One of the characters writes erotica and it's scenes from her books which depict sex between her and a man she had a crush on in high school but it's very stylized and played for laughs.
is there many romantic scenes or just some sweet subtle romance till now? I want to watch this with my mother…
There's a lot of joking about sex and a scene where the FL buys condoms plus some fantasy sex scenes that aren't explicit but are clear about what's going on.
Is homophobia part of Korean mainstream culture? I noticed that they rarely have gay characters in reg dramas…
There's a far right wing government in office in Korea, many senior politicians are affiliated with right wing churches and there's been a push to refuse permits to pride parades and otherwise discriminate against the LGBTQIA community. This was just tweeted yesterday: "1/ Yesterday, Constitutional Court justice nominee Kim Bok-hyung was questioned about whether she "agreed with homosexuality" and whether it is linked to communism during her confirmation hearing. She stated there's no special relationship between the two." https://x.com/koryodynasty/status/1833736433573704184
Also a lot of Kdrama fans outside of Korea are incredibly regressive, it's depressing.
Yes, that seemed clear when he wanted his son to sign the document. But the wife was smart and proposed the same…
I think the mom is going to expose Ji UK to ruin her husband with a scandal and put her son into the chairman's spot. she most definitely knew what was going on at that dinner and Hae-yeong thought to herself that she was the real power behind the throne.
My prediction is that Bok Gyu Hyun will become the chairman and Ji UK will run an organization to help orphans. But I'm curious where Hae-yeong will end up in all this, she's going to hate it when she finds out the attention she's been getting from the chairman is because of her husband. I think it's going to cause a breakup...before they're officially together π
Yes, but he is kinda making up for what he is taking away from her, as for now he can only stand by and watch…
I love this analysis, agree with all of it and especially about Hae-yeong realizing her privilege and the gifts her mother gave her. But also Ji Uk learning that he doesn't have to be perfect to be loved and that it's better to be fully honest with her.
HAHAHHAA there is one mad person in the comments that love next door isnβt doing as well.news flash, love next…
LND is like a Frankenstein's monster of tropes stitched together and characters who don't feel like real people. Meanwhile, NGNL is very tropey but the way the drama colors in the lines of the tropes is special. The dialogues crackle, women's sexuality is a big part of the drama, as in women of all ages and levels of experience desire sex and enjoy it when they have it. The drama also calls out unfair treatment of women at work. But nothing about this drama feels lecturey, the writing is sharp and funny and the actors are killing it.
Hmm did Ji Uk have a childhood crush on Hae Yeong? I don't think these feelings for her came from nowhere and…
He was one of her mother's foster kids (but after she'd already graduated from college) and he knew who she was when she started going to the convenience store where he worked so he had a reason to be interested in her from the start and then over the years started to catch feelings for her.
I love the whole slow mo during the water bottle scene, lol. The most obvious answer to what's going on with Ji…
She does know he's cheating and I hope they get into her headspace a bit more about why she's willing to put up with it and how that may be influencing her to not want to get married to anyone. As a foster she might have PTSD from child abuse or witnessed her father abusing her mother and that will do a number on someone's self esteem. This episode might be some kind of prelude to showing the effects of abuse on all the foster kids: Ji Uk, Hui Seong and Ja Yeon (she had a trauma response to the hate comments)
which scenes are the cheating moment? (also number of ep) cuz i don't remember.. pls tell me. thank you!
In the first episode he meets a woman in his recording studio and later Hui Seong finds her earring between the sofa cushions. Ja Yeon also sees him meet a woman for a date in episode 4.
Somebody on Reddit pointed out that he didn't just say "I'm her husband," he said "I'm Team Lead Son Hae-yeong's husband" as a callback to how Hae-yeong said she wants to be known as a Team Lead and not someone's wife πππ
