Lol did I lie? 😭 He's crazy and that's probably why he's locked in that prison.

The kdrama tomorrow with Rowoon. The comfort women storyline in particular, that episode broke my heart.

I don’t know how Se Hyeok is still employed! I guess he must be really great at his job?
Right I was hoping Do Guk would’ve fired him right then and there. I find his character unnecessary especially because he is Yoo Ra’s lap dog

I agree I wanted Jang Hyun to slap him and do more than tell him to watch his mouth. I think Ryang Eum’s unrequited love has transcended obsession… he’s way too possessive and does seem on the same level or even worse than the psycho princess herself.

I think Jang Hyun definitely knows or has a hunch that Ryang Eum has feelings for him. I think he was being kind to him by not “outing” him or making him feel uncomfortable. He addressed the issue perfectly by telling him anyone who gets in between him and Gil Chae will have to die.

I do agree that his acting is pretty good I mean he made me hate his character so much. Idk if I would want to see him in another drama rn just because he pissed me off so much 😂

I can't relate I have no kind words for Ryang Eum. He is such a sad and mean spirited individual. Only punches and kicks for him! Gil Chae did not deserve any of those harsh words. Plus the fact that she was willing to hear him out and try and see his perspective every single time just shows she is a much better person than he will ever be.

Maybe she was, maybe she wasn't. We don't know and the writers will never say it, neither will Gil Chae. She thinks…
Yeah I agree with you. I especially felt for Gil Chae when she was talking to the lady in the palace and trying to sell her knives. She said no matter what she says people won't believe her version of events anyways. They will always look at her like she is tainted... even if she was only "touched" as you said.

I believe the foreign intruder tried to have his way with her (removing her clothing etc.) but she fought like hell and managed to injure him. Maybe I am delusional or I just am trying to stay positive and I don’t want to believe whatever transpired got to the worst extreme because if that were true, I think she would have been pregnant with a foreign intruders child by now especially in those conditions and without access to a physician or remedies.

I do think there were some tells / hints especially when I think back to that moment in the slave market when we found out she bit the barbarian's ear off and she was thrown to the grown... holding on for dear life. The shock on her face when she heard her husband came looking for her but abandoned her after hearing she was sold (I think this especially is when she started feeling unclean and unworthy of being saved) How she couldn't stop crying and thought she was imagining Jang Hyun because she was helpless and thought that next person she's sold to that it might really be the end for her.

She just seemed so dejected and like she was ready to die. The way she flinched when Jang Hyun touched her shoulder and screamed out his name as they were separated again. How she rejected Jang Hyun's help and refused to even be called "madam" by Gu Jam and shooed him away. I think back to how when Jang Hyun recovered and was trying to buy her and the slave market owner kept saying she was "expensive" and refused to sell her and that if he were to sell her the damages she caused was about 300 nyang. Even the scene when Jang Hyun visits her in the slave market room and she assumes he bought her up for the night and she tells him he's no different to the rest. When her eyes pooled with tears and she tried to remain emotionless and asked him what she can do for him – if she may pour him a drink, sing and dance or if it is something else he is after (This part for me felt a little too real and like she was reliving the experience she had prior) When she finally tells him not to do anything for her because she cannot repay his kindness. When he hugged her in the forest and then tried to kiss her when they were alone before they were interrupted… I kept on saying in other comments that she looked like she might shatter/break from his touch. We can only speculate but it’s obvious she has been through hell and back!

The entire society and her family has broken her down to the point where she feels unclean / unworthy much like Young Rang, Eum Ae, Jong Jong and all the other women captives who had similar experiences but managed to return home in one piece. But as Gil Chae said it was not her fault or any of their faults. They are victims of circumstance. My heart honestly breaks for her though because she has persevered and endured so much. She is now the shell of the girl she used to be... her eyes used to sparkle with hope and promise of meeting her future husband... now they shine with her tears from the trauma of the war 💔

It is so painful to live in a world where you are constantly ridiculed and feel alone and unworthy of being loved because of something that was entirely out of your control. It's just so fucking sad and hard to even put into words.

I always thought that she wasn’t touch by anyone and that she lied to her husband since she fall for JH and…
Maybe she was, maybe she wasn't. We don't know and the writers will never say it, neither will Gil Chae. She thinks lowly of herself because of that damn society... even having a foreign intruder look at you meant you were "soiled/tainted."

(This is just my opinion)

It was her last attempt to try and push him away again because she feels unworthy of loving him. Flashback to that episode when they were talking in the forest and princess was watching. Both of them have had this issue where they feel like they're not good enough for each other / worthy of the other's love. Plus now that she is back in Joseon everyone treats her like literal shit and all they can bring up is how she has no shame coming back here / that she should have killed herself / that she's tainted etc. I think before Jang Hyun interrupted her she was going to confess and tell him "But in Simyang I gave you my heart." (something along those lines like what she told Won Moo) But then after Jang Hyun kept boosting her up (seemingly describing her in this great light) and saying she was all he needed she probably thought back to everything she endured (how she was considered tainted now) and went back to thinking she does not deserve him.

I mean, her own sister kept on questioning her, Won Moo left her for dead and when she returned he kept on asking her whether she was tainted or not and her own father tried to kill her. She also doesn't want Jang Hyun to stay for her (a "tainted" woman and a divorcee) knowing he has a princess waiting for him in Simyang. Honestly that's probably why she tried so hard to show him a brave face and prove that she was living a good life even though she isn't. She does not want to hold him back from living his life, she doesn't want to be a burden. And can you blame her? Considering how he pushed her away in Simyang and her knowing that she'll never be able to repay his kindness for saving her life, she thinks he's better off without her. Clearly her mental state is not the best and she feels inadequate in a society that no longer accepts her.

All of this mixed in with all the seeds of doubt planted by Ryang Eum (when he said she does not deserve to be loved by Jang Hyun) and everything she did experience while fighting for her life after being kidnapped... she's practically breaking repeatedly on the inside. In my opinion, Gil Chae wanted to know if Jang Hyun would see her like trash like everyone else... which is why I think it took so much out of her to ask him if he'd look at her the same if she was indeed taken advantage of by the foreign intruders. But we (the viewers) know Jang Hyun would never look down on a woman no matter what they went through.

Remember when he told Young Rang "Will you say you've been tainted if a dog bites you?" "Just because you got hit by a crazy person, will you say the spot you got hit is dirty?" "A man in the right mind will never say you've been tainted for such a reason."

We know all this but Gil Chae doesn't and I can imagine even bringing it up worried and saddened her... she probably expected the worst reaction because of what she's used to. You can see a mixture of emotions flash across her face as he tells her "Then I must give you a hug for it must've been painful." As Jang Hyun embraces her in here eyes we see pain, sadness, confusion but also there is this sense of relief and regret that washes over her – probably because she realizes she has a good man on her side and questioning why she didn't realize it sooner / why she didn't run away and marry him instead etc. I feel like all her emotions she was holding in just rushed to the surface and all she could do was cry and let it out. She just wanted to be held / consoled and told that everything would be ok.

I especially loved when he was like "It's all over now. Do not worry about a thing from now on. From now on, I will stay by your side. Even if you push me away, I will stay right here. Even if you get sick of me, I will stay by your side." "The moment I first saw you, I just knew, that I had never once wanted someone else, other than you." Then him asking for permission to hold her and seemingly kissing away all her pain and worries. HE IS SUCH A GOOD MAN! I cannot stress how tender, soft and perfect that moment between them was. All Gil Chae wanted was to be listened to, cared for, comforted and understood and Jang Hyun did all that.

Interpret it however you like but tainted or not Jang Hyun has Gil Chae's back and still loves her and accepts her for who she is. Again more and more Jang Hyun is showing me exactly how a man should be. Gil Chae is still a flower in his eyes despite everything she has been through.

That is the real and only message from this episode in the drama. It doesn't matter if Gil Chae was r worded / sexually assaulted (again, it was never explicitly stated / shown what exactly happened) or not.

As someone said before, I think the writers left it vague and up to the viewers interpretation for a reason. The translation doesn't outright say what "taken advantage of" means because back then even if the intruder didn't actually r word her, but lets say for example if he ripped her clothes, exposed her and started to assault her, to everyone else and her family she would still be considered "soiled/tainted" because only her husband is allowed to see her that way or touch her.

I think we should just accept that we will never know the details, and just move on. It doesn't matter AT ALL. What matters is that she survived, she did not give up and now she has Jang Hyun beside her to protect her.

(This topic is pretty sensitive and taboo. It's uncomfortable for some people to talk about about so please be kind)

WOW, WOW, WOW!!!I can only say that I am truly exhausted again, emotionally and mentally. This is too much. Lord…
Loved this. Agree with everything but Gilchae didn't outright say the intruders “got” her... it is my understanding she was sort trying to seehow he would react and what he would say to her even IF the intruders got her (especially because he was boosting her up so much and saying he wants her) Just like how she knew Won Moo would never accept her back if he knew she was soiled/tainted and so she never gave him the satisfaction of an answer. I think she wanted to see if Janghyun would look at her differently (still think so highly of her) and still want her even if the "the intruders took advantage of her." Her tears were a mixture of emotions... I think most of all relief knowing she gave her heart to the right man and that she was safe in his arms. Jang Hyun is a real and kind man who would not dare blame a lady for something that wasn’t in her control.

I believe Gilchae came close many times especially with the second guy who bought her and who's ear she ripped – but she fought for her life and evaded them somehow. I'm not saying she was not assaulted / humiliated (her words) in some way but we will never know the “extent” and I believe it's left up to interpretation. Either way, our queen is a fighter and survivor to the end. The way she pretended to be happy and like she was living her best life just for him is the same way how no matter what happened she endured for him. I think it would have been a knife to the gut if he turned out to be exactly like the officer. But he's proven time and time again that he’s different 😭 That man loves her down and he doesn't care about her past.

She doesn't look like her... maybe only in the eyes (the way they sparkle) and her current hairstyle. To me she's prettier (has softer features whereas HS is more bold/striking) Imo Yoo Min is also more expressive and passionate when she acts – she nails this role.

We'll know soon enough 😭 Her and Jang Hyun omgggg... I expect their confession scene will be something else. Not that Jang Hyun would care if she's pure or not but he already told her that his body, mind and soul were his... so it's her turn to share her feelings especially since they keep doing the parallels.

She probably did, but they definitely did not do it enough for her to get pregnant re: incorrect timing. Over…
Lmao I will stay delusional but I don't think she ever slept with him... also that's why she was trying so hard to protect herself when she was taken as a captive. Like obviously she would fight for her life and chastity in any case but she did not once give up and allow any of those men she was sold to to touch her. I think after everything Jang Hyun and her shared, she basically pledged herself to him (even though she did not outright say it) as he did to her (their almost wedding night when they ran away together)

I feel like Won Moo probably wondered what he was rescuing / saving Gil Chae for if she had never even gave herself to him and probably never would. My guess is that the fact that she was "soiled" made her unappealing to him and "unworthy of being saved."

And in this episode she specifically told Won Moo heart has always belonged to Jang Hyun. He always knew it but to hear her admit it I feel like that bruised his ego and finally cut the tie on their "sham marriage". Gil Chae really set him straight lol!!!

As for the scene you're describing where he was suggesting he come home early and she declined hanging out with him I think he was waiting out his time to get busy with Gil Chae / respecting her wishes to not have sex but it did not work. I feel like they were married in name and nothing else and he was probably unsatisfied in the marriage because marriage to him is just having someone to warm his bed at nights. I just can't see why he's so obsessed with her purity and it just rings alarm bells in my head that he knew she was pure before she got kidnapped because they had never had sex.

Also the fact that his new concubine got pregnant in just a matter of months it just shows me Gil Chae did not do a single thing with him because she would have fallen pregnant in those two years. I keep remembering their wedding night where she did not allow him to undress her and just sat outside watching the moon. I think she probably made up excuses that she was not in the mood, had to tend to her father or busied herself with making the knives/cutlery so she could avoid him at all costs. I don't think she's infertile or you probably would have heard that nasty officer make a comment about it too.

I believe Gil Chae's actions and thoughts have always shown that she put Jang Hyun before herself and was always trying to do what she "believed" was best for him. In episode 15 she told him "she could not dare have him" and in that same breath he asked her why she believed he could live without her, implying he simply could not and still can't. And in episode 16 it's clear she doesn't want to leave his side but she knows he's probably pushing her way for a reason and she herself needs to find closure on that sham marriage before she can move forward with him.

It's unfortunate that Jang Hyun and Gil Chae both struggle with their emotions and feelings. They both believe they are unworthy of love or each other, which breaks my heart. They both thought that letting each other go was the best thing they could do for each other's sake / happiness, but as the show progresses, you can see that they both regret it (Gil Chae letting him go and Jang Hyun respecting her wishes / not fighting for her and hoping she was living the life she always dreamed about).

Again, maybe I'm delusional but I believe Gil Chae has been waiting for Jang Hyun, like always. The moon is a direct reflection of their oath/promise and love. I think her always looking up at the moon (as he does too) and reminding herself of everything it took for them to find their way back to each other just solidifies that even more. They are truly mirror images of each other and soulmates in my opinion.
On My Dearest Part 2 Oct 28, 2023
I still don't believe Gil Chae consummated her marriage with that ugly ass officer. If she did she would have gotten pregnant in those 2 years. It also makes sense why Won Moo is so obsessed with if she remained pure or not. I think the fact that all the men in the village are concerned about Gil Chae's chastity and whether she was taken advantage by the foreign intruders says so much about them!!! They're so misogynistic and disgusting that it upsets me Gil Chae has to be harassed and ridiculed like that! Our queen deserves so much better! It's also crazy how the father has been confused all this time yet has regained all the strength and common sense (magically) to strangle her. This cannot be real

Lee Joon Gi is such an amazing and charismatic actor. But pairing him off with a female lead who is not able to…
Idk what you're talking about but Joon Gi and IU in Moon Lovers were phenomenal, that drama is so good it's become a kdrama classic. You're just too much of a hater to see that. Just say that you prefer Flower of Evil to all his other dramas and go. It's obvious your bias is toward Joon Gi simply because you don't think any other FL is good enough for him. The directors literallly tell the actresses how they want a certain scene to be portrayed... most historicals won't depict the passionate romance you're obviously looking for.

"that Princess is nice" words I thought I'd never see and highly disagree with. She's most definitely not nice.…
I figured you were being sarcastic or at least I hoped you were lmao!

Well she did have her ladies maid whip Gilchae and bruise her fair skin so I guess she feels proud of that. She's just jealous because she can't understand why Janghyun likes her so much even though Gilchae is literally more beautiful than her even in plain/dull "servant clothing" If Gilchae were truly plain / ordinary she wouldn't have commented on her appearance or tried to belittle her with it. Only thing psycho princess has going for is her status and wealth, not much else.

Imo the actress (Lee Chung Ah) tries to be menacing but to me she's doing more telling than showing us that she's actually this "badass" princess plus she lets her ladies maids do most of her dirty work for her. Lol she just seems mean spirited and not that threatening at all 😭

And noooo I'm gonna stay delusional for Janghyun and Gilchae. I'm trying to think positive thought bc they deserve to be happy for at least one episode while he recovers. After that though, I'm hoping and praying they can both escape and get out of Simyang alive 😭 I need their happy ending

Miss girl is a psychotic bitch and is just watching, waiting and studying her enemies (Gilchae and Janghyun) until she until she finally attacks them when they are least expecting it. Pyscho princess will not let them go or go down without a fight, she just knows (now) that she will never be able to win Janghyun if she hurts Gilchae so she must rethink her strategy. If you think that was the last of her you might wanna reconsider lmaooo 😭 She's too "ruthless" to turn over a new leaf and just let them go freely.

Starting to wonder if Gilchae consummated her marriage with her husband because why is he acting like that?! You mean to tell me he just gave up after hearing she got sold and taken away? I don't get him... It seemed to me like on her wedding night she just sat outside and watched the moon (thinking about LJH) Also I'm remembering the scene where he kept telling her he was making money and he kept suggesting he come home to her like he was implying they do something else (if yk what i mean) and she kept on shutting it down like being rich is good or wtv and she basically laughed in his face.
Either way the officer is a terrible husband, he should really stop referring to himself like that. Everyone else is going out of their way to save her and he's just at home comfortably sitting on his ass and pretending like he's doin something when he's not doin shit.
