BL storyline--"sad" ending; Gay storyline--possibly to really happy ending. :) Viewers have to watch episodes 1, 5, and 10 to see the BL (or gay) characters to piece together their relationship from beginning to end.

@AnnHaleWinchester, thank you for bringing "butterfly" up. I was curious if the mention of butterflies or the butterflies graphics are put in to communicate to Western viewers, because in the Thai language (to my knowledge), I haven't heard it used in daily communication. There is however, a "Sea Butterfly" that is an enchantress in a famous Thai epic poem that Thai students learn in their high school curriculum.

Yes, like you, I keep on watching as Teng whom I had seen in Gay OK Bangkok II (a gay series)) is a quiet but intense actor. I am impressed that he can do the emotionally sad part in this BL series so well. The actor playing the younger Ongsa is also good.

Students can go to movie showings in commercial movie theaters before 5 p.m. at half-price or whatever promotional prices the tickets are.

The rest, you can guess from the way I crafted my posts. Nevertheless, thank you for your reply. @Kyler Adams, Bad Buddy, the book in Thai, is a very touching gay story, but when it is adapted to the silver screen, the gay elements were blurred out to fit BL standards. Someone at work lent me her copy. I did not enjoy the TV adaptation, but I love watching Nanon's intense acting skills as I used to work in the movie and ad industries.

@Kyler_Adams, I do not intentionally watch BL series. I purposely watch popular straight series with gay characters (for Thai audiences) and Thai gay series (if there is one I haven't seen). I came to watch this Dear Doctor series because I was impressed with Karn's acting in Gray Rainbow, a series promoted as gay here. Some supposedly Thai BL series have elements of gay content such as the Miracle of Teddy Bear where the scripwriter character is visibly gay, not a character created to fit BL stories. I personally haven't seen a good Thai gay series yet, but the Gay OK Bangkok Seasons 1 & 2 are fairly all right. They educate closeted gay people on what they should do to be safe. Fathers, the movie, is another good Thai movie about gay parents. When I watch these popular forms of entertainment, I also keep note of them so I can recommend them to educate the people I meet in my line of work.

@mahiba, I see what you are referring to about Shane. Sure, Shane, the character, is shown such that he'd do anything to get fame because he was not priveledged like Touch. To butter up his agent is doable for ruthless gay people especially if they depend on it short-term for their livelihood. We see this kind of behavior in Thailand on nearly daily basis. That's why I say in earlier posts that this series will make sense to locals or those who have lived here for decades because we are exposed to these behaviors already.

@Kyler Adams, I see your point. Nanon is a phenomenon actor. You should also see him in 55:15 Never Too Late. His acting is so good, and he shows confidence even when paired in scenes with veteran actors and actresses! Besides, great actors aren't wasted on lower viewership series made for BL fans. Great actors and actresses are saved for series that appeal to (nearly) all audiences. (No offence intended to the BL fans, but it's just business for TV stations).

@Benjamin D Auver Thank you for the feedback. And I just thought that they, the show's TV channel, do not allow only local viewers to watch it online from outside of their live broadcast so we can enjoy the ads in between scenes. :)

I think the actor playing Tua phee did a very fine job. But then, the role is somewhat similar to the previous one that he was paired with the actor playing the doctor.

Thanks for the feedback about public outcry. It could have been done better like the case of "Cupid's Time" where ingrained Thai beliefs and practices based on those beliefs are mirrored on screen in such a way that it can watched by all segments of the population, not just the small BL fans.

I am surprised that this series made it through on Channel 3 as it portrays the disturbing treatment of a son to his mother. It goes against the country's supposed traditional value of parents' treatment.

There are 2 gay characters in here, and their actions are believable for those living in Thai society, although exaggerated. There is definitely no BL elements in here. Channel One has other series aimed at the BL crowds, but not this series which focuses on Thai social issues.
