The female clothing, particularly the ladies of the court, doesn't seem to follow what is most popularly known as Tang dynasty's fashion. At first I had to check whether the story is about a fictional Tang kingdom, not THE Tang Empire -- but it looks more like the latter. It's nothing to be fussy about, of course, I'm just interested to know why. (Because Tang's fashion was quite particular, compared to other dynasties').

Thank you Erudite! I need to watch the first ep on Viki because it was a little hard for me to continue from where I was last at (ep 4) without understanding the characters etc. But will rewatch the prologue now.
Qu Chu Xiao has been nominated for Best New Actor for his role as Chang An in Bloody Romance in the 24th Huading…
I was just going to post it! He deserves to win, but the Huading system is a mix of industry recognition + popularity. The nominees are elected by judges from the industry, but the winners are voted by netizens. So it's very likely the most popular nominee will win. He's competing against, among others, Hu Yitian who's very popular. So we'll see. I do hope the system changes though, because it's been criticized before. And after the Golden Eagle fiasco, the Huading committee should be smarter now.
Regardless of the drama's flaws, I gotta say this is William Chan's best acting job so far. He showed layers and nuances that were lacking in his previous dramas.
PS. Thanks, Erudite, for the videos of two characters.
