Im on episode 2 . Can you please twll if the leads get closer like become friends cause clearly they dont look…
Guan Xue is the head of the secret service so it's her job to be suspicious of everyone but we'll get some romantic scenes (them dancing, choosing clothes etc..). The FL pits all her subordinates against each other asking them to find the mole in the service. She's always on her guard.
As for your question, it's ambiguous if she truly trusts him now but they'd been through thick and thin together so she becomes more affectionate towards him. I really hope they'll present a united front against the Japanese by the end because they clearly dislike the oppressors with all their heart.
Oh my gosh that scene from dead poets society was so unexpected! Also, on the side note, this is the first time I see an adult magazine featured in a Chinese drama.
Wow, this drama has the same director as War of Faith. The cinematography and the color palette are really pleasant to the eye. I was so freaking surprised to see Song Shuai in this too, his acting in WoF was really good.
Today's episode was so intense. So many sad things happenned and the pacing was really good. Cui Anping died because of his own paranoia, such a befitting end for him. Guan Xue is so close to figuring out who are the twins he mentioned.
I think it’s uncommon so I’m looking forward to it. I only saw a glimpse of him as the other bro in Ep 1 &…
I'm not a native speaker but I also noticed something different about his accent. It's a bit strange because I assumed both brothers would have their regional (north-eastern?) accent.
It's so fun to see Qin Hao play with himself in the same frame. He sells the brotherly love between them so well :3
Omg why some episodes have strange editing at the end that makes all the wait anticlimatic.. like yeah sure show us how this side character will die in future episodes. Such a pity to see a great show with strange editing choices.
Wow, thank you for this list! So many new recs for me. I think you might like an Ancient Love Song, it's the best mini drama I've seen and it hits you right in the feels :')
I find the preview of future episodes a bit annoying.. this is as if the writers couldn't come up with a proper cliffhanger and decided to tease us with flashes of upcoming scenes -_- I also wish opening and ending sequences were more engaging.
Wow, Qin Hao's portrayal of both characters is really impressive. Does anyone know how common is this trope for republican dramas? The only other example I can think of is Lost in 1949 where Chen Kun plays two brothers as well.
I think the best thing to do is to request the drama at Viki and hope they take pity on us...The drama does look…
Is it common practice to request subtitles for a Mango drama at Viki? And how exactly do we do that? Will there be a petition to sign or we should just bombard them with messages? xD
Has anyone else noticed a red spot STN has on the eye? I wonder if it's a stylistic choice or the actor Wang Yang had any health problems during the shooting. Anyway, this detail adds intensity and a sense of desperation to his portrayal of Shen Tunan.
Shen Tunan & Lin Qiao Song's team up was so unexpected and scary, can't wait for what they'll do next. It doesn't forebode well for Shen household, they're already feared and ostrasized.
I'm not sure I fully understood what will be the purpose of Yang LiuZhi. I guess they want to disrupt CCP's ammunition stock the same way they're messing up with banknotes.
On a side note, these two episodes (31&32) have a lot of black-and-white flashbacks. Probably editors trying to fit 45 minutes format.
The scene where Cishu keeps vigil over Shen Tunan in coma tugs so hard at heartstrings. Her guilt over not preventing Tunan from studying abroad is both oddly relatable and pitiful. This actress is amazing, even though her performance isn't as flamboyant as some others, there's beauty in her quiet and subtle delivery. I didn't expect to cry so much over this scene because I subconsciously knew STN will eventually wake up.
Lin Qiao Song keeps oscillating between chaotic evil and redemption arc. Love him so much. I just can't hate him because the writers made me relate to this lovable psycho. I really hope he will soon realize that his hatred for CCP has been exploited by his higher-ups to control him and to give him a sense of purpose: divide and conquer, so to speak.
Does anyone know what happened to Wen (WRL's buddy rickshaw driver)? I didn't see him during the shooting in the factory nor while the Qibao street was bombed. Hope he'll survive, the actor nailes all his support roles.
honestly i don't see any explicit communist propaganda in this one. there are at most 2 main communist characters…
Yes, I also read the synopsis and from the opening it's clear STN and WRL will part ways at some point in the future but we've already made it about 2/3 through in the plot and WRL hasn't defected to ccp as yet. I really enjoy nuanced portrayal of both sides. Hope more people will check out this drama because it's so good.
I must ask, is this worth the watch? Ive seen great reviews of this on douban and mdl, but these dramas always…
honestly i don't see any explicit communist propaganda in this one. there are at most 2 main communist characters and they aren't even all that likeable tbh. if anything this drama presents a lots of pro-Kuomintang arguments. It's easy to say everything China does is propaganda but it's the case for the movie industry everywhere in the world
