They changed the director for this week episode, the atmosphere and the direction didn't seem as detailed and intense as before. But at least the plot and the acting were still very worth watching.
I was right about the coffee from Ep2 being an excellent metaphor of Shinobu and Chiaki's mommy issues (or more like trauma), though I was only half joking I didn't know it was that serious. Chiaki sweetie, I am so sorry ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ðŸ˜
Also, they didn't only once, but twice, depict rape scenes in the span of 15 minutes. Even if they were just attempts but those were the kind of rape situations that are easily disregarded and not considered as rape (one is gender reversed, the other is married couple). The people behind this drama, their minds are too powerful I fear. I'm deeply disturbed by those 2 scenes ðŸ˜

Yessss, his acting in that Colorful Love scene was on point, I remember my heart got tightened when I saw him cry the first time in that scene. My fave performance... it's hard to pick lol. I loved him in everything so far, especially the dramas and SP in 2021 with the long ass titles lol (Koko wa Ima kara Rinri desu, Kaze no Mukou he Kakenukero, Seito ga Jinsei wo Yarinaoseru Gakko). But I have to say Shijukara is hands down the best performance so far in his career, and it's only 3 episodes in 🤣

I know ratings can be a good ruler to check dramas' popularity and quality but that's not the case for Shijukara since it's aired in the late-night timeslot (0:12AM Saturday). I've been keeping an eye on Japanese viewers on twitter and a lot of them had to record the drama for later viewing or watch it on streaming platforms because they can't stay up late. That being said, I don't know where to check those ratings, sorry xD

Rihito is a genius in the making. I've been crazy about him for months now lol You'll catch me everywhere in his filmography, it's kinda embarrassing xD It's a joy to watch him and his eyes, he surprised me with even the tiniest role and continues to surprise me here in Shijukara.
And I'm glad you're intrigued now, I knew you had a good eye for details. Unfortunately, I've already known too many spoilers so I can't engage much with the new watchers, my mental is not strong enough to keep my lips sealed haha. But I suggest not reading the manga too soon to enjoy this drama to its fullest, I haven't read it too, my mind rn is a mess trying connect the dots and building up theories xD
Also the vibes are probably similar with WOWOW dramas, I think.

I knew it would be fucked up when I saw the tag 'Childhood Trauma' and Rihito playing the child role lol but yeah that was... a little more fucked up than I expected. What the father did was disgusting. The whole movie was a hard watch and didn't keep my attention for very long so I had to skip a lot of parts. The last scene in the car was good though.
And I really like the acting and the subtle emotions shown in the exaggeration of Shinobu's yells and laughters…
The emotions in their eyes are seriously no joke! Everytime I rewatch the 3 episodes I get shivers from how good their eyes acting is. Especially in the last scene in Ep3, how Chiaki's eyes went from anger and hatred looking at Yohei then turned into despair when Shinobu told him to go home, and how Shinobu's eyes was so tender and sad looking at Chiaki walk away into the darkness but when she turned around her eyes were complete anger and disgust at Yohei. Not to mention their tears! It was so beautiful yet so sad. Goshh, that part was so goood!
Back then, Shinobu was Chiaki's savior but at the same time she was also the one unconsciously let him drown in darkness. And when she said she thought Chiaki and Yohei was colluding to deceive her, she was unconsciously hurting Chiaki again :(( (someone pls save him from this mess). And then when she realized what she'd done, she was speechless, the only word she could utter was 'sorry'. Adultery or infidelity might be the theme of this drama but so far it has been more about the pain, the consequences, the aftermath and how it affected the lives that was involved. 2 weeks ago, I was fine if no one knew about this drama, it could just be a little secret gem. But now it has got to the point that it's too excellent, it'd be a waste if it keeps getting overlooked like this :((
