Best drama of 2024 so far, it was a fantastic watch. I really enjoyed watching it and I might go back to rewatch…
New Life Begins has similar vibes! Plus, there's no angst with the main couple.

Me watching this and thinking that the actress who plays Shaoyao looks like Shangguan Qian from My Journey to You and then looking it up and being right lol. For a second I was like "nah, they probably just look similar" because the characters are so so different. So, I was surprised to see this level of skill from an actor who hasn't had many main roles yet. Very impressed!

The ML has no charisma at all and is to blend... Dropping this one.
I finished it but I honestly disliked the ML's character. He was just really childish and off-putting to me. There's one scene where he tells the FL he's going to be away for a few days and she basically says okay and then he's all like "I wish you were more like other girls who cry and beg their man not to leave." *barfs* Ope, sorry she feels secure in her relationship...wouldn't want that! *rolls eyes* lol

I somehow tricked myself into thinking that just maybe just maybe we wouldn't get a breakup and it would be more…
Usually, I find the 3 or 4 episodes of breakup just unbearable to watch. Is it like that?

I’m getting “New Life Begins” vibes from this 👀 And since NLB is one of my favorite dramas, I may have…
Yes, it does have those vibes!

now that breakup was unnecessary 🙄
I somehow tricked myself into thinking that just maybe just maybe we wouldn't get a breakup and it would be more about the FL helping her family make a comeback BUT NOOO

I'm curious about what your definition of a HE is because I've def seen dramas where I classified it as a HE but people in the comments were complaining that the ending was abrupt with no scenes of them happily living married life or whatever. I guess for me, just seeing that the main leads are alive and supposedly together in love is good enough for me to classify as a HE. I think my definition of a HE probably comes from watching a lot of Republican Era dramas where you're lucky if both the main leads even stay alive.

Same haha! Here's a custom list I made of Xianxia, Wuxia, and Ancient China c dramas with HE that might be of interest to you https://kisskh.at/list/LAlqZlw1. I also have other watchlists for Republican Era dramas and mini costume dramas with HEs

哈哈哈 I love how the writer was like “this is my first BE (Bad Ending aka sad ending) and I promise to never do it again,” which is just so ironic because these types of storylines typically have an open or sad ending. Plus, to promise viewers that you’ll never do it again sounds ridiculous. The screenwriter or author doesn’t always have control over every aspect of their work even though it’s theirs. The company their contract is with or publishers will tell them to change things sometimes. Also, those types of social media posts are supposed to peak the viewers’ interest enough to keep them watching but certainly not too much to reveal the outcome of the plot. What a joke.

yeah I was hoping to be able to be fully caught up with my round of watching tonight but looks like I have to…
I'm also hoping its just that someone at IQIYI forgot to click upload or something for the English subs. I've seen dramas where they just stop subbing it midway through (I'm looking at you, MangoTV) but IQIYI isn't the type of streaming service to have that issue, plus this drama has a lot of viewers.

If only this drama haave gotten more budget ,, it would have been up up there
I felt like the budget was pretty high compared to others I've seen. The sets are absolutely gorgeous and same with the level of cinematography. In low budget productions cinematography seems to be almost non-existent, just the basic camera angles with little to no thought for artistry. Plus, they actually seem to have a good number of sets.

Um, so IQIYI just released episodes 17 and 18 at 11:30 PM EST (as per usual) but no English subs. All of the other episodes released at that time had English subs. I'm able to understand a good amount of it in Mandarin, but still...
