lol I'm reading English subtitles for a Korean show about translation and the subs are acting like they are speaking English... but I wouldn't be needing the subs if they were in English. Why can't they just write [in Korean]???
People are arguing in the comment section over ML being a red flag or not because he is at times unsure and bad at communication. Meanwhile, we have the best friend's husband who continuously lies to her without any reason. They weren't even white lies because she gave him zero pressure. However, she was still considerate and supportive every time she caught him lying. First, he hides the start of his own business, then his resignation from his main job, lastly his frequent business meetings with a woman who is romantically interested in him. Whether he's cheating or not isn't even important anymore. His continuous lies (for no reason whatsoever) have completely discredited his character. If I were her, I wouldn't know how to trust him anymore. Even without the suspicion of infidelity, there would be no knowing if he's not lying about something else.
Having watched episodes 16 and 17, I have one observation to make and one (minor) correction to an earlier "thing…
I agree that ZX is not a red flag because to be one he'd have to do *something*.... he's so inactive, so passive, so stagnant that everything about him seems just frozen in time, that's also why he can't get over her. No development whatsoever.
It's truly a mystery to me what she even likes about Zhuang Xu. He's good-looking and is smart but lacks any kind of self-esteem and emotional intelligence. In their few conversations, he was only shown to be rude and dishonest. He acts as if he was betrayed and abandoned, but it was only his financial pride standing in his way. Even though, there is no need to feel so insecure about their different backgrounds because he is ambitious and competent, and his career is really only looking up.
His problem and weakness lie with his communication skills, he just keeps his mouth shut, and expects everyone to just know and understand what's going on with him. I don't even blame Rong too much, since everybody assumes they're together. Why wouldn't she also fall for the delusion when he never sets clear boundaries and just ignores her attempt to get closer to him? I know she should accept the subtle hints he dropped, but being childhood friends, it wouldn't be too much to ask of him to let her down gently, and give her the opportunity to move on by rejecting her. Without that, she'll just keep her hopes up. Except, maybe he wants to keep her warm for when he's ready to settle down and there is no one better around.
And just like he won't reject Rong, he also avoids answering Xi Guang's feelings.
At this point, just like I believe Xi Guang only likes him for his looks and her feelings are stubborn since it was her first real crush, I also believe Zhuang Xu only likes her because having a rich girl like him gives him an ego boost.
I think I'm alone with my (mild) dislike for both actors, but I will give this an honest try when it airs. I love rom-coms, so maybe this will surprise me, especially since I feel like rom-coms are becoming better again - internationally.
Tell me you haven't watched Mad For Each Other nor Come Back Mister, without telling me you haven't watched them....If…
I watched like two or three episodes of Mad for Each Other and thought it was a terrible representation of mental health, found her and her acting partner both equally unfitting, so maybe it was more of a script thing, but anything else I saw of her I just didn't like. I don't understand why my "radar for acting" and taste is accused, just because I don't like someone's acting. I didn't even say she was bad, I just said I'm not a fan.
Though I love the drama, I personally don't have much hope for this. I am not a fan of Oh Yeon Seo's acting (besides Jang Bori) and Choi Jin Hyuk doesn't really fit the image of the ML. I will give it a try though when it airs, and I'm very much open to be surprised.
I don't think I've ever felt so much sympathy for a ML in a romantic drama. This man is yearning so much, he has trouble sleeping and is starting to hate himself. Someone, please make his suffering stop.
You know, I just watched ep 1, and I came here for an explanation as to why ep 2 showed me "previously seen on" scenes that definitely did not happen, but after ready some comments I guess I'll just save my time haha
I have to disagree, I think the leads also actually are very realistic, interactions, and behaviours. They both…
Yeah, and I think she should've been perfect in coordination and memory because of all the sword dances she surely learned as the crown prince, but maybe just very still in the hips. But yeah, maybe the rest of her "girly" behaviour is learned from the brothel.

Them being unrealistic wasn't really a critique, but I still don't think they are. Someone with JBZ's history would probably suffer much more from PTSD, be more angry and destructive, and not only be distrustful but still very empathetic. And someone like MY who had to pretend her whole life to be male would probably have some identity issues, and surely wouldn't really know how to behave "girly". Also, given her personality, her relationship with her mother, and her status as crown prince, I would expect her to be much more of a people pleaser, less mischievous and bubbly, but more aloof and strategic. But like I said, it's not really a critique. It's a light-hearted drama, and I know when to expect realism in character arcs and when not.

SML was also just the worst, and I cannot believe that he and SFL are still ambiguous - a few years later. smh

Not really bad, not really good. Nothing new.
"I just love the taste of nothing"
