I WOULD have so deeply Missed out and regretted if I hadnt pushed through to season 2..
And taken seriously the ridiculous 7.7 rating.

And continuing from above...

Once Sang Sang was left on the snowy field with chills - a cliff hanger ending....
I decided to "hold my nose" / "squint" my way into Ep 1 of Season 2.

Why?
- curiosity of what now can happen? What HUGE goals will be set?
- how BAD can Dylan Wang be?
Unlike the last time (ONE full year ago exactly) when I fell into depression because CFY wasn't in it and some "weird actor" who I didn't know was taking over; this time I KNEW Dylan.

I found him super talented...doing such an I incredible variety of roles...able to carry an entire drama on his shoulders with his acting...
I thought let's give this now fave actor of mine a chance - longish rope!!!!

Hand on heart.. He swept up the DRAMA in a scoop and I haven't looked back since Ep 2.

It just took that teeny bit of time to get to know the new cast (only a few are changed - and they are EQUALLY talented).

I'll end with

You ARE MISSING an EPIC.

I have been NOT been so emotionally buffeted even in Season 1 as I am being now.

I binged 12 eps straight (weekend) and plan to finish with one final binge run.
Riveting!!!

And what can I say about DYLAN.
HE PULLED IT OFF.

ME kowtow to his incredible talent - he didn't let me down.

I didn't bawl my eyes out in season 1.. I am now..

Omygawd!!!!!!!

Trust me - hand on heart I WAS EXACTLY like you!!!

So much so that when I started watching Season 1 second time I had zero plans to watch season 2.

I slurped and double enjoyed my second watch, because I could understand SO much of the interactions - sects - motives - who is who which I didn't in the first round.

Plus it was my first ever Xianxia genre drama and I was CLUELESS about what the heck was "cultivation" and all those strange Xianxia terminology...of sects realms and what not.

But I was gripped by the actors (esp CFY - I was fresh from Lighter and Princess - and tracking his work) and the general story.. I had given it a 9/10 back then.

This round when the drama's tapestry came into full view (because I eventually became a Xianxia expert 🤪) I upgraded season 1 to 10/10.

Hats off Director Yang Yang and Team!!!

BTW it's SO SO SO good see you here to share my joy and excitement and all the swell of emotions I am being buffeted by....

It's not very well known and not many swing by to watch such "HEAVY SERIOUS" stuff.

I guess the"comedic" segments are also "high brow and low key" absolutely devoid of CHEESY.. That it might not be enough to leaven the experience for many viewers.
I chuckled so much so much even as I choked up at the same time.

Anyway I might just be presuming all that - biased as I am to the depth and beauty of this Drama.

Later then - as I continue on my journey.

So happy I have 22 more eps left.

I watnt to Write a thesis on this Drama.

I think this is one of the BEST - EPIC SCOPE drama in the Xianxia genre.

I want to unequivocally put a God Startled Formation on this 2nd season... Protected by THE BLACK UMBRELLA : THAT anyone who swings by this drama will be forced into stamping it greater than 9/10.

I too was so so unable to watch the second season thinking Oh No..how can Dylan take over the charismatic CFY role!!!!

It took just 2 eps for me to slide into his talented portrayal...

Maybe CFY would have excelled....but Dylan picked up and does too.
