Don't waste your time honestly, if you want bromance try fangs of fortune

I'm not trying to be rude, but the only reason I wanted to check out this drama was for the BL/Bromance angle, adding two female love interests is just a massive slap in the face. If I wanted to watch a straight drama, why on earth would I choose a poorly edited cobbled together drama when there are dozens more with better acting, storyline and overall portrayal (for example Prisoner of Beauty, Flourished Peony, Love Like The Galaxy). I'm willing to give lower budget projects a chance if its BL/Bromance because I'll take what I can get. But why go out of your way to pick a BL manhua specifically (when there are dozens of straight stories) and adapt that? Its as if they are personally trying to aggravate people. And even if you can't make it BL, why not make it a bromance? Why does it have to have some half contrived romance slapped in, when you KNOW the only people willing to check out this garbage show are BL/bromance fans. Very disappointing.

I know, I just miss kdramas sometimes, I looked at some the kdramas that have come out this year and none of them have caught my eye apart from When Life Gives You Tangerines and The Haunted Palace

I 100% agree with you! Flourished Peony was gorgeous from start to finish, I'm still struggling to find another drama like it.

Hey you might enjoy Legend of Zhang Hai for a more serious plot. If youd prefer romance + a serious plot Love like the Galaxy and Flourished Peony is amazing!

Just a thought because I know the show wouldn’t exist without this, but isn’t what the Masters did to Zhang Hai so incredibly cruel? He was a very young boy who has just lost his family and friends. Instead of helping him heal and move on, they deliberately planted ideas of revenge into his head which will undoubtedly put his life in terrible danger. I sometimes think what his life would be like if he moved away and lived a quiet life out somewhere. I notice throughout the show when Zhang Hai is progressing or showing happiness that his Master his will try to find a way to curb it. For example when he took Zhang Hai to his old home where his family was murdered. I think that was a truly terrible thing to do. I know that they want to stir up those feelings of revenge, but I can’t help but think its incredibly selfish...What did they tell Zhang Hai again? Trust no-one.

I enjoyed a lot of comments you made, they are very detailed and thoughtful. And the main focus of this show is the ML-villain dynamic, so I don't know why people are shocked that its being picked up on - that's the whole point lol! I don't mind the FL in this either, the show isn't finished yet so it'll be interesting to see where they take her character.

They're just being a troll just ignore them. when i mentioned 'old man yaoi' i was joking, i don't ship them literally. And yes I agree that acting and character chemistry is not the same as romantic chemistry. If people find their relationship more compelling than the FL and ML relationship then that's their opinion. At the end of the day its a fictional show and it can be interpreted in any way the viewer wishes.

Being an actor is quite difficult. The thing with the drama is the costumes, sets and makeup is gorgeous but the editing and weird blue filter they added, + the botched sound editing really ruins it
