Calling him Ian is correct because in Korea when you address someone by name you use their full name, which for…
Part of this too is a difference in pronunciation between English and Korean because English has diphthongs but Korean does not. So the vowels are pronounced separately and distinctly in Korean but glide together in English. I think a lot of English speakers struggle to separate those sounds properly. Putting a hyphen in the name would make it clearer. Honestly it doesn't bother me that much. I understand your objection though.

Review Climax
This was hilarious! And I agree with most of it except for two points:

~ Pretending sexual assault emotionally only affects women (because apparently men are fine being subject to it if it can advance their career): -50/10

I thought that scene made it pretty clear that Bang Tae Seop was traumatized by what happened and it was a deliberate parallel to what happened with Chu Sang Ah. And both were "rewarded" with career advancement. I found all of the assault scenes pretty realistic and incredibly hard to watch.

~ pretending a full on lesbian movie featuring one of the most prominent actresses as lead in a NSFW sex scene would even see the light of day in SK

Kim Taeri starred in The Handmaiden which has explicit lesbian scenes and a love story about women escaping men and became a big star as a result.

Wow that ending truly sucked. Nothing in the previous episodes made it remotely plausible that Bang Tae Seop and…
I know the leads aren't good people and there's no romance. But in the last episode Sang Ah seems warmer, friendlier and more trusting toward Bang Tae Seop than she'd ever been when they were married the first time. But there wasn't really any reason for her to change her behavior or trust him more, especially after he assaulted her. if they had become straight up enemies plotting against each other I would have found it more plausible than what we got. Have you watched the last two episodes? because then you would know who died.

Okay, I was ready to be disappointed, BUT- I actually liked the ending! I pretty much liked this whole episode…
I agree that thematically it made sense but I didn't think the way they got there made any sense at all. The plot was so full of holes, Jeong Won's behavior in eps 8 and 9 didn't make any sense, CSA and BTS holding onto evidence didn't make any sense, the Chairman coming out of a coma after two years didn't make any sense. I loved a lot of the drama but the writing was a mess. But all the flowers to Ju Ji Hoon and Ha Ji Won, they were absolutely brilliant.

Finale comments
Wow that ending truly sucked. Nothing in the previous episodes made it remotely plausible that Bang Tae Seop and Sang Ah could smoothly pull off that takedown of Yang Mi and take over WR group. And then the chairman waking up after what, two years? of being in a coma and Yang Mi suddenly getting out and they are pissing their pants. They didn't piss their pants when they were blackmailing all the men in Sang Ah's diary.

Also! if they had enough evidence stored up to take down Yang Mi why did they wait to use it? And another thing: Sang Ah thanking BTS when he blackmailed her into marriage and sexually assaulted her, like wtf. And she's a lesbian but they suddenly have a happy marriage? I'm also rolling my eyes hard at Jeong Won making an appearance during the thank you speech, like you killed her off but you still want to pull heartstrings their great love affair? Dumb. So dumb.

The ending brought down my overall rating to 7.5/10. The only thing I liked was the last shot of them entering the auditorium with a sign saying Entrance i.e. the entrance to hell.

ETA: I do want to add that the acting was brilliant, especially Ju Ji Hoon and Ha Ji Won. The way he acted just using his eyes deserves a Baeksang. And she was able to communicate a character who was a victim but also lying and manipulating people 99% of the time.

I agree with this. Also her husband had a soft spot for Sang Ah and Yang Mi must be thinking why does every man love this bitch

I don't necessarily think we know Yang Mi's real motive. Everyone lies all the time, including to themselves. Maybe we'll find out something tomorrow that flips her story.

I'm sorry but did everyone gloss over the ML committing a sex crime right from the very first episode?I'm actually…
The entire drama is improbable. No way Sang Ah could stage a comeback after being implicated in a murder. I think the whole thing can be treated as an allegorical fable.

Climax is about the link between politics and the entertainment industry and how actresses are treated like bargaining…
The westernized claim is garbage because Climax has been #1 on Disney+ for its entire run and it was #1 trending on Korean social media until Perfect Crown and Bloodhounds dropped. It's still in the top 3. If the Korean public is watching it then how can you say it's westernized? I feel like it's code for I infantilize Koreans and expect them to be sexless in order to satisfy my need for "pure" media.

I can understand the comments about the shock value, or the pacing, or the plot holes, but we all know for a fact…
Do you have links or can you point me to where people in Korea are discussing this online?

I feel like the director/screenwriter is making a point about the things women need to do in order to survive in a world where they are victimized, assaulted and exploited. The drama shows different strategies that women use: Sang Ah cosplays traditional femininity and helplessness to cover her ruthlessness and willingness to kill to stay on top; Yang Mi marries into a rich family, has an heir and then runs the company the way she thinks a man would; Jeong Won lives on the margins and also behaves like a man, albeit one who has to do dirty work for other people to stay alive. The women are twisted but it's men that made them that way.

You really saw this in episode 1 when Sang Ah was triggered and gagging in the hallway when the actor of her agency was ready to sleep with the mayor. I doubt Sang Ah cared about him at all as a person, it was more about stopping the cycle of exploitation that left her so damaged.

But little by little men are being eliminated by Sang Ah when they get in her way. The man who pimped her and Ji Soo out is dead and Yang Mi's husband is in a coma. Is Bang Tae Seop next? And where will Sang Ah and Jeong Won be in the end? Sang Ah is at least bisexual and very likely a lesbian since the only person she seems to have sincerely loved is Ji Soo. Will Sang Ah find love again with Jeong Won? Did Sang Ah and Jeong Won deliberately leak the video to screw over Bang Tae Seop? Will they do a Thelma and Louise only without the drive off the cliff? Or will Sang Ah find a way to dispose of Jeong Won now that she's a liability?

I agree with the people who say the plot is a mess and the actions of the characters are chaotic and don't make a lot of sense but this drama is much more about the vibes and a commentary on the lived experiences of women. The ways women are dependent on men, the way they are exploited by them and then in turn exploit them while the men think they're in control.

Calling him Ian is correct because in Korea when you address someone by name you use their full name, which for most people is three syllables. He only has two because he's a royal.
