GMMTV is wholly corporate. We can see this in how they milk the actors for all they are worth. From promotion…
Yeah it's pretty bad and GMM needs to rethink this. Gay couples aren't a cashcow concept and oversaturating the market won't end well. I much prefer them releasing mixed shows like the did before BL was a huge thing. That's said it's just weird how BL is aimed at het girls. I honestly wonder why girls are so obsessed with BL shows. You'd think they'd go for het girls to project onto where they get the hot guy.
Japanese actors don't do enough fanservice to quench their thirst, they wouldn't bother. At best this will attract…
I hope you're right, weird BL stans scare me. Whenever I read 'this would be better as BL' or the whole sex positions discourse lose 10 years of my life. I wonder why some fans can't see gay men as humans or treat them as equals. Sry the tweets and comments I read today below some BL drama just- i'm scared.
I watch Thai BL, but definitely not a stan (most of what I watch isn’t Thai), there are a lot of scary stans…
I used to watch BL too but stopped before it got really popular and looking back most of them aren't even good, overhyped and rated way too high here. Their selling point is basically, high school or college Boys making out. And when an actor is cast in a het romance fans freak out or rate it low compared to the mediocre BL drama they started in. It's genuinely scary and the whole market feels oversaturated with low quality BL (rip actresses lol) which is why I love this. This feels genuinely, is interesting, the acting is good and I just it's great.
Is it weird that i want this to stay a hidden gem? I feel so protective of it i don't want it to attract weird thai bl stans especially for the actors sake
Lovesick used to be my first BL and damn pls let it rest, the main couple had zero chemistry, the plot was meh and the acting was shit (come on let's admit it).
Imma be honest, I wish BL stans would start having standards or at least the same as K-drama watchers pretend to have and be more critical with what they consume. Maybe it's bc I outgrew Thai BL shows and 5hey lost their charm for me but looking back and after watching this there're so many shows with unjustified high ratings, the same messy or non existing plot, ships with no chemistry and shitty acting. They aren't very good LGBTQ+ representations either and cater mostly towards cis females for some reason (honestly why are they so obsessed with 'gay' relationships) to earn money. Thai broadcast stations need to step up their game, casting only Male leads and having BL couples won't solve their problems.
Edit: And I do feel bad for Thai female actresses .. at least have one be relevant in the story and give her a girlfriend ah no .. we aren't that 'progressive'.
Ahhh I remember the prequel, was one of my first Bl drama. Tbvh the plot sounds ridiculous and I wish BL drama would try to be more creative with a proper plot but I'm willing to give it a try.
Remember watching it 9 years ago and yes it wasn't perfect and it's not now but somehow it still warms my heart. Imma be honest I miss cold hearted male leads who turn soft for their girl.
