I guess I am just surprised that he didn't expect that? I mean, she ALWAYS talks about work. Whatever her reason for approaching him was, it definitely included her career. And 5 min before the fireworks, she literally said she wished for both a success in her digital magazine AND to enter into a sweet relationship while looking him in the eyes? I don't know why he would interpret her words as her not being as into him as he would've liked. They kissed, went on dates, she flirts with him every chance she gets, she hints at wanting to be in a relationship with him ... I, too, wouldn't have thought that her wish would spoil the mood. I think it was very in character for her. And I didn't like how he immediately withdrew. I mean even if he decided not to confess any more and still wait for her feelings to grow, since they were on a New Year's Eve date he still could've given her the flowers, still could've been sweet with her, still could've not shown her the cold shoulder on the horse ranch.

At the end, my girl doesn't know that he had already been in love with her the whole time. While he had 3 years to nourish his romantic feelings for her, she didn't even know him. No matter what, she can't catch up with him this fast when he plays hot and cold with her. I wonder how he wants to measure her feelings and when will it be satisfactory to him. I really hope that with the next episode, he finally confronts her about his suspicions and doesn't let her get away with some lame excuse again. Because someone needs to confront her about her feelings. Sometimes it feels like she doesn't even know that she likes him, and then other times it seems she is super sure that she does. I don't know if that's weak writing or if she's really supposed to be that clueless (which wouldn't make any sense with the way they build her up as the most attentive and smart journalist) I wonder if she even remembers that revenge thing, because I sure forgot about it.

Honestly, despite the lack of budget, this is so much fun. It's so intriguing, and it keeps me giggling the whole time.

I love slow burn, but usually it happens without any courting. Usually they just slowly develop their own feelings by themselves without ever voicing any kind of affection towards each other because they're scared. Here, they are basically already dating each other every day, and I am growing more and more impatient. I'm very interested though because I think the leads have nice chemistry and I love that they are slowly getting to know each other and slowly falling even more, compared to all the insta-love stories that we usually get. And I like seeing that they're both successful and have their independent ambitions (although I have to admit that I do not care for any of the financial stuff at all and skip them a lot of times if I deem them irrelevant). I've been fine with it going very slow, but they also need to justify setbacks, and currently I don't understand why they went three steps back after finally taking one step forward on new year's.

Anyway, I just mean that this outcome is still more favourable compared to the first life, however her character seems so rotten this time. Granted, we didn't see much of her but Qian also seems so surprised by Mu Yaos immoral decisions, as if she honestly expected better of her.

Seems like Mu Yao became corrupt, and her family isn't even dead this life, only exiled for a limited time.

starting week 2 eps, then only one ep a week

I said this won't touch the original, and I do kinda still stand by that, but the first ep was promising, and I really like that we're getting a complete different storyline, and I'm also in love with the comic-esque feeling. My only concern is that I may be falling victim to a for me a very rare case of 2nd lead syndrome.

My roommate and I are watching this together and I told her this would be the plotwise pretty early, and she didn't believe me. But I'm a seasoned Kdrama watcher, at this point there is rarely something that surprises me any more.
It's just sad that with the little queer representation given in TV dramas, they chose him as the murderer.
