Prepare for your life to change. i have 5 eps left of season 2 and I'm so scared to finish this show because I loved it so much. I would say ep 7 is when I became hooked so have a bit of patience for the first ep because they introduce worldbuilding and characters to you. There's also loads of crazy plot twists. It's the ML for me that made the show, he's such a deeply layered character. He can be arrogant, impulsive, brash, but then he's also vulnerable, and sweet and loving and gentle. And he truly believes all people are born and made equal which during the historical times is an unheard of concept. It's also one of the rare shows where the transmigration concept actually comes up during the show, I don't want to spoil anything but my mind was blown. One of my all time favourite dramas for sure.

I have a massive crush on him, his character development is INSANE, have some patience with the first eps, but he does get a major glow up as well, but I've always thought he was handsome from the beginning

Joy of life is also amazing but its completely different to The Double. I also like the ML even more than WXY hes just incredible 😍

What's been your favourite cdrama you've seen? It seems you've watched a lot. And yeah I started watching cdramas at the end of 2024 and at first I dropped them like crazy because couldn't get used to the style of filming. I'm also not a fan of xianxia, I just feel like I don't get it. I'm also not the biggest fan of extremely romantic stories which is what xianxia is based on. At the start of January I found the drama Flourished Peony and that is what got me hooked on cdramas because I realised what it is that I want from my stories. I prefer historical stories with little to no fantasy, a compelling plot that isn't centered on romance, gorgeous cinematography and stunning costumes, if all those requirements are met 9/10 I'm going to like that drama. That being said there is a xianxia I'm interested in called Whispers of Fate/Shui Long Yin. The budget for this drama is crazy, they created an entire town from scratch just to film this drama and they are going to open the town for tourism. It's so beautiful. I want to check out the show for the budget alone. That's sad about the horses being treated badly. I think there was a kdrama called Korea-Khitan war or something similar where a horse actually died on set due to mistreatment. In the historical drama First Night with the Duke which is airing right now, the production crew actually damaged a historical heritage site!

I've got 6 eps left of joy of life so I'm trying to savour them. Theres supposed to be another season so I'm looking forward to that. I've never seen Under the Microscope. I'll add it to my list! Have you seen Flourished peony thats another really good drama!

And i think the issue is when i look at my fav kdramas, its still the same shows i watched like 2-3 years ago, and anything new I'm watching doesn't leave that much of an impression on me. Wheras every costume cdrama I've picked up this year has been a masterpiece

Ive never watched a modern cdrama they just dont interest me. I'm watching a costume cdrama rn called Joy of Life and its my all time favourite show its blows all the kdramas ive watched out of the water (and ive seen a lot bc ive been watching kdramas since 2018 lol) the only exception is weak hero season 1 (but that drama has a special place in my heart) but yeah when it comes to Joy of Life I cant think of a kdrama that can match its scale of creative storytelling. I do enjoy saeguks from time to time though

Yes im watching season 2 rn and ive got 6 episodes left. I only recently started watching cdramas but this show is one of my all time favourite shows in general. Its up there with attack on titan imo
