I have not read the novel, but I hope the 2 villainous dowager empresses have a final face off and battle each other to death. Everybody else, specially Fu Chou, lives happily ever after.

Hahaha! To tell you the truth, when I first started watching all these wuxia, xian xia, historical or even contemporary dramas, I just couldn't put my head around them. It's so hard to fathom the thoughts of the writers. As I watched more of these type of dramas, I realize they have very similar thinking and hence a lot of the scenes are very similar. With that, as time goes by, I began to accept how reality is being portrayed in Chinese dramas. I accept their logic of reasoning (which to me is really crazy most of the time). There's where enjoyment began to follow. After all, it's just entertainment. What's important is, you can put up your feet, watch the dramas, and laugh about them (or throw food on your screen). If they make you frustrated, kisskh, or many other platforms, are where you can come to to vent out your frustration. Most of the time, we talk trash here (speaking for myself).

18 episodes in, we are getting serious. No more of the comedic acts and silly exchanges. Everyone is trying to outwit one another. The plot is getting more intense, and sadder. I'm feeling Wei Kuang's pain. Hope the good story continues.

Absolutely! Some men are simply scum. Not Fu Chou.

Stopped for a couple of weeks and have been binge-watching "Princess Silver". Today, came back to continue this drama from where I left off, episode 13. To my surprise, everything seems to be getting better. In fact, I'm enjoying the later episodes. So if you're in the same boat like me, maybe we all should give it a chance before killing it too soon.

The beginning is a bit hard to watch. However, after 10 episodes in, the chemistry between the male and female leads is enormous; they don't seem to have enough of each other. Ling Yi Zhou desires his wife constantly; he is passionate for her; bed scene is a constant play; it's really very sweet and beautiful.

Actually, I'd like to take my statement back about telling that person "to go to hell". It is easier said than done, I realize. That's why there are so many abuses. Many lovers suffer in a relationship but cannot break up when the other partners threaten to kill themselves. Come to think of it, I did encounter something similar myself; someone did threaten to kill himself when I refused to continue a relationship with him. Even though it was a brief relationship, I found it hard to break off when he threatened me with his life. It was scary. Only ignoring him for months and starting a new relationship with someone else, then he finally backed off.

If that's the case, I breathe a sigh of relief because Fu Chou would not take any other women except Rong Le (which is almost not possible unless she falls out of love with Wu You). So, no matter what, he will not have a life partner to grow old with. Instead of empty handed, getting his own daughter back to love and pamper is the next best thing to happen to him.

It's also very true that, when the actors play their characters very very convincingly, ie. creating a chemistry between a screen couple, in real life, they may fall in love with each other, hence all the divorces and breakups with their other halves.

Beats me! All these actors are so good and convincing. They'd make you fall in love with the characters, thinking those characters are them in real life. In actual fact, they, the actors, are just like us, with all the flaws, prejudices, cruelty, stubbornness, unreasonable & selfish. Looking and feeling like their characters, that's how they get their fans, including me. :(

Right! Fu Chou is the self-sacrificing type. Love him!

Hahaha, but then I don't like people using their own life to threaten others. If I were ever facing such a situation, I may tell that person to go to hell. XD

Agree. This is my first drama with Aarif. I think he does a pretty good job playing the Wu You character. He is very good looking.

Yep, they are soul mate. Just that as it is, the way both actors are portraying it, it is overly cordial. They are so considerate for each other. I can't feel their passion and desire for each other. Maybe they have bigger and more important things on their minds (rightfully so).

Wow! Thanks for your analysis, especially on BuBuJinXin. I watched a few episodes in, and gave up because, like you, I didn't like those pig tails. But I think I'm going to return to that drama after this drama unless there are new good dramas that catch my attention.

OMG! I read this after I wrote to @ayume in the previous thread. It's really the Empress (I guess the wrong one though)! Poor Fu Chou. He's captured my heart more than Wu You has.

Rong Le has formed a prejudiced view against Fu Chou when she thinks he undermines her and takes her from Wu You in marriage. Then on, everything Fu Chou does seems to be bad. She blames him for everything from head to toe. But then again, Fu Chou doesn't seem to know Rong Le as well as Wu You does. He couldn't even recognize her when he sleeps with the wrong woman, and forces poison down the wrong woman's throat. Wu You on the other hand, can communicate with Rong Le in silence, knows what she is thinking by looking at her despite he also doesn't understand women that well and shuns away from them in the beginning.
