I'm sure it's being coordinated by fans, I've seen them on Reddit too. It's okay to admit your fave was in a bad drama, it doesn't make them a bad actor. No one in this production put in a bad performance, this is all on the writer

There was a teaser that was drastically different from the final product, like a completely different storyline. So it seems like a bait and switch for the actors.

Why not both?

This teaser is so different from the end product that my conspiracy brain is conjecturing that a right-wing billionaire dumped a huge amount of money on the production so they would rewrite the script. That's the only way I can explain the changes and the pro birth messaging.
