Actors especially the three main casts are brilliant Lee Jae wook Jung so min go Yoon Jung... I have watched two…
AOS started this weekend.
Am HOOKED. This time around.
Looking to a great ride.
Now that I have been trained on the "genre" by CDrama π€£π
Does this genre have a name in Hangul? In English they just call it by the generic "fantasy" which doesnt really capture the spirit of Wuxia or Xanxia.

TTEOTM I loved end to end. I don't know how the original was - I've put it on my wishlist to find and read one day because many brought up the original novel and it made me curious.
Where can I read the original.
TTEOTM for me was tops. Already Rewatched. And will watch again someday

I haven't read any of the original novels - I didn't even know or hear of the Wuxia / Xanxia genre (decades ago when CTHD was released and won some Oscar's I recall coming across the word Wuxia, and that's about it).
You are pretty well versed in this I guess.
Anyway I did not enjoy the last several episodes of LLTG either as much as I did the rest of it - especially turn off was the last episode and worst was the last scene - what a descent into pulp and cheapness - BUT the momentum the LLTG engine had built pushed me past it easily and I could adjust my lens / blink away the grit ππ
Am looking forward to a rewatch in spite of its loss of shine - just because the rest of it was so classy.

Wow.
Thank you so much for the detailed write in.
- I was heartbroken when Chen Fei Yu wasn't in Season 2. Dylan Wang just didn't work for me. For me Ning Que and he had melded into each other (what acting at just 18 y.o.) And I got so maaad at Dylan Wang being cast (and he so didn't carry the naughty spunky slippery feel that CFY brought to the show) that I used to pass over any drama with him in it πππ€ͺ
Well that was until I saw he was in a Bai Lu drama : Only for you.
And then I changed my mind - Dylan Wang pulled that role off to the T. Like that role was written for him.
well then this may not be for you . For me this is a beautiful drama which has slow burn with a love story that…
Thank you so much. This helps.
Yes I don't much like passive masochistic suffering kind of romance in a slow burn.
Mr Sunshine (zero skinship - kiss) Empress Ki (almost no skinship) Are outliers and slow burns too. But a class apart in acting and story telling and how HOT the actors are!!! Heart humping - flutters - squees galore.
So it depends HOW it's done and who are the actors and their skills.
In general the ML leaves me unimpressed. Very dull in the episodes I watched.
So yes I'll plod maybe for a bit - just for the gorgeous cinematography and Bai Lu
Hmmm the recent comments on this thread are making me rethink. Yeah when it launched I remember watching first episode and though it looked interesting wasn't able to appreciate or get into it.
Just recently as part of my foray into C-Dramas I watched - Ever Night and - Who Rules the World - Rise of the Phoenixes .. all Wuxia / Xanxia genres I learnt with its specific terminology and tropes ..
and THEN I watched TTEOTM (Till the End of the Moon) . Hypnotised by the layers and complexity of the drama's plot, setting, camerawork, action sequences, CGI editing and SUPERLATIVE acting!!
That got me curious to check out Alchemy of Souls ONCE again.
So this thread definitely had upped the intrigue factor for me now ;-p
I'll give it a second try and sit through at least 4 eps ;p

Slow burn is cool if there is some explosive skinship at some point - and not the silly "lip to lip touch and camera freeze annoyance" or just the peck on cheek / forehead.
Bai Lu does brilliantly in the kiss scenes I have seen till date. She is not a passive person but active.. Very active (Only for Love.. She sets the screen on fire with Dylan Wang.. Even with LYX in TTEOTM).

Your list is short so was easy to run throughπ
I saw Flourish In Time rated very high..
I am so on a ZLH (Zhang Ling He) trip after discovering him in SOKP
Can you share what you enjoyed most about it.
I'm thinking of taking a peek at it.
Thanks
π
Have put it on the shelf to continue in a different frame of mind.
Once the spell of SOKP / TTEOTM / LLTG / Rise of the Phoenixes etc has reduced and allows me to move on.
Have found Alchemy of Souls in the meantime... And it's sucked me in.
π
For me TTEOTM is a benchmark for excellence in the Xanxia genre.
That's why.
Or your have a different take on them?
Got it.
Interesting POV.
Thanks for sharing.
We have different lenses so we see different things and thus like different things.
That's the beauty and mystery of Asian Drama. They find their wn followings.

Or Shows with Bai Lu / Zhao Lusi?
Steamy kiss or no?
Hot hugs or no?
Bai Lu does brilliantly in the kiss scenes I have seen till date.

Can you comment?
Just starting the show - I am fresh from the seductive effects of Bai Lu in
- Love is Sweet
- TTEOTM
- Only For You
They all had such superb actors with such screen presence and intoxicating chemistry with Bai Lu.
