But in that case, it also makes sense to respect others who prefer to ask beforehand to avoid wasting time on something they won’t enjoy. Watching without checking anything is your choice, just like asking questions before watching is theirs. Neither approach is wrong, it just depends on what kind of viewer you are.

If you don’t want to answer, then just ignore it. Why are you doing a complete character assassination based only on their profile? Don’t you usually check reviews, genres, or whether a drama has 18+ content before watching it? It’s the same for them, there are plenty of dramas out there. If they don’t enjoy love triangles, breakups, or misunderstandings, they can simply skip those. Wouldn’t it be better for them to ask about it first instead of giving low ratings or complaining later when it doesn’t match their taste?

You are completely missing my point. I never said a guy should not be kind or good hearted to the woman he loves. What I am saying is that the romance in this drama is written in a way that is extremely one sided. The ML keeps giving, apologizing, chasing, and compromising, while the FL barely lifts a finger for him. If the roles were reversed and the ML was written as cold and self centered while the FL kept running after him, people would be criticizing him non stop. That double standard is exactly what I am calling out. About the surprise wedding, yes the FL had the right to be upset. But why is it always the ML who has to run after her and explain himself even when the misunderstanding is not fully his fault? Why does the drama always demand accountability only from the man, while the woman is allowed to sulk and act selfish? That is not equality, that is bias. You also excused her mother’s seduction of her father as “played for laughs.” So when a woman uses deceit or manipulation it is comedy, but if a man did the same thing, you would call it toxic and predatory. That is pure hypocrisy. Comedy does not erase the fact that the act itself was wrong. And this ties back to the biggest problem. Whenever women face neglect or abuse in this drama, it is treated seriously and dramatically. But when men face the same thing, it is brushed off as a joke or played for laughs. Abuse is abuse, no matter who suffers it. If you cannot call it out equally, then you are proving the exact bias I am pointing out. Just because you have not seen any problems with how women deal with men in this drama does not mean that I have to be in support of your point. We are two individuals watching the drama with our own perspective so it does not matter whether our views match or not because different perspectives and individuals result in different drama watching knowhows. If you cannot understand a basic point like that then I can only say watch and read more to build up your knowledge.

Suppose a man did the same thing in a drama, would you still justify it? We can even argue that Yin Song’s second wife, the FL’s friend, did stupid things too because she mingled with his enemies, does that mean his torture of her throughout the drama is justified now? Yes, SQY comes from a kingdom where women are dominant, but that does not make it right to use that as a free pass to abuse someone who meant no harm to her. If she was so turned off by Yin Qi’s behavior, she should have left earlier and gone back to her kingdom instead of dragging it out. Now about Yin An, you make it sound like only he was at fault while his wives were innocent flowers who could not do any wrong. But were we shown anywhere that he kidnapped or forced them to become his wives? He used his charms and wealth to attract them, and they willingly accepted knowing full well he already had other wives. So how is it solely his fault? If you agree he had no respect or love for them, fine, but then why did those wives not leave the house earlier? Why stay, lie, and harm him under the guise of love? The truth is they enjoyed eating, drinking, and living luxuriously, and that is why they did not walk away. But that still does not justify them using contraceptive medicines to make him impotent for a time. That was ethically and morally wrong. If they did not want children, they could have simply told him instead of resorting to cheap tricks. If you do not see the fault in that, then I understand why you sound like a pseudo feminist of today’s generation. Both Yin An and his wives were wrong, and both should be called out instead of selectively praising one side like you are doing.

Novels are always better than dramas, Chingu. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a drama outshine its novel (except JOL). In this one, there were just too many plot holes that didn’t make sense, and they cut out several important scenes, which ruined the overall plot cohesion for me. If I were to rate it, I’d give the novel of LOFG a full 100 points, but the drama would only get 50–60 at best. You should read it when you have time because while it's not a masterpiece, it's still much more enjoyable than the drama with better characters and without much loose ends.

Of course, you have every right to praise it just like others have the right to criticize. The problem is, why call it an adaptation when almost 50 to 60 percent of the drama is different from the novel? That feels deceiving to loyal readers who were eagerly waiting to see the same story brought to life. At that point, it is not really an adaptation, it is more like "inspired by." It is the same as buying a snack that is promoted as healthy, but after eating it you find out it is actually unhealthy. Wouldn’t you feel betrayed? That is exactly how novel fans feel. We do not hate changes. If the drama had improved on the novel, we would praise it too. But when the altered content turns out worse, of course people are going to criticize. Both perspectives matter and that is why comparison is not just fair, it is necessary.

But that’s exactly the point, this is an adaptation of a novel and not an original story. If the drama makers took inspiration from the book, then comparisons are inevitable. Saying “don’t compare” doesn’t make sense because a huge chunk of the audience came here because of the novel. If the drama changes too much or weakens the essence of the characters, people have every right to point it out. Praising blindly doesn’t help either & criticism and comparison are what keep standards high, otherwise every adaptation could get away with mediocrity just like this one
