I'm sorry but did everyone gloss over the ML committing a sex crime right from the very first episode?I'm actually…
The entire drama is improbable. No way Sang Ah could stage a comeback after being implicated in a murder. I think the whole thing can be treated as an allegorical fable.
Climax is about the link between politics and the entertainment industry and how actresses are treated like bargaining…
The westernized claim is garbage because Climax has been #1 on Disney+ for its entire run and it was #1 trending on Korean social media until Perfect Crown and Bloodhounds dropped. It's still in the top 3. If the Korean public is watching it then how can you say it's westernized? I feel like it's code for I infantilize Koreans and expect them to be sexless in order to satisfy my need for "pure" media.
I feel like the director/screenwriter is making a point about the things women need to do in order to survive in a world where they are victimized, assaulted and exploited. The drama shows different strategies that women use: Sang Ah cosplays traditional femininity and helplessness to cover her ruthlessness and willingness to kill to stay on top; Yang Mi marries into a rich family, has an heir and then runs the company the way she thinks a man would; Jeong Won lives on the margins and also behaves like a man, albeit one who has to do dirty work for other people to stay alive. The women are twisted but it's men that made them that way.
You really saw this in episode 1 when Sang Ah was triggered and gagging in the hallway when the actor of her agency was ready to sleep with the mayor. I doubt Sang Ah cared about him at all as a person, it was more about stopping the cycle of exploitation that left her so damaged.
But little by little men are being eliminated by Sang Ah when they get in her way. The man who pimped her and Ji Soo out is dead and Yang Mi's husband is in a coma. Is Bang Tae Seop next? And where will Sang Ah and Jeong Won be in the end? Sang Ah is at least bisexual and very likely a lesbian since the only person she seems to have sincerely loved is Ji Soo. Will Sang Ah find love again with Jeong Won? Did Sang Ah and Jeong Won deliberately leak the video to screw over Bang Tae Seop? Will they do a Thelma and Louise only without the drive off the cliff? Or will Sang Ah find a way to dispose of Jeong Won now that she's a liability?
I agree with the people who say the plot is a mess and the actions of the characters are chaotic and don't make a lot of sense but this drama is much more about the vibes and a commentary on the lived experiences of women. The ways women are dependent on men, the way they are exploited by them and then in turn exploit them while the men think they're in control.
Lol sorry but bws literally can't act..he has the same 2 expressions even after getting slapped by the female…
He was great in Lovely Runner but he's not the kind of actor who can bring tsundere characters to life. But it's not enough to ruin the show for me, I enjoyed the first episode
Why is everybody already complaining about this drama? It just started and it delivers what it was promised: comedy,…
Calling him Ian is correct because in Korea when you address someone by name you use their full name, which for most people is three syllables. He only has two because he's a royal.
Why are “Queen Mothers” like that towards the Grand Prince?! Every time something goes bad they are quick…
Because she's the real ruler while her son is still a child and before he's old enough to assume full responsibilities as the king. But the Grand Prince is beloved and it's possible that he could go after the throne using his popularity as leverage. This is a very standard sageuk plot but it doesn't make as much sense in a modern monarchy where the role is just ceremonial.

Wow I think you're so right about her not being able to do this with a completely single man. She just knows how…
I have such a fondness for this drama though because so few creators try to do anything different or daring especially in China because of all the restrictions on content. So I truly appreciate that they tried even if it fell short. I think China more than any other country in Asia really makes it difficult for anyone to make good content.

It has overthrew #HiddenLove as the most-viewed cdrama in Netflix history, and it now dominates the domestic and internationally audiences."
