Saw some people thinking the latest episodes became a cringefest and well I did think a bit like that before, and then it gets me thinking then how the hell should they treated the beginning of their relationship? It's like what Hwa-jeong said; this period is probably the happiest phase for them after getting together. I was also thinking before they're dating whether both of them would go through changes during the dating part, and yes they did and for logical reason at that.
It's not like their bickering stopped altogether, they still did that when they're together, but you just get the feeling the conversations becomes more softer & sweeter because WELL, they are dating now. I'd find it weirder for Hye-jin & Du-shik to keep being at odds especially during the time where they should've been head over heels for each other.
And it also came to my mind that by the end of the day, acting is a highly subjective matter. Kinda find it funny how Shin Min-ah was praised left and right for her bubbly & lovely acting in episode 11 on theqoo (a post compiling her scenes trended the day after the show aired), while some are complaining abt that here lmfao. I do like this side of her though, she never fails to potray the exact performance of what it means to be whipped in love in all of her works (Oh My Venus is a great example for that) and to think I got to see that again here just meant I'm going to have a blast watching this couple xD
I don't mind if some people didn't like both episodes, but I just can't help but wonder whether it was that severe, because I think one of the greatest joy of watching a romcom that takes on different cliché tropes like this is seeing different stages on their relationship. If being whipped & obviously in love with your partner because well they just got together for merely 3-4 days means cringy then......ah, I don't know afterall. People's taste are different when it comes to these kind of things I suppose.
Yoona's been improving her acting skill since I've last seen 'Exit' (this romcom film will be directed by the same director!) & Kim Seon-ho's good at building up chemistry with his partner, so let's just say I will be cautiously anticipating this project. Anyways am loving how Kim Seon-ho got to expand his projects to film now!
I think it just went okay throughout, nothing too spectacular which is expected from this type of show, and then they just had to show the subtle hint that Doo-shik actually paying attention to Hye-jin (that scene on the coffee shop!!!) and when the epilogue came up, I was just. freaking. sold.
I CAN'T BELIEVE THAT HE WAS GRADUALLY ATTRACTED TO HER WHEN HE'S BEING SO TSUNDERE-ISH THROUGHOUT THE SHOW LMFAOOOOOO
I just need more conviction to let myself enjoy this show, so please the second episode do not disappoint me too greatly:(I just want to love this showㅠㅠㅠㅠ
Interesting to see a Thai person's comments on this show! For me Sotus is a classic and I still haven't found…
Whoops I think I might have written something that made you misunderstood some part of it, I'm not from Thailand, but yes Thailand is in fact a neighbor country from my own, which is why I could understand the hazing system to some extent because it still happened in my country as well :) For the rest of thing you've mentioned on your comment, I wholehearted agree! This is still one of the best BL show I've watched so far ><
Whether you like the show or not, I hope you'll be giving the webtoon a try because it is such an impressive original material for this adaptation. There has been significant changes made into the show, and the webtoon also takes care of its characters in a different way, even when the plot structure are similar. The constant questioning about our own desire and how it manifested in the worst way possible were better translated & exquisitely written to say the least personally for me. If you think the psychological input in this show was excellently shown, I think there's a chance you'll love the webtoon too because it is one of the pivotal parts on it. The show's good on its own, but I can't help but recommending people to read the webtoon as the necessary companion to see how both differs in terms of characterization & execution as there are enough tweaks made to show us that it's completely possible to judge them entirely on their own merits.
Maybe I am the only one here that dont so much like this show while all other viewers seem to loved the show so…
I highly recommend you to read the webtoon because it thoroughly explains of why monsters exist in the first place. Some of the monsters are even given backstory of why they came to be one, and the characters' growth & relationship are just more well-written. And I personally think the webtoon was whole much better compared to the show tbh.
it isnt half bad on its own, but honestly i prefer the original story, its more raw, more survivalist (made the…
same, honestly. and everything in the webtoon feels more creepier & suspenseful ig?since it was made more realistic that you could get yourself eaten by the monsters in one minute while the characters are written more real in a way they're constantly kept anxious of what the future has in store for them. the bond between the characters are also way more stronger, i'm sad that the most tearjerking part near the final chapter were literally cut off from this adaptation, and the impact of why this came to be titled 'sweet home' was lame af when it was heartbreaking in the webtoon.
it's obvious they're going to make this a usual action-focused show with apocalyptic theme as the base of its plot so yeah i wouldn't be lying to say it was a li bit let down compared to what the webtoon tries to deliver :(
No matter how many I've watched BL thai-shows, I just can't help but come back to this series, honestly. The way it depicts the struggle of Arthit's sexuality was just...painfully good. And both leads' acting??Ain't no need for questions, because one of the good parts of the show was how impeccable the acting was; especially for Krist & Singto.
However I might need to remind you that this show did carry a bit slower plot development, and barely has any affectionate gestures (or maybe lovey dovey scenes) throughout its run. They barely has any fanservice on this lmfao. It was all about the minimal gestures that make people love the main leads' chemistry, and I really like how healthy their relationship is, even when they have some problems along the way.
What I probably need to say is how SOTUS was about a hazing system at its core and how it brings people together. A lot of hazing practice might come off overboard & deeply uncomfortable for some people, but it really did happen in reality and not just in Thailand (although it wasn't as severe in my university mostly because my uni was one of the most prestigious ones in the country; it's very likely for it to happen on the lesser known university but people has been gradually paying attention to this hazing system nowadays that it comes to be less severe now but yes it STILL happens). I think it's nice how they try to improve the hazing so it could be memorable for the freshmen (which is realistic, because that's what my uni did for me during my freshmen days), so I really appreciate the background theme of the show compared to a lot of people. I figure I should say this as some people probably couldn't get past it giving reasons like it was heavily unrealistic when this system really exists out there. Just because it ain't happening on your countries doesn't mean that it was like that in others' countries lmfao.
P.S. am just dropping this comment mostly as a note to fill you reasons why this show was widely loved, that's all. I suggest you watching this on the gmmtv youtube as it did feature a lot of good insights from the audiences. I did a rewatch a few days ago and it was so entertaining reading the comments there haha.
One of the rare k-actors that possesses striking visuals while actually have a solid acting skill I've ever seen so far. There are people saying that if only he meets a good script, then you could guarantee his show/film would be a hit, and I wholeheartedly agree with that statement. His choice of works has been a hit-or-miss so far, but it's been getting consistently better and it's so fucking rewarding to see him hitting another huge milestone through Crash Landing on You.
Hyun Bin is just one of the actors that I still find criminally underestimated in terms of acting due to his godly visuals, and it's pretty sad that people would only rediscover him whenever he plays romcoms like CLOY & SG. While I'm on the minority who prefer his indie-like films like Late Autumn & Come Rain, Come Shine, I just wish for him to do more works that would do a greater exposure of his exceptional acting skill. He's promising on doing action films as well (y'all should check Confidential Assignment & Rampant for that), so I'm truly looking forward to his future endeavors as an actor!
For the newbies, you might want to check his most popular works first, which are Secret Garden & Crash Landing on You. While he's really good as Ri Jeong-hyeok, I still find his potrayal as Kim Joo-won on Secret Garden as the most impressive one he's done among his dramas to date. I also liked his mature yet easy-going performance on Worlds Within, and while I haven't watch Memories of the Alhambra (it's more of scriptwriter problem rather than not wanting to see him in this one), I've seen enough bits of it to know Yoo Jin-woo was probably one of the best characters he's done in recent years, even more than what he did on CLOY.
For the diversity, I would recommend checking out his films. My personal favorite are Confidential Assignment, Late Autumn, and Come Rain Come Shine, but feel free to check every stuff he's done because every role he took on his films feels different each time, and there's always something charming coming off from every single characters he does up until now, whether the project was good or bad. For example is the villainous role he did for The Negotiation. I've never know he would be SO good on playing villains but that mediocre-at-best piece definitely showed a lot of his potentials. I'm knowingly rambling out my love for him now, but hopefully he'd meet more better projects in the future. Do not waste that good acting skill please :(
i really like the dynamics between the leads' relationship; how tong nian is still basically a kid (whose brain doesn't really lose out to the ML's seeing how good she is on creating software for her boyfriend LMAO), compared to shang-yan who's just purely cold-hearted at first, and then facing some changes from being shy, awkward & even romantic throughout the show. seeing how she's acting childish at times and he spoiled her so much for that, and they're literally the cutest thing ever.
yaya & xiao mi was so adorable as well t.t these two couples (& and the boys!) are probably the only reason why i like this show so much<3
Spoilers are indeed everywhere, but we have ways to at least try to prevent it getting spread, and that's why I try to help & remind others if they have no idea about it :) Sorry though, if my response to above's comment comes across as 'nagging' HEHE ^^
if the reason why people come here is to actually expect spoilers coming on their way, why would mdl has a spoiler button at the first place?i personally don't get that annoyed about getting spoilers, but having consideration for other people who may not appreciate spoilers isn't wrong too.
i'm just giving that advice bcs he/she has no idea how to put that comment as spoiler, no hard feelings.
if you click your comment, a symbol beside 'reply' button would show up & you could click that and choose edit :) and easily mark the 'spoiler' button that is placed next to 'post' button :) i hope this helps!
you could just edit the comment and put it as spoiler, as i've known that a lot of people must have been excited to watch the show & wouldn't want a huge spoiler like this taints their viewing experience :)
Chris is such a good actor, and he was a perfect choice to play Tang Yi. I really do think he's one of the best actors from HIStory series so far, his range on playing the character was definitely broader and he was so good on handling emotional scenes.
Jake was a lil bit hard to watch at first, but I guess his unstoppable cuteness eventually won me over. I really like his straightforwardness when it comes to his feelings though, it's quite refreshing to see.
idk if it's just me but it gets really boring once i'm past episode 10. the confession was drawn out too long that it's not funny & cute anymore. the only thing that keeps me going is probably the male lead's character, i guess. he's so different compared to those traditional cool & smart guy in dramas, and definitely contributed a lot to making this show such an adorably fun watch.
this show is INDEED refreshingly cute and has a different approach to 'prospagnosia' that the lead has so far and that's what making it so exciting & bubbly at the same time. they actually showed a lil bit more realistic reactions from the male lead compared to other dramas that has prospagnosia stuff as well (like Beauty Inside & 100 Days My Prince) both of which kind of treated the disease way too lightly when it was actually a terrifying one.
kim young-kwang & jin ki-joo's chemistry is literally too damn good & their acting & characters are definitely the ultimate highlight of the show. I JUST HOPE IT WON'T SCREW UP SO SOON THOUGH IT'S SO ADORABLE <333
P.S no one would probably be able to predict that this turned out to be better received than Abyss lololol xD
despite the lack of good plot especially for the second half of the show, i really like how the characters turned out in the very end. all the good characters of this show are definitely making this such a nice journey throughout!
park jung-min was excellent in this film. his chemistry with kim go-eun was pretty good, and go-joon & him makes such a hilarious enemy-to-friends pair xD
