I can get behind stories that aren't "romance" per se ..
However, what started me off on a 'false premise' is that it's TITLED "Mr and Mrs Chen" - one is set up right at the beginning . Even as it is a larger story canvas ( so rich and full of a cast that keep you interest and attention .. the DRAMA TEAM forgot that THE HEART of it needs to be about the OTP .. driving the core story .. Most importantly clarifying 'the inner life' of the OTP plus giving us clarity about where they stand with respect to each other. Sadly they are the least transparent to the AUDIENCE. Usually the audience is IN ON what's going on inside the OTP heads in such stories .. Here we know nada .. Are they EVEN a romantic couple?? Or Are they Platonic partners - caring friends? One would think the latter right? They sleep on the same bed like Wooden Logs!! There is ZERO sign of 'desire' towards each other .. ONLY GREAT concern about each other ..
Hello I worry and weep and laugh and hug and kiss my bestie -- I FEEL zero sexual desire .. THIS is what is lacking in the way they are shown.
MAYBE that's how it was planned .. MANY COP and DETECTIVE dramas have a Female Cop and Male Cop or Lawyer or something like that team up and CARE about each other .. AND it's made CLEAR in the drama .. they are PARTNERS and NOT in ANY romantic way.
LOTS of such drama where such CHEATING is not done.
That was my BIGGEST GRIPE .. and if it was planned to change the OTP arc from buddies who care to a growing romance and desire is lit up .. IT SHOULD have begin around Ep 14 or so.
Nada until E 22 .. I watched it mainly for the rest of the cast .. and the acting skills of OTP .. BUT I STOPPED - on the verge of dropping - because I came to watch with certain expectations .. and felt misled and taken on a ride I didn't ask to get on.
What a disappointment, you know I dont want to criticize the screenwriter, director, whatever. They might be good…

It's like if Romeo and Juliet the drama was about ONLY the fights and politics between the fueding families and Romeo and Juliet were written into the drama JUST as a peg, NOT AS THE MAIN central PEG around which everything else hangs
