Ya they did not do a great job at her character development. Unfortunately I felt the same too, she was so weak…
Yesssss!! Yi Long death and BJ ‘s sacrifice felt like they put more time and thought into it than ZYZ. ZYZ felt like it was rushed and whatever. It definitely wasn’t whatever to me, it hurt me! I was so heartbroken for him. I just thought it be more impactful especially for wen Xiao, and Zhuo Yi Chen. It seems like ZYC was way more devastated when BJ’s died than ZYZ.
It’s okay ZYZ, We’ll cry for you, you’ll shed tears for you! 😢

So before I even found out what was happening behind sets, or even the dramas behind sets, I actually did feel like at times the 2nd ML felt more like the main ML than actually the ML. And I actually did write that on an another platform when I review the drama. Now that I kinda know what happened behind scenes, it all makes sense now actually.
And I also thought 2nd ML “killing” his best friend was too calm also, even after he stabbed him, didn’t get too much of a reaction out of him either. * sigh it just felt like that whole dying scene was so underplay. And this is ZYZ, he’s supposed to be someone best friend and another person lover.
Whatever intention that director had, well he failed, cuz Neo got to show us how amazing he was as ZYZ and we came to fall in with this character and feel for him.

She seem more devastated that her dad passed away than him. And I get what you’re saying about her giving up. I know he always wanted to die, I mean we knew from the beginning, but once he met her and developed close friendships, he started to have that will to live. Unfortunately in the end he still had to sacrifice himself for the greater good of the people. I guess I put myself in her shoe and even knowing thats his fate, I still Wouldn’t be okay with it. His life was too tragic. But I could be too dramatic thou.
After months I’m still upset at her script—She’s useless yet helpful in her own ways. 🤣But dang, WenXiao…
Ya they did not do a great job at her character development. Unfortunately I felt the same too, she was so weak even though she’s supposedly this powerful goddess. I understand that in the beginning she’s suppose to be weak cuz she’s a mortal, but once she got the token, I thought she’s suppose to be much more powerful but yet she’s still weak! The only good she did was when she repair the token in time to help ZYZ. Also her reaction to him dying wasn’t enough for me, she didn’t seem devastated enough, she was too calm. If that was me, I would have lost my mind.
