Title The Legend of Shen Li Spoiler
The scene where Shen Li's dad and her come face to face, the sweet words spoken by her father were so touching…
You're so right. I definitely want to rewatch now after knowing everything. It was such a unique xianxia and the leads were so different than the typical characters we get in this genre. They were so clever, strong, and goofy. I loved them <3

Hopefully his attitude did improve, but I just want to point out that Ren Min was also rude to him in the livestream.…
I have to call BS. Nothing she did was purposefully rude, he was a blatant little asshole.

Title The Legend of Shen Li Spoiler
The last third of this drama is by far the best part. I want to gush about my favorite scene in the show down…
The scene where Shen Li's dad and her come face to face, the sweet words spoken by her father were so touching but omg ZLY's face. She conveyed exactly what she needed to with no words required. She had me in tears. She was great the whole show, but those last few episodes she was fantastic. The last scene between her and Mofang, the scene with her and XZ in the barrier, the scene where XZ dies, she killed it in every one. I'm happy she's been doing more diverse roles and getting more recognition as an artist, but I have to admit how much this xianxia warmed my heart to see her in.

MNG has the most regal demeanor of any male lead I've ever seen. He truly gives off the impression of a nobleman. So elegant and masculine. I can't get over how brilliant he was in this.

The main characters are so stupid and contrived that it's unbearable. The story is already very bad. I forgot…
It's clear from your ratings that you don't even like most asian dramas yet you keep watching them. Go watch anime and be a pissy little man somewhere else.

As far as romcoms go, this was exceptional. They could not have picked better leads. They actually felt like they liked each other, and not just because the script told us they did. The way they looked at each other was perfect.

He’s retired after he got married to Ruby Lin. He’s been babysitting their daughter. He’s made lots of money…
He's not babysitting, he's parenting. It's his child.

Title Dear Mayang Street Spoiler
I very much so disagree. After the ML treated her poorly at that bar place and she got drunk the ML said he thought…
Oh for sure Reply 1988 handled it way better. It was a completely different story though lol, Reply's whole gimmick is not knowing who she's going to end up with. DMS made people believe that the SML was going to stay the SML and everyone was expecting her to stay with the ML and not ever like the SML back. I mentioned in another comment the subtle ways they let us know that the FL actually did have some feelings for the SML throughout, just none of them were overt and they weren't easy to catch. They really just needed more time to show us how she got from the point where she was clearly in love with the ML to her feelings fading away and her ending up with the SML. I don't think it was just because she had no other choice or that they remained more friend-like. I think it was a completely different bond. She liked the ML as a teenager and that kind of love is so different from the kind of love that you have with a person who you're going to build a life with. The relationship with the SML was calm and reliable. I don't think she was a shadow of her former self, I just think she grew up. I agree the drama didn't include any passion in their relationship which is a bummer, but I liked the little clues they gave us as to why she did end up with him. It was a really good drama, but like honestly it could have used ten more episodes to flesh things out.

Yeah that I totally understand. I wanted more time with them to develop the relationship because it was somewhat abrupt. They spent so much time on the FL and ML that once it got to the FL and SML there was very little time devoted to them.

I also think though that many drama viewers in general are just uncomfortable when dramas subvert expectations and don't have the first ML end up with the girl. Most of the time it's unheard of for the FL to end up with someone other than the ML. Even when male leads die they usually end up just making the FL alone but here they didn't do that. And it upset a lot of the audience. I remember when Reply 1988 came out people were PISSED that she ended up with Taek. But I personally think it's refreshing.

Ethan Juan's expressions are the best part. He is so good at comedy. Not in a mean way, but he's got a dumb clueless looking face that just really cracks me up.
