Well, this drama adaptation features King Lee Heon. So as I said, most viewers won't even be aware that there was a connection to Yeonsan in the source material. There will probably be a few knetz trying to stir up shit for no reason, as there always is. But an adaptation is not its source material.
And there are plenty of successful Nazi romances in European film and TV. Kate Winslet even won an Oscar playing a Nazi guard in an age-gap romance with a minor. Plenty of romance dramas with questionable kings too, like Henry VIII and Anne Boleyn, the wife he had beheaded. But this isn't really comparable to any of that. Since the adaptation has removed the link to Yeonsan. Just a fictional romcom about a tyrant and his chef.
Didn’t read it yet but what’s with this long synopsis?
It's not a synopsis of the drama. For some reason someone posted the character descriptions for the main four characters instead, hence the length (a paragraph per character).
The Joseon King is specified in this kdrama is King Yeonsangun (reigned from 1494-1506). According to Wikipedia,…
Literally who cares? First of all, they changed the name. So most viewers won't even know that it's loosely based on some actual Joseon tyrant. I couldn't imagine caring about this.
Finally a new pic was approved for him! I tried to upload one during the airing of The Judge From Hell, but the admin who handled it said a new pic wasn't needed and rejected the submission 🙄
Show still holding at 8.6. Could have been a lot higher without Bongsu. I’ll still rate it a 10 when done but…
But most people seem to love Bongsu? The only ones complaining that I can see are the ones who are impatient about Seonga and Gyeonwoo's "dating era" - but this is not a romcom.
Feels like a winning combination though. Critical acclaim + popularity? If they pull it off, it'll be huge. And…
I think most people would agree her scripts are what made MLFTS and CLOY the phenomenons they were so the OP’s perspective was baffling to me. The writer doesn’t need to improve: she has proved herself to be a hit machine.
“Remarkable in the artistic sense” doesn’t make much sense to me. It’s really hard to make hugely successful mainstream fare these days. If people want to turn their nose up at it because it’s not “artistic” enough for them that’s none of my business.

Not sure where this idea of the script being bad is coming from. Multiple of her wildly successful scripts were nominated in the Baeksang category for screenplay and simply wouldn’t be as popular as they are if they didn’t work for audiences.
The list is from February and all the entries have been correct so far. You are listing Netflix originals. The list is simulcast tvN dramas on Netflix global. And as I said, all have been correct so far this year.
Perfectly normal schedule for terrestrial dramas. The currently airing drama in the slot, Law and the City, finished…
They didn’t have to rush filming. They started in January as planned, maybe couple of weeks after the initial plan at most. And they don’t wait until filming is over to start editing and do post-production. Dramas used to premiere while still filming (and even adjust the script based on audience reactions). This is nothing lol
Feels rushed and it looks like they are still filming
Perfectly normal schedule for terrestrial dramas. The currently airing drama in the slot, Law and the City, finished filming last month, with almost the exact same production window as this drama. I guess people are becoming used to OTT dramas taking forever to come out.
Looks like Ep 7 will set a new ratings record on tvN as the reported real-time rating was much higher in than usual. Shows that word of mouth is doing its thing, which is well deserved.
I'm kind of assuming, based on nothing but the summary, that this might have similar vibes to Your Name Engraved…
I hope so! There were some really great visuals in that, some even reminiscent of peak Wong Kar-wai in its use of colors. But I think this will be a bit more mature, probably.

But the world doesn't revolve around your personal preferences.
