She did not win the popularity award at the Baeksang awards but I just watched her in "My Mister" and she definitely held her own against a much older and experienced ML (who just appeared in the blockbuster "Parasite"! ) She showed so much range and highlighted the terrible life and cards Ji Ahn had been dealt. I was also really impressed by her use of Korean sign language (all sign language is challenging for those that don't use it normally). The whole cast on this show was outstanding!
Just found out there will be a second season. It's so sad when good shows never have a chance to continue their story. So excited! Yoo Yeon Seok is one of my very favorite actors.
Baidu Baike (Chinese online encyclopedia) has an episode by episode summary but they are a bit long. Google translate sometimes makes them difficult to understand. Just choose English as a language when the page comes up.
If you have not seen this movie try to see it before the Oscar's. It deserves every bit of the hype. The writing, production, and direction were excellent.
I love your review. Not having read the novel first (I am now) I saw more of the philosophical, theological, and spiritual points that each character had to confront. They were given plenty of time to be examined and explored without having to rush in a quicker format. I had a really hard time starting it but once I understood more of the story I could not stop. I was so happy to follow along for the rest of the ride.
I loved seeing Yoo Yeon Seok in a light /comedic role after seeing him originally in Mr. Sunshine (sad/tragic role). I enjoyed the movie as it peeled the layers of the onion from his character to reveal someone much sweeter and deeper. The story allowed both of them to explore more about their thoughts on relationships and come about to embrace something different.
Hopefully this will also help Viki market the value your web site brings to these productions to help license and bring more wanted content! I work with analytics and statistics for a living and would love to review any beta data, statistics, or graphs for clarity and simplicity for the end user. Great addition!
I think the first few episodes started off super funny and interesting but I gradually lost interest as they started…
I agree with you. I liked the overall comedic and quirky vibe with the random modern references (how the one girl invented savory skewers/hot pot) but I did start to hate the pace after it was more about the girls and little about the emperor. Once that storyline finally picked up again and Meng decided it was not so bad to be close to him I was able to start enjoying it again.
Rewatching this on netflix. 2/3 of this drama is a gem. Great story line, great actors plus mu chenghe’s dimples!
Just rewatched and luckily found the three additional specials to help explain things. Had to skip most of the slow/non-nonsensical/negative storylines on the original . I found that after seeing it the first time, like you listed, about a third was not that important to see again. The rest was awesome!
Haha right?! And it felt like they took fifteen thousand years to kiss then like BAM!! I got whiplash (^&^)Love…
Yeah that was probably one of the hottest scenes and we technically saw nothing! I think part of the issue is that both of them had never, yet, really had a mature, adult relationship, and Mu had put on the brakes for her. As soon as she clearly demonstrated she was ready, willing, and wanting to go there he was ready. The look on his face, though, was PRICELESS!
Just found them by chance with English subtitles (though not perfectly) on the iQIYI app after reading the Netflix series. The only issue is that they are currently only available if you are VIP. I am watching them and will list them in the preferred order.
