I was going to rate this a 10, I love the theme, I really like the whole cast, but the last two episodes made me really mad, so I’m dropping it to a 9. I usually can’t handle seeing First cry, just like with Java, if they cry, I cry along. But not even First could make me feel the slightest empathy for Karn. He literally tried to kill his so-called friend, he teamed up with a terrible guy, and he threatened a woman who had just survived a murder attempt while she was vulnerable, scared, and hospitalized. I honestly don’t get why they wanted us to feel sorry for Karn. I don’t buy into that idea that you have to forgive everyone no matter what, to me that’s just nonsense. If someone ever tried to kill or purposely hurt one of my loved ones, I would never forgive them.
I do understand why the others didn’t want him to die, because they’re good people and doctors, saving lives is part of who they are. But being sad about him being in bad shape? No way. Of course, I wouldn't wish him to be hurt too, but I definetely woudn't feel sad for him. That’s his karma catching up with him, plain and simple. And let’s be real, he was never a friend. You can clearly see he was jealous of him since school. That’s not friendship, friends should support each other and be happy for each other’s success. (-_-")
In the end, Karn was the only one making sense. He straight up said: 'Don’t call me a friend, ’cause friends don’t try to kill each other.' ¯\\(ツ)/¯
Then Thap said back: "But did I die though?" and I swear, that tilted me for real… (っ °Д °)っ
I don’t hate Van, but I grew up in a household with a dynamic similar to Farm’s situation with his parents…
I agree, he’s still really young, so a bit of immaturity is normal. I’m just glad he hasn’t done anything too damaging to Farm and himself, nothing that could leave deep scars like the ones Farm's parents’ dynamics caused. That’s why I root for him. His bond with Farm and his friends feels like the kind of support that will help him grow into a better person instead of going down a destructive path.
Unfortunately, in real life, not everyone gets that chance. Without good friends, role models, or a healthy environment, a lot of people stay stuck in harmful patterns that get harder to break the longer they go on.
It’s actually great that Farm managed to step away from his family and carve out his own path. Even better that he found (or was found by) such a solid group of friends who helped him along, and that he could give back and help them too, especially Van. I didn’t get the same luck, so seeing them both find better outcomes in life makes me genuinely happy. ヽ(✿゚▽゚)ノ
Thanks for the encouragement! I’ll try to stay positive, just like Farm! (づ ̄3 ̄)づ❤️
It is quite different. The series is a Lighter and Funnier version of the novel. The novel also has explicit sexual content. And the plot is way more dramatic. They have different approaches, so it is worthy reading after watching the show.
But Van and Farm are not a couple in the novel... So don't worry, you won't be mad at Van and suffer for Farm twice...
Aww, these 4 boys want to kill me with all that sweetness!! And the moment Van started talking about his house,…
I don’t hate Van, but I grew up in a household with a dynamic similar to Farm’s situation with his parents and Van. One person in the couple doesn’t realize how much the other does for them, lies and hides things, takes it all for granted and manipulates their feelings to make them stay attached to them. Meanwhile, the other keeps giving in and doing everything, even knowing their effort won’t be seen or matched. That’s why it’s hard for me not to feel hurt by Van’s actions. My mother is a lot like Farm , she keeps giving in and taking care of my father anyway, even after feeling hurt. So, as a child of a couple with this kind of dynamic, it hits close to home. Still, I really hope Van changes for good and that they end up in a healthy relationship. ヾ(@⌒ー⌒@)ノ
Although I am almost 30 I've never had a romantic relationship because I am just like Farm said in episode 10, by living in this situation, I don't believe in "true love", because the exemples I have in my life are not positive.
"Maybe I know somewhere Deep in my soul, that love never lasts And we've got to find other ways To make it alone or keep a straight face And I've always lived like this Keeping a comfortable distance And up until now, I had sworn to myself That I'm content with loneliness Because none of it was ever worth the risk" - The only exception, Paramore
But I guess Farm's is Van's "The only exception". I am still to find mine... if I ever will... I hope Van becames Farm's exception too.
I'm so glad they cleared out everything. Next episode better bring out the best of JJinn, FarmVan and Mai!
At first I was like, "Dang it, Farm and Van finally patched things up, and now Jinn and Jerome are on a break… oh wait... nope, it’s more like a five‑minutes timeout.. Nevermind..." (ˉ▽ ̄"~)
And the novel shows what they are up do 5,10 and I think 15 years later. I really loved that part.
Same! I love knowing everything works out for them in the end, no more suffering or tragedies, just happiness and love! And it’s even better that we know they’ll stay friends forever, with each of them living a happy life and starting their own families, like Van getting married and everyone showing up at his wedding. It’s just perfect! ヽ(✿゚▽゚)ノ
Will this end without a clear ending? Like, will Jerome ask Jinn to give him a chance to change things so it doesn’t play out like in his vision, and then Jinn agrees, and they end up enjoying their time together at the beach? Is that how it’s going to wrap up? ’Cause honestly, I can’t see what else could happen, and the next one is supposed to be the last episode. I also think it’ll be the same for Farm and Van, they’ll get back together, we’ll see Van making small changes in himself, and then we’ll just assume what happens to them in the future, or something along those lines. I don’t mind if that’s the case, but I’d really like a stronger conclusion for them, something that makes us sure they’ll be happy in the end. I only like happy endings, I don’t care if it feels repetitive, I’ll always prefer them.
!!!!! MINOR NOVEL SPOILER ALERT BELOW, READ AT YOUR OWN RISK !!!!
OBS: I’m saying this because in the novel they actually get a full conclusion, since Jerome wished to God and was granted for a reset in their lives back to when they were 20, so they could start over and live a truly happy life together. If the series doesn’t show this part properly resolved, it’ll feel pretty sad. I really like the certainty the novel gives us about their future together.
I’m loving SurfJava’s chemistry… the way they speak with their eyes is crazy good, but FarmVan’s relationship…
I agree! Surf and Java are incredible actors. I've seen them in previous projects, Surf in 'I saw you in my dream' and Java in 'Summer Night' and all I can say is I am pretty glad that this two are working together! ヾ(@⌒ー⌒@)ノ🤟🙏🫶❤️✨
First of all, giving Java such a terrible character for his first romance with Surf was a bad move by the writers and director. People are annoyed by Van, and rightfully so, and that risks making the duo look bad. It is going to be hard for some viewers to feel the chemistry between them, although I hope most will give them a chance in their next projects, MuTeLuv and Roommate Chaos.
It feels like such a harsh contrast when you remember that SeaKeen’s first project was OnlyBoo, a wholesome, romantic, and cute story. Even with the difference in acting between Sea and Keen, since Keen is already a very consistent actor while Sea is still improving, we could feel their chemistry and wanted to follow them for more.
Observation: (Sea honestly surprised us all in a really good way as Jerome, but I’m putting some of his “bad acting” down to the direction. He’s not the strongest actor out there, sure, but we’ve already seen him pull off emotional crying scenes and romantic kissing scenes in OnlyBoo, and he was way better there than in Head2Head. Some of his moments here just looked off or awkward, and I don’t think that’s on him, since we know he can deliver better. And what proves my point is that it goes the same for Keen, his crying scene in Jan’s death felt flat, while in OnlyBoo the Station 0 scene was absolutely heartbreaking. So yeah, I’m definitely blaming the direction for that.)
Surf and Java are both great and consistent actors already, but their arc kind of sabotaged them, which is pretty sad. It is especially noticeable because Farm is the sweetest, kindest, and honestly the best character in the series, while Van is the only problematic one. The contrast is crazy, and the way they made Farm accept all the crap so easily makes me mad at him too. He knew all along that Van was bad for him, yet he kept giving him chances over and over, until Farm himself changed for the worse. Unfortunately, if you play with fire, you end up burned, and I can no longer be 100% on Farm’s side because of his own choices.
It is actually hard for me, as someone who read the novel, to understand why they created this relationship between Farm and Van, since they barely interact in the book. What makes it worse is that they gave Van all the bad traits of both Jinn and Jerome. In the novel, those two are troublemakers, players, not serious about anyone, and not exactly nice, more like sarcastic “nice guys.” They even showed that at the beginning, with Jerome hitting on Jinn’s love interests like Beam just for "fun". But at least in the novel they also had good sides, and they evolved into a decent relationship. Here, they gave Van all the trash parts, and then made Farm the punching bag.
(ง •_•)ง ALSO, I HAVE TO POINT THIS OUT, they made it seems like Jerome was the annoying one, and that Jinn was the "victim" of his "bullying", when in the novel, we see that they compete with each other all the time, both of them starts the bickering. I've seen alot of comments about how Jerome annoyed them so much to the point of them dropping the show at the beggining. The writers didn't know how to balance well the characters.
Honestly, Farm’s theme song could be Try by P!nk, or at least that has to be the writers favorite song, 'cause It fits him too well, I can almost hear the lyrics running through his head whenever he thinks about Van:
"Ever wonder about what he's doing, how it all turned to lies Sometimes I think that it's better, to never ask why...
Where there is desire, there is gonna be a flame Where there is a flame, someone's bound to get burned But just because it burns doesn't mean you're gonna die You've gotta get up and try, try, try...
Funny how the heart can be deceiving, more than just a couple times Why do we fall in love so easy, even when it's not right?"
I’m not even going to rate this because I couldn’t finish the first episode. Honestly, I only started watching because Fluke was in the cast, but I got really annoyed with the main character, Dee (or whatever his name was). It felt like that one guy wasn't allowed to simply not have romantic feelings for him, the other doctor, he had to give some “acceptable” excuse in Dee’s eyes, and even then Dee got mad and stormed off.
Then his so‑called “friend” took him out to “get wasted,” drank with him, and still drove them home, which was already stupid and irresponsible. But it got worse: he dropped Dee, completely drunk, on a busy road to find his way back. Dee even said he was going to look for someone to take home with him… like, he was drunk and planning to find a random stranger, and his “friend” just let him go.
And if that wasn’t enough, the boxer guy was the cherry on top of the nonsense. He knew Dee was drunk and out of his mind, while he himself was sober, and still tried to hook up with him. He even gave Dee five seconds to “decide”, as if a drunk person can think straight! That was the point I got too annoyed and dropped the show.
I might just skip through and watch Fluke’s scenes (or maybe not cause I don't want to get annoyed by his character... I don't even know if he is going to make me mad or not, but still). The actors are cute and seem talented. But that’s honestly all I have left to say.
I get that not every story needs to have “green flag” characters. But personally, I just can’t enjoy a romance when most of the characters are problematic, specially the leads. We’re supposed to root for them, find their interactions cute and romantic… but instead I’m just sighing every time they do something dumb. That’s a no from me.
Dropped it like bad Wi‑Fi, no connection, no regrets. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I can't believe Fluke and Lego are not actually girls lol. In this they were more girly than most girls (including…
Even back during Project Alpha, they already carried a more feminine energy, despite not wearing this makeup, dresses and skirts, long nails, or having long hair. I was (and still am) quite sad that Fluke didn’t get to join LYKN, he would have been the perfect fit as a sixth member. His vibe is so similar to Lego’s, imagine having both of them... ✪ ω ✪
Perhaps it was a misinterpreting of role vs their own expectations. Dunk was way more emotive in this series than…
My first time watching JoongDunk was in THK, and then I moved on to the first couple of episodes of Dare You to Death. Right away, I noticed a big difference in Dunk’s acting. My first thought was, ‘Wow, he’s really improved!’ Now that I am watching their older projects, like this one, I realized Dunk actually feels stronger here than he did in THK. Maybe it depends on the characters or how we connect to them, I’m not sure. ( ̄▽ ̄)"
I feel the same way about Pooh from PoohPavel and Sea Talay from SeaKeen. They’re not always consistent, but you can definitely see their growth over time. Sea Talay is actually my favorite actor alongside Surf Patchara, not because of his acting alone, but because of his charisma. I’ll watch his shows no matter what, even if the acting isn’t perfect. And honestly, that’s the same reason I keep watching Pooh and Dunk too.(づ ̄3 ̄)づ❤️
But, specially because of their partners, Joong, Pavel, and Keen, who are already excellent and really consistent actors, it’s hard for us not to make comparisons. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Nong Nooong is a shrimp mounting an otter. Just saying…
(ง •_•)ง Why... did you... do this... to me?!?!?! I cannot unsee it.... and the fact that I always considered that Sea was the Otter and Keen was the Shrimp....
Sorry Sea, but you can't scape KeenSea at this point.....
I do understand why the others didn’t want him to die, because they’re good people and doctors, saving lives is part of who they are. But being sad about him being in bad shape? No way.
