I know that it's a mystery / thriller / detective genre .. and usually I am not drawn to it to watching that genre if its purely that .. UNLESS it has a potent romantic thread that woven into it enriching it.
Eg. Flower of Evil even "My Name" an action drama would pull me in ;-p Smile has Left your Eyes Innocent Man
BUT yes there IS one such drama (called Psychopath Diaries) in the genre I thoroughly LOVED inspite of it being almost totally devoid of romance .. simply because I was checking out an actor's work (Yoon Shi Yoon) and he was BRILLIANT and the DRAMA a perfect dark comedy with stellar actors.
Cool I'll take a peak .. I think I have it on my watchlist somewhere still.

I think it also depends on eye of beholder, I guess.
I found her features quite plain Jane .. who looked radiant in some of the scenes .. by sheer styling and acting skill. I could focus on what a SUPERB actress she was.
Sheer pretty / drop dead gorgeous actresses for me are : Ni Ni (in Parallel World) / Bai Lu / Wang Chu Ran (FOMH) and a whole host of Kdrama actresses eg. Bae Suzy / Song Hye Kyo etc
They are fantastic actresses too .. but the eyes will sometimes get paralysed and stick on their faces and miss the action ROFL

One needs to pay attention to ML's story arc - his life script - to be left in no doubt as to why he is the way he is around her .. AND also observe .. it's not that way in the beginning .. it creeps up on him .. slowly. It's also important to watch the action - reaction of FL around him and how it's affecting him ..

It was ADORKABLE Xie Wie of course .. carried over so smoothly from his pretending and letting Ning-er babble on after he's injured in the last scene.
