I just started this and the storyline is so confusing. And from reading the comments - if I am reading this correctly - they actually made Chong Guang the 2ML?? That is just creepy if that is correct. He was already old when he was revived, found her as a child, stuck her in a mountain and now I read he tries to marry her at some point - gross! Happy to be corrected if I am reading that wrong.
Just finished this and would say I mostly enjoyed. It's one of those, didn't LOVE it, but didnt hate it either. My favorite relationship was between the ML and the Prince Heng Yang - I thought I was gonna hate it cause they started down the love-triangle path - but so not where it ended up. Instead - once of the best ending/breakups with FL and Heng Yang - writers - take note, this is how it should be. And then the bromance with Hang Yang and the ML was just the best! Only regret is that they didnt find a good woman for Heng Yang in the end. I wanted to like the main couple - all the elements were there - mostly. There was some good chemistry - but the battering/bickering got a bit old after a while - they literally couldn't have a single conversation without it turning into fight. Everything became a game of win or lose - either about admitting something first, getting caught in a scheme or giving in - and this is just about ego and pride (more so for the FL than the ML - I dont think she ever apologized for anything she did wrong). Would also add - while sufficient kissing scenes - FL actress needs to work on her kissing skills - I say this for ALOT of these dramas - this is an interactive action - lips should be moving. At one point she goes to kiss him on the cheek and she doesnt even pucker her lips - it was basically a face plant on his cheek - it's just weird. That being said - the kisses between Prince Shang Yi and Yang Ling were en worse - soooo awkward! I so wanted to like the FL (and I mostly did) - she was feisty and clever and straightforward (mostly - for some reason she loses this when it comes to the Heng Yang - will get this later). But she was also prideful, narcissistic, never owns her mistakes and kind of mean to the ML when she didnt need to be. Now - I see debate on the relationship between the FL and Heng Yang here in the comments - was she using him or not. The answer is, most definitely yes. She even says so - it was all about having him protect her from Fan Qing. The problem becomes - as in most of her schemes - she is so myopically focused on her scheme she doesnt see the impact on the people around her and she really doesnt care about how they feel about it - she is just focused on the result and not the process. Hence - she doesnt see the whole problem coming down the pike with Heng Yang that others see from a mile away. Then when the problem does arrive - it was uncharacteristic of her to not just take it head on and she gets all wishy-washy about for a bit. Luckily, she finally does and it is one of the best breakups in a cdrama. Now once you get past all this first half silliness and everyone is sorted - it was fun to watch them all plot together to take down he bad guys
oof - just finished this and it was not a fun ride. This had to have been one of the more annoying cdramas I have watched recently. The story had potential and I am a fan of Gong Jun - but that almost wasn't enough. Now it wasn't bad enough for me to drop it - but, maybe I should have. This is mostly a story and character problem. Story was just too nonsensical in too many places - it's clear whoever wrote this has NO understanding of hypnotherapy or counseling or any of it. I get it s drama and I dont expect it to be 100% realistic - but it at least has to be plausible. From the FL trying unethically get access to her friends medical data, to her convincing him to use his techniques on her friend (which he gets chastised for using his job for personal reasons) to even the idea that a love advice blogger would be treating patients without any formal training or certification (she literally only had 1 semester of classes under her belt by this point) - then the ultimate - doing hypnotherapy on him in the car! There was so much wrong with this - not only was she his intern and his student - they were dating at this point - talk about no ethical standards what-so-ever! OK - now let's get to the stylist - why-oh-why! cant they dress FL's well? both her and her besties, Lou Lou - just horrendous! Bad hair (both of them - Lou Lous stupid top-knot and bad perm, the FL's horrible bangs), bad clothes (that plethora mini skirt and those shorts - ugh!) and what was up with huge, sparkly earrings all the time! The guys dont get off here - the 2ML villain and the suits that were two sizes too small - the pants that were too short with the dress shoes and no socks plus the suit jackets that were too small - really bad look. On the other side - the ML - suits that were way too big. But, my biggest annoyance, by far, was the FL character - was pretty much throwing my hands up at her throughout the whole drama. I get she was supposed to be the more free-spirited gal who brings the introvert out of his shell - but she was just ridiculous and unprofessional most of the time. No sense of boundaries, constantly making a mess for the ML where she then goes begging for forgiveness (but then keeps doing it and he keeps letting her - gah!). But, it really was the whole set up for this character - a love advice blogger turned psychologist. As pointed out MANY times in the drama - she is the grand love advice blogger with NO relationship experience AT ALL. And then BAM! get a few tips form the ML , read a few books, take a class - and then let you treat patients - um, NO! She stumbles into the counseling office because she is trying to illegally access her friends medical data (because for some reason - she cant just go ask), uses her boss wechat account (without his permission) to sign up for this class while she is sleuthing and then she makes him go - then bails on him, she was absolutely clueless about the people around her (bf, school friend, 2ML) - there was just such a level of dumbness about her that was so irritating - I could have bought it a bit if she were a teenager - but this is a woman in mid-twenties ffs. And this goes on and on through 16 episodes to then tie it up at the end where she applies for this overseas program and doesnt tell him - gets accepted and then is afraid to tell him - it just made NO sense.
Pretty darn good for a short - they usually try to do it all and it just ends up chaotic, but they stayed with just one storyline and it flowed really well. Good chemistry with leads, good villain and while I prefer HE's (and they could have done that here) - it kind of worked - just not necessary. I dont like that she doesnt find out who she really is - really the only flaw in this for me. Totally with a watch.
The main thing this drama has going for it is that it's short, quick, and easily digestible. I don't have any expectations for these shorts and I expect them to be a bit choppy, given they are basically trying to fit a regular drama into 10min chunks - this was no exception. However, this one gets particularly chaotic in the last 10 episodes - just nonsensical really. Have not seen any of these actors in anything else - not particularly impressed with any of them. Not a bad filler if you are looking for something to watch real quick.
Started off good then slowly, through 58 episodes turns into a hot mess. FL starts off as this kick-ass, smart, fighter and slowly devolves into a nothing-burger. She becomes the over-thinking, woe-is-me, I have to take on everyone's pain, self-sacrificing/coupled with also making her be this over-saintly figure and not-so bright FL by the end - just hate it when they do this. Main couple was just ok with me - not bad, but not that great either. Chemistry was just ok and a weird decision to not have any real kissing scenes between them made it odd. I also found that there were just too many times that they decide to not tell the other one something (for various reasons) - which just speaks to lack of trust. This very weird concept of keeping things from one another as to not make them sad or to be worried - like the is the absolute worst thing you could - instead, it just takes away the other persons agency. Liked the plot twist with the ML and 2ML - then annoyed they kill off the 2ML at the very end - what was the whole point of that. Same deal with the FL's sister - why even go there, reunite them to just kill them off in the end. I thought the 2ML (General FU) - really was the best character - in terms of depth and nuance Main villain lady was a good cray-cray villain - didnt like that they just let her kill herself instead of FL ending her. I know, I know, cant have the saintly FL do such a dastardly thing - but it is what would have made the most sense and the most satisfactory ending. Eunuch baddy was the perfect level of creepy Another crap ending - really - FL goes into seclusion for 5 yrs! just abandons her kid and her niece?? Had a bit of flashback of TMOPB with that scenario. This drama did make me understand why they insisted on shortening drama's - when you have to fill 58 episodes - it just becomes nonsensical and draggy.
You really don't understand the story, the shaman said to Eunbo that she needs to stay away to King because something…
last comment - as I have discovered how to end this once for all and that is just that I am going to block you. Go enjoy your dramas and maybe when you catch up to my 512 shows viewing level I might have a little more patience for someone trying to tell me 'I just dont understand'
You really don't understand the story, the shaman said to Eunbo that she needs to stay away to King because something…
I would have stopped along time ago. I believe I was the first to ask you to stop - but you keep on insisting on replying. This isn't about anyone keeping their word (doesn't even apply here as no one made a promise to do such a thing) I keep asking you to stop and you keep replying. A reminder that this is MY comment thread - not yours. A second reminder that I asked you stop 3 comments ago and have been asking ever since - you' re the one who keeps coming back - not me. Not sure why this isn't sinking in - it's very simple - STOP relying to MY comment. And as long as this is happening under my comment - I will keep responding. So, you now have a choice - keep going or stop - its on you, not me.
You really don't understand the story, the shaman said to Eunbo that she needs to stay away to King because something…
Just stop already! It was my comment to start with - you stop coming here, you don't get to demand i leave my own thread. The only thing i am complaining about at this point is you. How is it that only your view (and those who agree with you) about the drama are correct and everyone else is wrong. That is not how opinions work. And the only possible reason you can have at this point for continuing on is your need to have the last word.
You really don't understand the story, the shaman said to Eunbo that she needs to stay away to King because something…
Exactly. You dont me at all and made a ton of wrong assumptions based on an opinion i had about a drama that you clearly loved and took my comment /opinion personally. Even this reply is filled with wrong assumptions and bias, is very condescending and rude. I hope you will stop now and just go back to posting about how you like this drama. You dont need to make a comment on every post you disagree with - you can just move along.
You really don't understand the story, the shaman said to Eunbo that she needs to stay away to King because something…
I absolutely understood the story and you are absolutely being rude and insulting - that is the truth. I get you liked the drama - its clear from all your comments and posts that you have a bias towards this drama - i was just expressing my thoughts - which i get to do. And yes, i tend to pay more attention the FL characters - because, i am often dismayed at how poorly women characters are written in asian dramas. Even with all that, there was absolutely no need for you to come into my comments and be so rude. We clearly have different opinions about the drama - just leave it at that and move on already.
tried to start this and only on episode 2 and I already cant stand the FL - that ridiculous FL character that is the young girl who leaves home to 'find herself' - but is really stupid, obsessed with food and money, running around stealing all the time, constantly getting herself in trouble - and from reading the comments - doesn't sound like she gets any better. And, yes, whoever did the sound effects for her - the constant lip-smacking and loud chewing is VERY distracting. Was kind of looking forward to Ao Rui Peng, but dont think I can endure the annoyance for 24 episodes. Gonna put on hold and go watch something else. May use this as something to fill some time while waiting on something else.
wasn't bad, draggy in spots, didn't like the ending - while happy, just unsatisfactory. Cant believe she was just never gonna tell him they had a kid if he didn't come looking for her. And someone seriously needs to just shoot the priestess lady - the whole bunch of them - causing so much damage. Lots of typical palace intrigue, the usual corrupt officials trying to retain/steel/keep power. Did appreciate a king character that wasn't weak and powerless - he actually knew how to use his position and stood up to his scheming mother. Kind of tired of the spoiled, rich girl who likes the prince/king and then goes cray-cray because he doesn't like her back added to the stupid trope of he was once nice to her when they were kids, so thinks she is in-love with him and he likes her - but when he doesn't (cause she doesn't bother to actually ask) - she loses her mind. I actually liked concubine Kim - she was just unabashedly ambitious - could have cared less about the king - she was great. FL started out smart and tough and then by the end she was the usual damsel in distress (and seriously, the whole knife sequence - how does one forget they are carrying a knife - it was just stupid!)
Finished it, but did not enjoy it all that much. The over-the-top, slap-stick stuff when on way too long - worked in some parts, but they overplayed it. The pieces I did like were when people popped up from the bottom of the screen, the antics between brothers was fun, enjoyed how FL and her dad always greeted each other. But the whole wheelchair thing was stupid. Interactions between ML and 2ML had more spice than the leads As I often comment about FL's here - once again, having an actress who is 10yrs older than the character she is portraying just doesn't not work. It's the visual of having someone who is clearly not the age of the character, try to behave like they are younger - just makes them seem stupid. In this case, the actress was 28 when she played this role - the character is no more than 18, yet, behaves like she is 15 - I know they are going for naive and innocent - but she clearly looks like she should know better - so she just seems like an air-head and kind of dumb most of the time. Seriously - not the brightest bulb on the tree, this FL. While this is only 24 episode long - it was all over the place - just not knitted together well. And, please, for the love of all that is sacred - please teach these FL's and directors how kissing should be done - the ridiculous face-plant, dead-fish, just our lips touching without any movement. Kissing is a joint effort. All three kisses in this drama are all surprise-attack kisses. Added to that the horrible - let's just stand here while the camera pans around us. One of them having their eyes open because they have been surprised by the kiss. We got robbed here, cause we know Caesar Wu can kiss (not so sure I have seen this FL do it well anywhere before) It also didnt help the they didnt have any real chemistry - mostly because she acts so childish throughout this and there isn't a whole lot of a sense of intimacy with them. It just fell flat.
I just finished this - but, man it was a bit of a chore. Mostly due to bad editing, a horrible script and one of the most irritating FL's in a cdrama. There are some cute parts - think my favorite was the Emperor and his brother at the end. Once they are together, together - they are cute, have good chemistry (when she isn't showing a tantrum about something) and good kissing scenes. So, SO could have done without the stupid maid/servant - seriously stupid woman - and the whole romance with her and Susu was just pointless, from a story perspective - was not needed at all. And, my god - who name a girl 'Meaty' - now this was probably a translation error - but, oof! And once again, cdrama writers managed to write one of the worst FL characters in this story. Besides the inconsistencies in her character - main one being she grew up in the Prince's mansion, but somehow lived on the streets?? Was not a favored in her house, but man did she act like a spoiled princess. She started to lose me me early on with all her mechanization right after she arrives - she agreed to this marriage, but then acts like she is trying to escape all the time and pulling all sorts of wild schemes for no real reason. Getting caught, then getting mad, acting like she is the victim and then yelling. I dont think she had a rational, calm conversation with the General in the whole first half of this drama. She really lost me when she goes on the scheme to help the Princess, doesn't tell him and then just treats him like sh*t - when the Princess asks her if ML will be ok and she is like, yeah, he is fine - he knows I am like this and will forgive me - I wasn't like - nah girl! that is not ok. But it really defined who she was - she really did feel like she could do whatever she wanted and everyone would just forgive her, so she felt it was ok to be a brat. What I didnt get, was why she has this attitude - she was not favored, she constantly brings up being a 'commoner' and growing up on the streets - made no sense that she would have this attitude. The girl was a walking disaster most of the time - everything she touched or schemed about turned into a mess and someone having to bail her out (primarily the ML). She didnt give a lot of thought to other people and the impact of her choices - just wanted to do what she wanted to when she wanted to do it and when she didn't get her way she either got drunk, threw a tantrum or both. She often when went off half-cocked due to hearing bits of a convo or maid heard bits of a convo and instead of finding out the whole story - then makes some really bad decisions. To be fair - the ML did always forgive and just enable her bad behavior - even called it 'cute' t times. She got a little more tolerable in the second half after they got to the capitol - but not entirely. Got bratty again towards the end. They mostly played this off as hormonal because she was pregnant. (and don't event get me started on what a ridiculous farce of writing it was about pregnant women - I just wanted to to scream). ML was not bad - a bit stiff in places and a bit too simpy towards his wife at times. Felt like he apologized way more than he should - especially when she NEVER apologized for her bad behavior. Fight scenes with him were good. Had some good tender moments with his wife.
Just finished this and kind of mixed bag for me. Storyline was ok - usually not a fan of sports-themed drams - but they kept it pretty low-key, so I could pretty much just skim through that. I mostly dont like them because the boys get way too competitive and a bit obnoxious - but they did ok here not overdoing it. Enjoyed the ML character, not so much the FL character. Esther has played this character so many times already - so nothing new here and it felt like she over-played the 'cutesy' a lot of the time here. And this is not to bash on her - she is lovely - just wish they would have her do more mature roles like My Journey To You - instead of these childish, bubble-head girls. Looking forward to Speed and Love to see if this is a more mature character. Enjoyed the story arc with the sister The arc about her comic book career was not too bad the story arc with her bestie and Lou Yan felt a bit unfinished/not fully flushed out Worth a watch as its short
Enjoyed the story arc with the sister
The arc about her comic book career was not too bad
the story arc with her bestie and Lou Yan felt a bit unfinished/not fully flushed out
Worth a watch as its short
