I agree. This is the perfect parent from a Chinese parent point of view. They decry the western parenting bullshit being too soft and too condoning on their kids. It's going to get even worse as the Chinese government has now declared to hold parents responsible if their kids step out of the norm.

I believe LX wants ZY to think that he's moving away from her; to think he's really after her for a purpose (not love) as her parents say - he's despicable, so that she gets angry and leaves for overseas studies as planned by the parents. He hasn't expected her to come back and fight for him, and that's exactly what he doesn't want her to get herself into.
