she wants him to not risk his life for her by “protecting her”. she no longer wants to be a burden to him. she want him to choose his self and a life that he can live without being in danger. so what she wants is for him to leave that city and that life behind because he can never escape. even if she didn’t come back he will be in danger bc although he was “laying low” he was always under zhang boss thumb. for him he can’t sit and watch her be beaten ofc but she would rather that than for him always stepping in making it harder to leave that life. she’s investigating on official business on the other hand he works as a civilian but he’s still a “thug”. so for him the more he gets involve .. the harder it will be for him to leave. also, she wants him to communicate with her on how bad he’s gotten in trouble. she knows it’s bad and won’t push further since he won’t speak which is why she don’t want him involved with those people anymore.

a lot of yall are watching the show for straight romance instead of the plot and understanding it. “she’s putting him in danger” “he keeps having to protect her” the girl is doing her job. she didn’t get that high position at work for nothing. yall want her to quit the high paying job she worked hard for? yall want her to stop pushing him but if she don’t he will stay exactly where he’s at foreverr. her reason for coming back is to get him out of there and SHE WILL.

“he needs to communicate with her” yes he does it would make stuff simpler but he is suffering from a few mental illnesses because of what he went through. although, it would be best to just talk ab it but that would make the drama shorter .. wouldn’t it? heh 😼 all the “she needs to set boundaries with sml/making him jealous” oh pls so the jealousy was ok when it started with tuli but now it’s too far now? yall have to understand something with them. this is no regular couple that bicker. with them it’s like “if you go low then i will take it to hell” i just think yall are still tainted by that misconception of it being a good girl x bad boy trope that yall wanted to see so bad. now that the fl is a force to be reckon with yall are angry and pitying the ml when he doesn’t need it. i think yall are forgetting the fact he was a thug but now he’s a “normal civilian” laying low .. he has his reasons.

there was misconception that this is a good girl x bad boy trope when it’s not. please do not let miao jing cute face fool you cause she’s a baddie. there have been great changes in the characters .. especially the ml. his character was toned down 80% and in the novel he was a major red flag. fl was a yellow flag, very cold & manipulative sometimes. they both grew up harsh so it was expected.

as we can see ml still has that bad boy aura and in the beginning fl was giving good girl vibes when she was a CHILD. she is a full adult now that was sent away with no explanation, in a harsh way. she lived 6 years on her own so it’s not a surprise she has became cold. miao jing is like a little fireball but she has a kind heart.

she knows how to get under his skin and trustttt he’s where he want to be like he’s a big man he can handle his self.

this drama has the same director as l&p and the director used his same team so a few more crew members as well. people are just comparing this drama to it because of that similarity. it will be the same style ofc because it’s the same director but the drama is very diff from l&p. I won’t speak about the drama from back then because it’s not worth mentioning and I don’t want this to be a place where it’s brought back up with false rumors. i just want people to know this has nothing to do with l&p but with parasocial fans that think they know everything as if they communicate 1 on 1 with their fav. so just ignore them because they like to camp out here everytime starting drama and rage baiting.

so far no dramas. he has 2 unreleased movies that should air this year or next year but he has yet to film a drama. it’s not a bad thing tho he needs some rest :) filming constantly is tiring.
