what is the actual plot of this drama going to be? Like I read the description and still don't know what story…
Pretty sure there will be at least some chaebol drama
On It's Okay to Not Be Okay Jun 3, 2023
The intimate, human themes felt at odds with the trappings of big budget cable drama, i.e. rampant product placement and female lead character styled to within an inch of her life. That level of artifice aside, this show was enjoyable and Seo Yeji was standout. It felt refreshing how her character unapologetically expressed her desires (sexual and otherwise). Momentum faltered towards the end once a certain character was out of the picture and the self-sacrifice got repetitive. I would've liked the show to lean in and explore the complexities and problematic elements of the relationship rather than romanticise it all, but after all it's a k-drama!

The setup is a bit laboured to start with but after that it's cartoonish, escapist fun even if it doesn't exactly reinvent the genre wheel. Kim Woobin is always a delight.

Namkoong Min has been posting on insta about this as recently as 23 May so it doesn’t seem cancelled. It might be quite a while before it airs though since Ahn Eunjin only just wrapped filming on Good Bad Mother in March

Definitely need more sageuk about female historical figures. And the fact that it’s on cable suggests it’s not gonna be a 50+ episode daeha-style situation.

Wow this would be like the first kdrama set during 1950s? So excited!
There have been a few others (Comrades, Road No. 1, some drama specials) but I guess they’d be considered “old” now

Joo Jihoon was still in his wooden era but otherwise I remember this being good and making me cry a lot

There better be some next-level visual effects to explain why this is still in post-production

To people who read the webtoon:Will this have a melodrama element or is it more of just a light romcom and no…
Netflix described it as "rom-com", "heart-stirring", "fantasy"

It is not really short 12 episodes of 70 minutes. If you shorten the episodes to 60 minutes it can make 14 episodes.
I said "shorter", not "short"

King the Land is actually getting a lot of buzz in Korea even though it hasn’t aired yet, more so than any of…
Well yeah, that and the success of marketing campaigns. But since none of them have aired yet, there’s not much to go on to answer your question. High anticipation for a drama is a good start.

Story telling starts slow. Was kinda bored for the first 4 episodes before it started to pick up. My advice: Do…
I watch all Asian dramas at 1.25x speed! They really do like their long stares and dramatic silences too much.

I'm not usually too interested in remakes but I really like Kang Hoon. Intrigued to see what he can do with the character which I felt was a bit underdeveloped in the original.
On See You in My 19th Life May 31, 2023
Not really relevant but I'm very encouraged by this growing trend of shorter k-dramas (due to economic reasons, I guess). This brings them more in line with modern Western dramas and j-dramas. From what I've seen so far, it forces writers to be much more disciplined in their storytelling, which can only be a good thing.
