What’s wrong with casting a “half white chick”? There’s nothing wrong with that. Mai divika did a great…
LMAO this entire thread is crazy. What's so ironic here is that Reinee most likely isn't even Thai so they're just white knighting for a country and ethnicity they're not even a part of.
Also, the only people who use terms like "white worshipers" and concern themselves overly officiously with the racial politics of other countries are the incels who populate places like r/hapa. You know, the self-hating people who despise white people and hate every Asians who intermarry with non-Asians. I see this shit all over Reddit.
Filipino is a language that consists of a local language, Tagalog, plus English and Spanish words. As there are…
I'm sorry, but that previously reply simply isn't accurate. Filipino is not "made up of Tagalog plus English and Spanish words." Filipino is a language unto itself, capable of being spoken and written without any English words.
Filipino/Tagalog does have Spanish LOAN words (which is the Spanish that you hear), but these are Filipino words, not Spanish words. This is no different than English having French, Latin, or German loan words. For example, when you speak English and say a bunch of French-derived words like accoutrement, morale, or espionage, you're still speaking English, not French. Much in the same way that these words are considered English words with French origin, the Spanish words that you hear are technically Filipino/Tagalog words, with Spanish origin.
Code-switching occurs frequently in bi-lingual or multi-lingual societies, such as in India and the Philippines. So, to answer your question, Filipino is not made up of English, but Filipinos do talk like they do in the series.
Once again, if you are a BL protagonist, do not dare to be gullible, human, frail, do not ever dare to make a…
Thanks for posting this. I was going to post something similar but you saved me the trouble. Apparently viewers are incapable of enjoying a show with flawed characters. Every single character must be perfect like Snow White. As we all know, the great works of literature and film were all filled with unflawed characters. Like Hamlet in Shakespeare, for example.
The only actors that SHINED to me were Karissa and Z Mejias. Enzo and Darwin were mostly good. I agree that the…
Yes, agreed! Z and Karissa were also my picks for the best out of the cast.
I really went into this series with an open mind and wanting to like it, but I was also disappointed with the two leads. Darwin especially was not believable to me at all.
I'm really perplexed by some of the comments here. You can watch the series for free as long as you sign up for the FREE 1-month trial. Am I missing anything? Like what is preventing people from doing that?
Since it's been mostly positive comments, I'll throw in some critiques. Does anyone else think that the writer isn't as good as Ash? The dialogue just doesn't come across as natural compared to Gameboys. Also, Pearl is noticeably less funny here than in Gameboys.
I mean, I find it interesting how the writer seems to think he's being rebellious and non-conforming by NOT doing a happy ending. In actuality, what he has made is an LGBT series, so coming up with a tired, clichéd and run of the mill tragic ending is actually as conventional as it gets. He think it's interesting but it's not. We've all seen these stories before.
I mean it seems like he didn't get the point of BL, which is quite staggering since they tried to pass off this series as one.
So were the subs done purposely to say "him" when Jim was saying his truths or is his girlfriend either deaf or…
Tagalog has gender neutral pronouns so it was supposed to be translated in an ambiguous manner. Since English does not have gender neutral pronouns they had to make a choice between him or her and I guess they just went with him.
Pamilya ng mga burgis si Vlad, how he speaks is how I expected him to speak. They also live in condo units, so…
They sometimes take me out of the realness of the series, but they happen infrequently enough for me to just ignore. Though I agree I'd prefer if he toned it down. This is one of the reasons why I don't agree with the general consensus that this series has the most naturalistic and convincing acting amongst the PH BLs. I think Gameboys and Hello Stranger have more naturalistic acting. It honestly takes a reaaaallly amazing actor to make preachy lines sound natural.
This thing has officially unequivocally jumped the shark. Apparently the greatest magic trick ever pulled was by the editor of this series' trailer, convincing thousands that this would be at least pretty good.
If you want to watch BL why not just watch the BLs from all the other countries like Thailand?
Also, the only people who use terms like "white worshipers" and concern themselves overly officiously with the racial politics of other countries are the incels who populate places like r/hapa. Big yikes all around.

As for the English, that is called code-switching:

Ash Malanum tweets it'll be released globally so I assume this isn't just limited to Netflix Philippines: https://twitter.com/ashmalanum/status/1330725112153137153
