This is one of those dramas that is the victim of lazy/sloppy writing which leads to bad character development and stupid storylines. This is nether the worst xianxia, not very good either. And while many commenters likes the second couple better - I found the female character just annoying - its the ‘best friend’ who is super-ditsy and just talks ALL THE TIME! This is another prime example of the lead female characters all being, mostly, portrayed with child-like behavior - can we PLEASE make some of these where it is full-grown women and not a just-out-of-puberty girl The highlight of the show is Deng Wei
I started this and had high hopes - but am finding it hard to continue. 1. Mostly because I ABHOR 'reality tv' - especially dating/bachelor/bachelorrette type shows - they are really mostly about humiliating people and I find them incredibly painful to watch. They are also horribly misogynistic, which I also find offensive. And lets not forget that their is nothing 'real' about them - the whole concept just makes me angry thinking about it - much less to watch it. 2. I don't really care for this actress 3. Hating how they are portraying this female character - seriously, put her in some outfits that fit (especially those damn baggy jeans she constantly wears), she is a professional 37 year old woman and they are dressing her like 20 something. And I don't need to be able to see your hip bones and clavicle bones - this extreme thinness on actresses is gross. And, please, stop with the overly-white skin tone - her nose practically disappears from her face sometimes. This is not a natural skin tone and its not attractive 4. and while many of the commentators were rooting for Ji Yun character - I disliked her from the beginning - after the first blind date - she goes on to constantly manipulated her way around Jae Hoon. She is that typical female character that likes the boy who doesn't like her and she can't take the rejection and just keeps persisting with this idea that if I just keep persisting he will eventually notice/like me - I find this mentality very disturbing
If you want a show about how to have a completely unhealthy relationship combined with what working in a completely toxic work environment is like - this show is for you! This FL is so incredibly toxic - the longer I watched, the less I liked her - she was just mean - she's that girl that just likes to fight all the time, has to be right all the time and can't stand losing around anything Now, granted, the ML had some serious communications issues - but he wasn't mean, spite or vengeful like the FL And, what may be due to bad editing, writing and subtitling - I hated that the FL was then portrayed as the victim in the relationship and the ML was completely gaslighted into thinking he had done horrible things and was the selfish one - when it was completely he opposite The Feng Wei character is just stupid - I get he is supposed to be the poor, young kid from the wrong side of the tracks, trying to make his way character - but he isn't very smart/clever, clearly doesn't handle pressure very well - seriously, just wanted to slap him most of the time. And maybe this was an editing issue - but does he completely change around episode 35/36 - gets promoted after one big sale and becomes a total asshole Most of the side-characters - also not very interesting and way too much time is spent on them Overall - Would say, you really only watch this if you are are Chen Kun fan and that's about it
The absolute highlights of this drama are #1 Kang Hyundai Suk and then #2 Kim Jae Young - the rest of this was just kind of - meh! I dont often root for the second ML - but, seriously - there was no contest on this one. And, Park Min Young looked waaayyy to thin in this - like gaunt. Not one of her best looks or characters. It’s never a good sign of a good drama when, by the end, you could really care less about what happens to the two lead characters.
I stumbled across this drama last week and just finished it - am in love with the two main leads and am happy to see they are slated to do another drama together soon. I don't have anything to add as most commenters have nailed what is good and bad about this drama. I was just curious if anyone knew where to find the book translated in English - the book sounds waaayyy more interesting
On episode 25 and still not liking it that much beyond the two main characters - so far, the rest of the characters are just annoying. I’ll see it to the end - but man, this is a slog so far.
Working my way through this one and its a bit of a slog - talk about super-slow burn. Things I am enjoying - I like the ML - good character and the actor is doing a great job Sooooo happy that they didn’t give the FL a baby voice - they still have the character behaving like an idiot most of the time, but at least not talking with that horrible baby voice - so more tolerable - probably would have dropped this otherwise. Will see it through to the end and waiting for the FL to be stronger and for the two leads to get back together - but its a slog at this point.
Just finished this up and have to say - kind of conflicted. I am always intrigued to watch something that I kind of like, but has lots of issues to them come here and read the comments and everyone is raving about it- and I am like, ‘did we watch the same thing??” Overall, the story is not too bad and I do like the two main leads actors - but did not feel too much connection/chemistry between the two of them - so this piece didn’t work for me. They spent waaaayyyy too much time on the Mimi character and storyline - to the point of annoyance. Too many subplots and side-stories. And while I was originally annoyed by the Princess Li Yan storyline -it grew on me. I would add that this is another one of the c-drama’s with a weird, choppy ending Mostly I would say - this is an ok watch
I just finished watching and from episode 53 I am confused. I didn't understand anything.
Ha - I had the exact same thought! It totally didn't make sense. If you look up in the Recent Discussion sections - looks like someone went back and edited this so it makes sense. I haven't watched yet - but might be worth a try.

agreed. I had to go back and watch a bunch it over just to try and figure stuff out-that is bad editing and storytelling and just ruined, what was pretty good story.
Only on episode 15, but man am I struggling to get through this one. The story isn’t really that interesting and the exaggerated ‘baby’ voice is especially grating. I complain about this affect ALOT - but it is particularly bad here - and it is completely an affect. She is playing at being ‘dumb’ so she employs this baby voice (and dont get me started on why this particular voice affect is associated with being dumb) - she also employs it in her vlog - cause, apparently, being cutesy/ditsy and having a baby voice is how you sell makeup/beauty products- NOT!). And this is confusing because she acts this way to appear dumb, but uses the same tactic to sell makeup/beauty products - make it make sense! It’s additionally offensive given that she has a PHD and is incredibly smart - but thinks that she needs to act this way to be appealing or that this is how one behaves and speaks so they seem unintelligent or to sell products Not feeling much chemistry between main leads at this point. The second couple story is just dumb, they spend way too much time on them and I cant get past that he lies about having a disability - its kind of offensive. I am fast-forwarding through so much if it right now because so much of it is just soooo stupid and I find the FL character sooooo annoying
What is it with these weird choppy endings. THe Blue Whisperer was like this. Random bits at the end that aren’t really connected and make no sense. Blue Whisper - its the last scene and you have to go to the comments on MDL to figure out what’s the hell happened. This, is also the last couple of scenes - that are just random and dont really wrap up the series that well at all. Which is a shame - this is actually one of the better stories out there and then they just ruin it with the crap ending
Bro in which episode the 2nd arc begin and if i skip 1st does it ruin the series. I watched the 1st few episodes…
I would FF through it if you can - especially if this is the first time you are watching - don't skip it entirely as it does play into the overall story
Not as good as Love Designer, but way better than Lucky with You. Pretty repetitive business drama - that kind of makes you lose interest after awhile. Wish they had spent more actual time on their relationship - felt like kind of an afterthought. Biggest downside was the whole mom trauma storyline at the end - just felt too contrived (and, quite frankly, not really that big of a trauma to have caused such drama) Not a bad watch overall.
