anyone know a good place to watch this with English subtitles - NOT Hulu. I tried Kissasian and My Asian TV - but the subtitling is skipping over portions of dialogue - conversation in the car at end of EP 1 and her saying text she sent after he is thrown in the closet. Didnt want to go any further if this is going to be an ongoing issue. I was just gonna sign up for Wavve - but I am in the US - I dont see an English version of this website.

meh - could have been better.
Did enjoy the parts with the writer and her editor
Styling for ML was horrendous
Younger sister was awful - the baby voice that was just grating and dressing her like 6 yr old exotic dancer was just gross (seriously - the lacy thigh-high stockings with the short skirts - just awful)
FL is very stiff
Really only watching this because of ML

I was gonna watch this and then the comments on IQIYI on ep 1 ruined the ending. Which I am kind of grateful for - saved me bunch of time and energy. I am not a big fan of SE/OE dramas. And I especially dont like the idea that I have to read the novel in order to appreciate the drama - I don't read Chinese novels - I just want to watch dramas - they are two completely different things to me . And if a drama has to have me go read the novel in order to understand it - means it was written poorly. Also sounds like the novel and drama have to different endings - hate it when they do this - either stick with original or do something different.

Not bad - definitely worth the watch.
But, man, did I want to slap the FL character silly through most of this. Her nervousness and being scared was fine at the beginning - but after you have been through so many loops - get with it already! She never cals down, she was so slow to the uptake all time, constantly made rash decision that caused (generally, the ML) lots of headaches and it mostly got dragged out because she had REALLY bad judgments about people. I get that they were trying too portray her as scared - but, man, she just looked guilty as f*ck most of the time and then couldn't understand why people keep questioning her - maybe stop doing stupid shit and then being a really bad liar about it.
She ultimately lost me when the ML kills someone (because she made a rash decision) and he is freaked out about and she doesn't even apologize to him or seem to really get why he is freaked out. Then it was her completely not recognizing that something is wrong with him - so hyper-focused on her own goals she cant even see that he is having real physical/health issues. She mostly comes through in the end - but I wasn't. big fan by then.
Now -things not her fault -totally just a script problem - the need to stick her in the middle of everything - especially the investigation at the end - there is NO WAY they would let a civilian go help interview potential witnesses - the main excuse being that she just 'wanted to know' - which was pretty much her motivation for everything. Which, in of itself, drove me nuts - and that she would be better at getting info from the witness than the cop.
Loved Capt Zhang and it would have added an interesting layer if he had joined into the loop at some point.

Interesting premise of a story - just not executed very well.
Too many receptive flashbacks - some made sense because it was showing from different perspectives - but just too much and it slowed the story way, way down. This could have been done in half the time - and then you could have spent more time on building an actual connection/relationship with the leads.
There were also just way too many plot holes - which you really have to just let go and let the story run its course.
It was definitely worth the watch - but not a rewatch at all.

Quick and cute. Not a lot of meat to it though.
Happy the couples got together early and no misunderstandings and other usual tropes.
Wish they had spent equal time on both couples instead of so much on just the one. Second couple story was a little more interesting to me
Last two episodes were kind of unnecessary (and stupid, cause , come on! Empress couldn't have found out what happened to Dr Chen before now - just stupid)- really just filler as they wrapped up the main story by ep 22.
Villain actor was good - although he could use some practice actually using his facial muscles - just kind of this flat look on his face the whole time.
On The Glory Apr 6, 2025
Title The Glory
I mostly liked this. Good story, good filming and costumes. Like most of the actors/actresses.
But it had some weird plot holes.
The biggest one being - am I really supposed to believe that this 17yr old girl who has lived in the country her whole life and been abused all of that time - is now, suddenly so composed, this master strategist and has this amazing command of every situation she is. I dont think so.
It also doesn't visually work when you have a 31yrd old actress playing the part of a 17yr old (and dont give me the whole argument - they were more mature then - no, no they weren't - still teenagers and looked and behaved like teenagers - as they should)
Now - where she most felt like teenager - was, of course, her emotional maturity.
You also have the typical - I can lie, cheat and steal - but no one else is allowed to (especially the love interest). Then I get to be mad that you lied to me - but you cant be mad that I lied to you. Especially given that most of her lies were for personal revenge, while he was secretive because his job required it and she weighted those the same - which they are not.
I also didn't get the full rage that the FL should have had - just felt like she was mad - but not deep-seated rage - just didn't see it in the eyes.
I also don't know who did the makeup for the FL - but man did they wash her out to the point of no facial definition - wasn't sure if this was makeup or some filter - but you almost couldn't make her nose.
And can I just say - they who scenario of the mom going through the secret tunnel in her wheel chair - was just kind of absurd. Just sayin'

On Undercover High School Apr 1, 2025
not too bad - definitely worth a watch, just for the ML - so great to see him back on the screen. Thought all the actors did a good job.
Villain was great - almost too much so - especially when it came to her daughter - it was kind of disturbing. This made the ending where the daughter tells her she loves her - kind of wrong. The woman tormented and emotionally abused her most of her life - there is no way you are saying that to her right after - just, no.
While I did mostly like this - it was also a struggle. I had a hard time right out of the gate because there is just NO WAY you are believing that this 31 yr old man is a teenager. I could have bought into this a bit more if it had been college - but certainly not high school. So I REALLY had to let that go in order to move along in the story.
FL was a hit or miss throughout for - she is just so weird and chaotic in the beginning. Her whole weird fixation in her 'student' got a little creepy at time. Once she calmed down - she was better.
Main couple was kind of cute - but not a whole lot of chemistry there - not sure if there could have been as they dont spend much time here - which then feels weird to have it if you aren't going to go all in on it.
Some of the plot lines didnt exactly make sense - like him joining the student council just so he can get in that room. Like, WTF? why cant he just break in like he did the basement or the other building?? It was just completely illogical. There were a number of these - but, you keep watching cause the ML was pretty awesome in this.
Team 4 - also kind of a hit or miss. I get they were the /comedic' relief - but it got a bit too slap-sticky at times.
Give it go - it is kind of fun (minus the horrible school bullying and the chairwoman's treatment of her daughter that goes on) and only 12 eps - so goes quick.

overall, I enjoyed this and would certainly recommend to watch, especially if you like this genre.
LOVED the ML and the actor who played him - he could read ingredients off a cereal box and I would swoon. He also has some really wonderful facial expression, plus a commanding presence - fit this role wonderfully
FL was good as well - loved how smart she was and a true partner in this drama.
The main couple was pretty good, felt like an actual relationship, they communicate well - pretty healthy relationship - which is always good to watch.
Would also say it gots a good ensemble cast - her dad and brother were just precious, Zhen Heng was so great as the nerdy, follow-the-rules, straight-man (great balance for Yu Qi's silliness and outrageousness. Chu Chu was THE BEST.
Another stupid Emperor who puts loyalty to a family member over what's the right thing to do - so becomes completely blind to their nefarious actions. (they are literally running around slaughtering entire families and he is clueless)
The typical crazy, spoiled, entitled princess - 2 of them really, mother and daughter - both cray-cray psycho's that everyone just lets run rampant.
Some very standard historical c-drama plots
Liked the second half way better than the first half.
Pace was pretty good
I say, give it go - it goes fast and the main couple is good
On My Dearest Nemesis Mar 27, 2025
Overall - a fun quick watch. You aren't gonna get a lot of sizzle with the main leads - but they are cute. You will get more tension with the second couple (mostly, because they are a bit older and mature).
The biggest reason I couldn't get all the way behind this was just the whole set up - she is still mad about this kid who pretended to be older than he was on online, she falls for him, then when she finally meets him - he confesses in a VERY awkward, teenagery move and she is embarrasses - she then humiliates him public and then holds a grudge for 10yrs. Yeah, no - get over yourself girlfriend. And this just dragged out for too long. Which then left us with the typical rushed ending.
I also was NOT a big fan of the redemption of grandma - she abused this kid his whole life and with one swift 'I'm sorry' at the end and it's all forgiven. Not saying there shouldn't have a been a redemption arc for grandma - but there definitely needed to be more time spent there and she needed to work for it more. She was pretty awful.
On The Best Thing Mar 24, 2025
This drama was kind of mixed bag for me. I mostly watched it for the ML - just love him and he has been fantastic in everything I have seen him so far - but the rest was just kind of 'meh' for me.
Some of it was the pacing - stuff just dragged out for too long - this drama really could have been done in half the time.
We spend the first 20 eps dealing with the FL and her angst about her ex (which I just had no time for after while - he was clearly awful and she should have kicked him to the curb a LONG time ago). Now - dont get me wrong - I get having trauma coming out of an emotionally abusive relationship - but it just never made sense. This is a character that had a super-supportive family and friends. SO it really comes down to the idea that she hated herself for bad choices she made - and that is what she couldn't let go of. Add in avoidance of conflict and that is really the crux of it. Once she does finally confront it all - then - BAM! - we immediately (like IMMEDIATELY) shift to a character that has an almost completely different personality and the last 17 eps are just them dating - this got kinda boring after a while. They tried to throw in some drama with her mom's cancer scare - but doesn't help, cause it just felt like contrived drama because we have to fill episodes.
And, I get it - this is a typical FL character who overthinks, bottles up their emotions, everyone else's emotions are more important then mine until some soul-crushing event happens until they kind of get it (and I say that because of the mom story arc at the end where she is basically ready to give it all up AGAIN - thank GOD they all talked her out of it), no emotional EQ, immature for a 27/28yr old, timid, avoids conflict (which is why they bottle emotions - just creates vicious cycle) - which also Leeds to not communicating honestly - I lost track of how often her natural instinct was to lie when asked about things. She also just wasn't that interesting of a character - beside her angst and work and her parents - we dont really know that much else about her - there just wasn't much depth there - so. kind of boring. And I was particularly annoyed at the end when she makes 2 rather large life decisions and doesn't discuss them with her partner (internship and starting a business) - both of which she announces after-the-fact to him.
Now - I know folks are going to argue that he didnt tell her about mom's cancer - but his job ethics and the patients request are what he his bound to before his GF
REALLY hated the whole story when her ex comes back and basically stalks her at work and they put it on HER to deal with - not reprimanding the staff who are gossiping, no protecting her from this guy (mostly because the is rich) -so wrong!
In the end - if you like the ML and you dont mind watch 20eps of a FL twisting themselves in knots over bad life choices and the 17 eps of watching two people date - you might like this. It ended up not to be my cup of tea.

Someone Is going to call me rude because I respect your opinion but from everything I just read this troupe wasn't…
it wasn't how they met that bothered me- I was pretty clear when I started that they met in high school and were desk mates ( was at least happy they didnt do the dumb thing of having a childhood connection) - its was about how they handled her dealing with her trauma and that its just takes the right man loving her that she can be healed - that is not how this kind of trauma is healed and it bugged me. Also felt it went on for far too long. All that being said - I didnt hate, but, yeah, just didnt do it for me
On The First Frost Mar 17, 2025
I am sure this will be an upopular opinion - but it's mine, so no need to get all up-in-arms. But this just did not do it for me. I always can tell when a drama is not for me when I start taking notes on all the things that annoy me - and I had quite a few when I was done with this.
It started out kind of ruined because I wait until a drama is done before watching as I like to just experience it all the way through and not wait on episodes - so netizens had already given way the plot and all the good scenes before I event got here - so that kinda sucked.
I also felt like I had experienced this FL character already in another drama - just couldn't put my finger on it - but the FL who had childhood trauma that made her detached and its the love of the ML who saves her - yeah, no - this just doesn't work for me. Especially given the trauma she had suffered, that she never seeks help (beyond seeing a doctor of her sleep disorder, which is then just chocked up to too much stress, instead of severe trauma). I also just felt so manipulated into having empathy for this FL character and it takes waaaay too long for her to start doing something about her situation. But, even by ep 31 she is still feeling sorry for herself and boohoo - no-one loves me. Yeah, I pretty much just wanted to shake some sense into her for most of this series. I haven't quiet been able to put my finger on it - but this FL character just bothered me - didnt enjoy her all that much at all (and, yes, I get her historical trauma)
The ML is a saint of patience and I do like that he gets she has trauma early on - even her best friends (who she has known since kindergarten) - didnt get it.
I also did like that she doesn't go back to her mom and they didnt do the typical redemption plot with this. This woman was horrendous (typical cdrama mom). Like that the aunt and uncle got their comeuppance (again, we usually get some sort to f redemption plot here - so, yay! to the writers for that)
Did not care for the Zhi Zhi character - much better version in Hidden Love. Mostly because she did feel way too childish in this one.
So could have completely done without the stupid plot of the childhood friend who has a crush, but the FL has no idea - just happy they didnt drag it out and that he comes to her aid in the end.
Second couple wasn't really necessary and this led to the whole older couple story - just all so disconnected to the main story. And can we please stop with the trope of the besties for the main couple have to get together as well - they do this in almost EVERY romance drama - modern, historical or otherwise - it is just not needed AT ALL.
On Check in Hanyang Mar 15, 2025
Didnt love it, but didnt hate it and was worth at least one watch.
Like Go Sa Ru the best - loyal and honest until the end
Like that the four friends stayed friends and ended up together at the end
Main couple was just kind of - meh! Could have done without the whole love triangle thing.
Waited waaaay to long for main couple to find out true indents of each other - but glad that when they do it doesn't cause a huge conflict
I think the biggest flaw is the indecision as to whether this was a comedy or a drama. Starts out as a comedy and if they had just run with that - it would have been fine. But then they change course to make it a drama. And while I did find this part more interesting - you dont really get to that until the second half and then its a bit of a mess.

I mostly like this and worth a watch.
What I like:
What is probably the most poignant and meaningful part of this drama is the relationship between the ML and his brother - this alone made it worth it. They did a wonderful portrayal of someone living with depression and loss.
Loved that they didnt have the leads have some sort of connection as children - just two adults who met and fell in love
Liked what they did with the second couple.
What didnt quite work for me was was the FL's 'trauma' - yes, her dad was kind of an absent parent and he dies in an accident - but to turn this into 'no one loves me ' or they love me and then leave (which also comes form her dog dying and her neighbor friend moving) was kind of ridiculous. I did appreciate that she does finally regocnise at the very end that her mother had always been there and loved her - so it was really about her father not loving her in the way she wanted to - not that he didnt love her. It just wasn't big enough of a trauma to make her be the way she was (in my opinion)
Hated the 2FL - she chases the guy from the beginning, he falls for her, she follows him around and does everything without complaint. Then, after 7 yrs breaks up with him out of the blue and then disappears without a trace - only to come back, out of the blue, to bug him to work on her movie. Then proceeds to tell him they broke up because he didnt pay enough attention to her - he was too self-centered. Puts it all on him after she NEVER said a word the entire time they were together. I was like - nope, not all on him. She doesn't once apologize or own her own actions. Thats not to say he doesn't have some responsibility - but he cant read her mind and if she isn't going to say anything - that's on her. Was happy they went their separate ways.
