most of them are being produced in collaboration with other countries ! revenged love had to speed-run the airing of episodes near the end for fear of being cancelled before the show's completion since it got so insanely popular. blue canvas of youthful days aired four episodes of their series on iqiyi but it was taken down and re-aired on gaga a month or two later [since iqiyi is chinese-owned]. abo desire also had issues with airing on wetv, iqiyi and youku but since it was also on gaga and viki it didn't disrupt their airing schedule luckily.

the main actors of revenged love were unable to promote together [although the side couple did go to a thai fanmeet, they had to heavily downplay the bl aspect]. i think the abo desire boys were able to promote because they met up and did live shows under the guise of being a boy group ?

chinese censorship is... very confusing... but this loophole seems to be working out so far

i think its partly bc china started making bls again and they love crazy red flag leads. i think the ratio between red:green flags in other countries bls are still the same - much more green flag focused than half a decade ago

i'm not the biggest kbl watcher so i might be the wrong person to ask ,, however ! i enjoyed

- love in the big city: realistic kinda drama following a lonely gay guy and his romantic encounters with three different men and his straight girl bff roommate
- love for love's sake: isekai-type drama where the main character is transported into a video game where the objective is to make a sad high-schooler happy
- light on me: wholesome high school love-triangle bl where the mc has to choose between the standoffish vice president or the popular guy
- semantic error: university enemies to lovers bl -> their chemistry is good near the end 🙂‍↕️

and if u don't mind a movie rec,, i rec method ! my all time favourite, i've watched it many times and it's kind of a psychological horror type so maybe it's up your alley ?
