I don't like the actors they chose for the male lead after Park Jin Young. There's absolutely no way that they could pass for the same person throughout this story of the male lead recalling his one and only true first love. Maybe if all the actors had some sort of mannerism or similar personality trait that tied them all together, but they all felt so incohesive trying to portray this one character throughout his life. Wasn't the least bit convincing and always felt jarring.
What's more embarrassing still, Jang Ki Yong plays a young idol actor that the male lead serves his military enlistment time with. It was okay when the male lead was played by Baek Sung Hyun , but 10 years later Jang Ki Yong's character is trying to get back into acting and seeing him this time side by side with Joo Jin Mo only emphasised how incredibly old Joo Jin Mo looks, meanwhile Jang Ki Yong's character looks the same because it'd be too hard for audiences to realize who this person was supposed to be if they didn't have the same actor playing the role. Such a bizarre scene and didn't work at all in this story all about the passage of time.
Joo Jin Mo was a big miscast in my opinion, I can't see him being this huge heart throb actor, sorry. Maybe that comes down to personal preference though?
im not saying you're wrong but you know you could just go fanfic the boyfriend you think kang tae wan deserves.…
Min Soo's character is just as underdeveloped though, plus he seems hetero. All the actual gay characters are such afterthoughts in this plot. I don't really have a problem with Jin Woo ending up with Tae Wan. I kind of wish that we'd already seen some evidence that he's already starting to be successful as a model on his own though. It's just the fact their relationship will have a large difference in power level dynamics that poses as problematic for me. Although, Tae Wan's a sweetheart so I don't even really have to worry about that at all. The age gap I don't mind either. I just hope Tae Wan starts liking Jin Woo by the next episode. It'd be better in my mind if he starts to like Jin Woo more than Jin Sung before he finds out about Jin Sung's lie. That way Jin Woo won't just seem like his second choice. Also, that way I don't have to watch Tae Wan be heartbroken over Jin Sung. Was this drama always going to be 12 episodes long or did it get cut down because of the poor ratings? anyone know? not that more episodes could save it...
This is the last episode for me, I really liked the leads at first but as the episodes go by I find them increasingly…
I agree with everything you said. They really fill up show time with antagonistic office politics and neglect letting us get to know the main characters better. Even the main leads I feel like I don't really know much about them, which is a strange feeling for me.
awww his younger brother being stunned by Tae Wan when he walked in, haha love it. I wish that scene went on for longer, I really wanted to know what they'd talk about and how they'd all act around each other.
im highly against fetishizing homosexuality so you guys who jumped into this kdrama knowing its not ~~~~~~~~bl…
I agree, in the context of what's happened over the course of the drama I don't think anyone actually ships them together anymore at this point. That ship got wrecked very early on, but in the beginning of a drama you never really know what might be revealed about a character, he could've been lying to himself about his own sexuality and the cooking show could've served as a much needed tool for him to come out. Obviously, this isn't what happened at all... Can you recommend some dramas/movies where they do a gay romance story justice? I'd appreciate it.
The love story between the scriptwriter and the assistant director is more entertaining than the main leads. I…
Exactly. What's even the point of including a love triangle into this plot if you aren't having the ML's feelings waver at all? I was holding out hope but it feels like this drama will most likely end in the worst and most predictable way ever. The kind of outcome you expect when you hear the premise of the story. Also, why would the FL even want to date him after learning about his lies? even if he did it for her, it changes everything. If I was her I'd be so uncomfortable with the fact that he had constantly lied to me, I couldn't even see myself staying friends with him. Let alone all of the lies he had told his brother. Realistically I can't even see them getting a happy ending and they really shouldn't in my opinion.
Yes!! Where's Choi Han Gyul?! I completely agree, this drama would be so much better with that twist. I'm enjoying…
omg right?? like I keep coming back to this show because it's pulled me in and seriously has some great moments. I'm absolutely dreading the ending though! I don't know how they'll go about resolving things. The only possible way I can think of is if his lie became true and he started to develop feelings for Tae Wan. Even though it feels a little late for that I'd rather that than any other alternative. You can't show me Tae Wan pining all the time and then not deliver on it, I simply refuse! At this point a tacked on romance between Tae Wan and his bro is too late in the game!
I'm just waiting for the shit to hit the fan at this point, I swear this show gives me such anxiety thinking about it. Couldn't he see that continuing to participate in this show will financially and socially ruin him? He's going to be in such breach of contract, not to mention being outed publicly as a liar, offending and possibly losing his relationship with his brother and everyone that cares for him. His character just comes across as so exploitative, maybe if we got flashback scenes where he was defending his brother from harassment and bullying but nope. I went back to watch scenes with the brother to get a better idea about his character because he barely gets any screen time whatsoever, and when the ML is fishing for info from him on how he knew he was special, the bro was like, 'are you going to nag me again?' They just don't seem as close as I would've liked them to be. He cooked dinner for him once and that was like the only nice thing he did for him. I felt so bad for his bro having to stay in their place alone after the break-in downstairs. Shouldn't the ML be concerned that some crazy protester got his address somehow and wants to harm him or the director and that's why her place got broken into? Nothing against the FL, I just find her character boring is all. I don't know anything about her character that would make me care about her. Just because her work life is tough isn't enough. Her show concept was deeply flawed and based on prejudice to begin with. She should've actually tried to redevelop the show concept after Tae Wan's criticisms of it. She has no personal connections to the lgbtq community that would make her want to support her endeavor of making this specific show concept. It just felt like she was putting an oddity on display to be controversial as a draw for people to watch her show even though she intended it to be inclusive. Also, can I just say, I can't believe they introduced another hetero loveline into this instead of giving us more background info on main characters and developing the relationships between them. Tae Wan and the ML have so little actual screen time exploring and getting to know their characters, and his brother even less so. I still think that it would've been a more valuable experience to watch a drama that centered around a main character's coming out. Initially I was rooting for both males to get together somehow, but honestly the ML doesn't deserve Tae Wan at this point. Tae Wan is so considerate of others and never wants to hurt anyone so he doesn't even get involved in any arranged marriages for his parents sake. It makes me so sad for him, when you consider he's too famous to even visit a gay bar or any place where he could potentially meet someone. It would've been nice to see a Coffee Prince situation play out where the ML realizes he's attracted to and falling in love with a person despite what sex they are. I think it's interesting that people think gay romance is fetishizing. Shouldn't you consider that this might be your own biased opinion speaking and that other stories deserve to be told? At the end of the day, it's just a drama, but the messages it's sending are so deeply problematic.
I really think her mom wasn't just attempting to abort her brother but actually to kill her, her daughter and her brother all at the same time. Otherwise why bring her first daughter along? Also, possibly she left Eun Hee home because she's her mom's favorite? idk just trying to read between the lines.
