90% of the cast is male lmao, never seen so many men in one cast
many older historical dramas were like 99% male lol three kingdom, yongzheng dynasty, ming dynasty 1566 - except for one famous one; dream of red chambers
this drama surprised me ngl - the cases are actually all quite compelling and well written, esp in the way it depicts womens rights and the plight of women during the republican era.
while yes it would have been nice to show more of the relationship between the female leads, i still think it's worth watching at least for the first case (one that is quite bold with its queerness).
that's why i find it hilarious when americans act like the centre of the universe when it is still a young nation…
Oh totally, I was just thinking about him when I wrote my comment lol. One thing about China is they have been here for thousands of years and will stand strong, america can try to bully its way to stay at the top but the world is changing.. the mask is falling and no one is buying their BS anymore. You know I was just thinking too how Americans should actually give this drama a shot and considering all the chaos that's going on there rn politically
Haha, this is one of the best examples of MyDL being a bit of a bubble - this is #5 on Douban rn. This is only…
girl mydramalist is never reliable for high quality cdrama ratings, i always refer to douban to see what chinese fans actually find quality shows (which is almost never idol dramas lol)
this drama and she and her girls are one of the highest ratest cdramas in the past 5 years and for good reason. unfortch most cdrama intl fans won't give either one a chance bc they only like fluffy romcoms or CGI'd xianxia lol...
It’s probably just me…don’t get me wrong, I do love the CP development between Qian Hong Chu and Sun Tai…
i really do like zhou yutong but i get what you mean, she's better in modern romance dramas tbh. she looks like someone who travelled back in time from modern to a historical era lol. idk i feel like she was kinda miscast and would have loved seeing nini, zhao liying etc instead here
Pretty incredible when you think a nation like the US has been here 250 years and in China, that span of time…
that's why i find it hilarious when americans act like the centre of the universe when it is still a young nation whos only been around for 250 years...like come on, china has been here for thousands, THOUSANDS of years and it's the world's longest continuous civilization for a reason. and one dynasty alone is longer than US's existence. the scope and richness of china's history is just breathtaking as you said tbh
i wanted to read a bit of chinese history of this era but I'm having a headache. why is there so many Taizong…
theres alot of videos on rednote/xiaohongshu explaining the backstory of this chaotic period and dw even chinese viewers were confused in the beginning. maybe it might be helpful to watch videos on youtube explaining this era and the end of this Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms period; WuYue Kingdom; and Qian Chu who Bai Yu's character is based off of (also if you check twitter there's some translations too there)
it's been a hot minute to see finally a proper historical cdrama that is so well thought out and well produced from all fronts - lots of big name actors here! i read that they included classical chinese in the script as well, which ofc meant the actors had really put in the work for their delivery and acting. interested to see what the final douban score will be
I wish they didn't have bisexuals mixed with straight / gay ppl cuz the show just becomes messy. Like kong realistically…
agreed, it would have been much more simple and less annoying if everyone on the show was LGBTQ. im sorry but what the hale is the point of inviting hets on the show, they could go on singles inferno or something. the producers just making things annoyingly messy for no reason
