also so far i’ve only watched 4 dramas of him and all 4 of them at least had 1 character saying ‘I don’t want to die!!’ while crying. and i don’t know how to feel about it honestly, it’s so depressing.
Except there is no 日 in 聖, although it might seem otherwise. In 聖 , one of the radicals is 耳 which means…
What do you mean? I never said that there’s 日 in 聖 though? i know it’s supposed to be 耳 in 聖, not 日. What i was trying to say was both 聖 and 日 present in the title of this drama, which is 中学聖日記.
I enjoyed 2nd season more, mostly because Makoto’s acting in the 1st season was the worst, really, i’m glad he was gone in season 2. Seno was a more convincing 2nd male lead. Also the main couple has more chemistry and moments in this season, which was cute. Every time i do a rewatch marathon i always find myself wanting to hurry up and finish season 1 and get to season 2 lol
Ah... Kou kou kyoushi. I don't regret that I watched it. I think in some ways the drama was better than 2003 version.…
sorry if i annoyed you because of the late reply. i think the last scene definitely suggested that they both killed themselves, because there was no way to prove that her father committed suicide, no proof of their incest relationship and likely no one would believe that story. there were proofs that Haruma stabbed him though, so he most likely would be charged with crimes, probably in jail for life. even if he got out of prison early, the couple would still have no future. also Mayu said she couldn’t live without him, and the red thread linked their pinky fingers suggested that they didn’t want to be parted again. that’s my take on it. it sure was dark and sad but i really liked it.
that was amazing, i really liked it. you can tell it was a very well-done drama. the plot, the characters, the…
The "shadow kiss" scene was so beautiful it actually made me cry a bit. oh god, the aesthetic. and not until i watched the interviews in the SP episode, i didn't even notice the main couple didn't even have an actual kiss the whole drama, they were all indirected kisses, even so their chemistry and passion still overflowed the whole time. that was incredible.
that was amazing, i really liked it. you can tell it was a very well-done drama. the plot, the characters, the acting, the setting, the music, everything went so perfectly together and it felt so different from other Japanese dramas I've seen before. Even the producer himself wasn't sure if he could make any other dramas that could top this one. And Mayu was so pretty, the simple and pure kind of pretty *__* i felt like i was hypnotized by her.
Beautiful opening credits, i never once skipped it. The drama itself, well, I wouldn't give it a rewatch tbh, but for a 20-year-old drama it was more enjoyable than i thought. Also, was his mother's love for him....... um nevermind lol
not sure if anyone noticed this but there are 聖 and 日 in the title of this drama (中学聖日記). Hijiri in kanji is 聖. Akira in kanji is 晶 which is a character made of 3 日.
Having watched the anime version, I know it’s a great story full of complex characters and really hard to translate. It’s one of the best anime I’ve seen tbh. But still, it’s not a surprise that no one has subbed the drama yet, it probably takes excellent Japanese skills to translate it I think. I’m still waiting and hoping someone will pick it up. If you’re a subber and reading this, please consider giving this drama a try, maybe watch the anime too to help with the translation.
Happy 10th anniversary! I'd love to see a remake of Love Shuffle, same idea with a different set of characters, maybe they could add some LGBTQ love stories as well. That'd be interesting.
Thank you for writing such great and detailed review for this drama. You did really good job on the FMVs as well, I really like the Rewrite The Stars one, it made me tear up again T_T
I understand the meaning/intention behind it.. to show he's immature and he doesn't know how to handle his feelings…
Agree, I've never seen such enthusiastic and devoted teacher irl either lol I've seen many like that in Japanese dramas though, still not sure if they're real or not. Apparently, being a homeroom teacher is a great responsibility, it's like being a parent to your students, maybe that's why relationships like this is a taboo even when he's already 18.

I thought the same. He didn't understand what his feeling was and got irritated (which happened to me once lol) and she didn't doing anything because she wanted to get closer to her students. She probably thought she should understand his feelings/reasons before calling the slap 'a bullying situation'.
I started this drama and I'm watching the third episode. It's so slow, I can't feel chemistry between Hijiri and…
If only it had higher ratings, it'd likely get a Special Episode. Unfortunately, I heard it was too controversial and the ratings didn't do very well (Average: 6.9% and Peaked 9.6% in the final episode). I still hope there will be at least a Special Ep tho, I really enjoyed the drama and I'm glad it got a high score and decent popularity here.
