The first episode was quite interesting, the FL is indeed very beautiful and attractive. I can't find the raws of the other episodes anywhere though. From what I heard, it's being released weekly on Paravi and will be airing on TV from July.
I just finished the drama and wow... that's what a family for you 😭 I'm so happy for both of them. And the development of the supporting characters was very pleasing to watch as well. Both leads delivered amazing performances. It was a joy to watch this drama.
i've just watched it and loved the end, but I eas reallyintrigued by the last scene, what do you think is it about?…
Yep, it's a play on words. Shijukara has double meanings, one is "From 40" and the other is the name of a Japanese bird that usually comes around in late-winter ~ early-spring to make nest and breed (exactly this time of the year, a perfect timing to end the drama) ^^

That very last scene just made it the best ending I could wish for. Beautiful.
Shinobu has finally been able to free herself from the horrible marriage, follow the manga theme she has always wanted to do and get over the social prejudice to be with the one she loves. She is free and has never been more of herself. I guess this explains why she was sitting on the lavatory (meaning all her troubles are off, nothing bothers her anymore) and looking at herself in the mirror (she's finally facing her true self)
The shijukara bird, which is the image of her dreams and freedom and also sometimes a metaphor of her love Chiaki, had always been flying away from her since the 1st episode and she kept chasing it. But now it falls down, stays by her side and is even caged in her eyes. It can sing, soar or fly however it wants to and it will always be inside her from now on.
Well, that's just how I interpret it. And I love it. Also this ending scene matched perfectly with the new OP in this episode: she has finally walked out of the aquarium and headed to the same direction with the shijukara.
For those that have watched the last episode: there was some differences between the version they aired on TV…
When their feet and their hands touched in the online version, they used the same kind of sticky wet sound effect with when they first held hands in the aquarium in Ep2.
Also the TV version has the birds chirping sound along with the song while the online version doesn’t.
For those that have watched the last episode: there was some differences between the version they aired on TV (this is the version most of us downloaded to watch) and the version they put on online streaming service.
The biggest difference is the last scene (yes, THAT scene). There was no song being played in that scene in the online version and they played a short piece of a new original soundtrack instead. This choice of music made the online version more quiet which enhanced the clear sound effects and felt more intimate.
You can watch that version here for free on their official website: https://www.tv-tokyo.co.jp/shijukara/ It's the 1st video on the site, use Japanese VPN to be able to watch it. it's available for free for 1 week only (another 5 days from this comment) and will be gone later. Enjoy! And may this info fly to the lovers of this drama in time lol.
Edit: I see the subs for Episode 9 was up today. I hope everyone have fun watching it because that ep was a wild ride as well xD
---------------------------------------- EPISODE 12: It has ended 😭 For me it was a very well made drama through and through. I'm satisfied with the ending. Every character's story was wrapped up very nicely and still very realistic, like you could see that they would go on living their lives while properly facing their own troubles, it didn't feel like the end and it made me want to see more of them and their stories.
As the director said, there is no such person that doesn't deserve happiness. (And guess what, I actually smiled for Mihiro and cried for Toko in this episode)
This drama and its characters have been a part of my life for the past 3 months, I don’t think there will be another drama that could leave this big of an impact on me in the future, that's how much I love it. I'll miss all the crazy sleepless Friday nights and all the emotions it gave me T__T (And I apologize for being the loudest here all this time lol)
Also, I hope someone who really loves this drama can write a proper review for it here on MDL. I’m not confident enough to write reviews, I’m only good at spotting details :(
And I'm not gonna spoil it or reply to any questions about whether if it's a happy ending or not. Discussion is welcome as always ♡
The drama as a whole was good and enjoyable but personally I found the last episode so beautifully shot, directed and so well acted. It was exceptionally good that I was in awe the whole time.
After watching Ep11, I can't help to think that this drama is built up like a spider web. Everything is intricate…
T___T It's true that the details, the dialogues etc. from different episodes just keep connecting and intertwining to each other the more we watch it, even in Ep11. It's really thought-provoking. The more we think about it, the more painful it gets.
And it really doesn't feel like it's going to end next week. I don't want it to end but I don't want to be stuck with Ep11 either, this episode is so cruel that it makes most of the previous episodes feel like a fairytale. It's gonna feel like hell waiting for the final episode and I bet it won't feel any better when the drama actually ends. But I'm still gonna watch it and appreciate that it exists.
After watching the raw without Japanese subtitle, I don't think I'm ready for the last episode next week. Worst…
That's right. I've also noticed that they've been putting the image of knives everywhere in the 2nd arc. And yes, with the way Chiaki keeps saying “Shall I kill you?”....... It's just so worrying.
And when he walked away from Shinobu, he actually said that 僕には 何もない… 弱すぎて 若すぎました… (I don't have anything... I was too weak and too young...) omg T__T Seemed like the word “happiness” coming from Okano had been weighing on his mind.
I agreed. I’d be more than happy if I could see them being together. Or at least just sort things out properly. After all that pain and suffering, I won’t forgive this drama if they’re gonna end in disappointment. Praying so hard for the next 7 days.
I think there's one forshadowing in this ep: Shinobu's wedding ring with knives scene. It's too unusual for someone…
I know, I don't get it either. But that scene was quite a revelation! I've been wondering where her ring went all this time. And I thought that scene in Ep7 she was shocked because Yohei planned a birthday party for her but now we know it was because she realized he had found out about the ring. I still don't get why he put it in his mouth? Maybe to show her the ring in his mouth when she pushed him to the fridge? And why did she hide it there anyway? it was so absurd.
And why was there an image of Chiaki in Yohei's flashback? And then the drama cut to the scene where he found the ring?? Did he mean that Shinobu put the ring away for all those years because of Chiaki?
It was like they answered 2 questions and raised another 99 questions at the same time, it's driving me crazy T_T

Sorry, somehow the source I usually get the subs from has failed to get the official sub file for this episode so they're trying to retract a part of it and create the auto-sub file based on the audio. So I guess the subs for Ep11 will be updated much later and not exactly accurate as the previous files T_T
And yeah, I know I said I'm ready for the last ep but I'm actually really scared rn. They really showed no hints or hope for the last ep even in the preview. The only thing that makes me hopeful is Yuta T__T And maybe that manga contest poster from Ep7, they still haven't touched on that detail.
I can't find the raws of the other episodes anywhere though. From what I heard, it's being released weekly on Paravi and will be airing on TV from July.
And you can find the details about every meal and the address of every restaurant on the drama's official site https://www.ytv.co.jp/shitsurenmeshi/shop/

also why is there a Bisexual Character tag? who was the bi character?

[Ep11 SPOILER] And eventually he moved back to live with her. Damn it T__T
