chose for FlexxCop

Saw her in a brief role - appears towards the end of the show - and liked her aura and visuals.
One of my FAVE shows (rewatched in full) "Love All Play" ~ fabulous Badminton GamePlay shoot and of course LOVELY chemistry between the leads.

LOL .. C-Drama chooses a certain kind of "visual" for the FL when they cast such characters .. I think .. SO the minute I see a face that fits that template I get wary LOL

The Only person who broke the expectation of "face template" of this sort - for me of course - was Zhao LuSi ;-p

Love her .. She is naughty and has a strong spine and sense of 'cogs going off behind her eyes" nothing bland ..

Park Min Young is a GREAT actress :

My favourite dramas of hers is
~ When the Weather is Fine (such a strong independent role .. also looks her best and most natural face)

The other shows she excelled at IMO :
~ Her Private Life (independent and spunky)
~ Sungkyunkwan Scandal (also super strong FL)
~ Healer (ambitious, warm, funny)
~ City Hunter (independent, self sufficient)

This drama sounds iffy for me .. SIGH
The "treat me like a doormat and then I'll figure it out" story lines and characters ..
Downer for me !!

Also .. I cant recognise her .. she's undergone a change as severe as Renee Zwelleger / Nicole Kidman / Meg Ryan :-(

This SHOW sounds VERRY interesting though .. I hope romance is woven into it with a 'serious' super smart,, strong FL .. who I hope won't have the a plasticky face ;-p

I LOVED Ahn Bo Hyun SO MUCH in 'My Name' ~ he fitted that role so much.
Raw .. rough .. unkempt .. athletic .. tanned.

I havent watched Military Prosecutor Doberman (I only watch Dramas where romance is a significant part of a story's weave) .

But these stills of him - eeeeesh!!
WHY WHY WHY.

I saw that happen to Jun Ho - I was crestfallen - in King the Land. What a shift from how his face looked .. so natural in 'Just Between Lovers' in 'Wok of Love' in 'Good Manager'

And the worst heartbreak was when I saw what my fave Bae Suzy because scrawny and had serious work done on her face :-(

I wish Asian actresses would embrace their beautiful faces and figures .. Some continue to do so .. and I love how they look.

OMG You spoke my mind : I have dropped dramas because of that .. This happens SO frequently on C-Dramas earning them the label of "plastic" .. It looks SO cheap!

These actors and actresses have such naturally excellent faces .. the heavy filters are truly ugh!!
