i haven't finished the novel, but from what i gather from what i've read so far, what he did in the novel was very different from the drama. in the novel, it says he did some trading, and went overseas to win snooker championships. here, in the drama, it's more traumatic -- boxing. the writing of chen yi is also very different in the novel from the drama. in the novel, he's very nasty to miao jing. in the drama, he dotes on her, to the extend of listening to her. i prefer the drama version.

in many countries, they don't have the luxury of having an adult to take care of young kids unless the kids can't take care of themselves and have no housing. many kids are left to fend for themselves. chen yi and miao jing can take care of themselves, so no one bothers them. chen yi even knows how to make a living without help at that age. he's very streetwise. that's something.

Agree. Cheng Lei is such a good actor. When I watched the bts of him with Bai Lu, he's so playful, smiling and laughing all the time. But in the drama, he's so serious, and you can feel that he has a million things hiding in his heart.

Sure! I only watch c-dramas. What type do you like? The serious type, romance, witty, old, or new dramas? They are very different in production, aesthetic value, and storytelling.

While everyone goes crazy over him, I'm holding back—he's too pretty to be real.
