And I agree with you about the drag in the middle. I also felt they stretched things out too much in the last five episodes—a 30-ish episode drama would’ve been tighter and flowed better. But as we all know, longer dramas tend to bring in more money.

Do you know who the original FL was? Why was she replaced? They must have reshot a ton of scenes, since the FL is in almost every one.

And yes, I really enjoy LXY’s dramas—he’s such a talented actor with amazing nuance. I like HYX as well. Comparing her to Esther Yu in a similar role, like the Orchid character in Love Between Fairy and Devil, I honestly prefer HYX. (No offense if you’re a fan of Esther!) Though I have to say, I did enjoy Love Between Fairy and Devil a lot too.

for the filter part, all C dramas have filter on. all the actors, female and male, have perfect skin and all are very fair skin. without this, the actors would be called ugly by the Chinese netizens.

like @justine says, no idol actors. plus love triangle--otp is a pair of fake sibling, some viewers don't like that. many viewers want fl to fall in love with 2ml but she doesn't so they're disappointed. these are basically the complaints I hear on mdl. maybe there are more.
