hey guys! i finished stitching together the "na na na" bgm. i'm by no means a professional, i just like messing around with audio for fun so i apologize if the end result is not the best!
Yes omg and thank you in advance! If it's also possible, are you willing to try getting Li Lun's instrumental…
I can try! Just so I know what to look for, is it the BGM that plays whenever Li Lun is about to do something bad? ex: around the 20 min mark in ep 4 (https://youtu.be/yYS02_ys-Yw?si=BoRaa2xiJlZDnrSi)
Who likes the "na na na" BGM that they never released? 🥲 I'm almost done stitching together a clean audio of it! Once I finish, I'll upload it to youtube and share it here ^^
In episode 34, at the 10th minute, there's a part where someone is humming a song. Unfortunately I couldn't find…
Unfortunately I don't think they ever released or will ever release it ☹️ However, as I was watching FOF, I made a list of all the timestamps when they played that BGM. You can use this to listen whenever you want like I do 😆 (Ignore the notes at the end, that's just for when I have time to stitch together an unofficial full version of it. If anyone is also considering doing that, feel free to use this list to help you!)

Welp... looks like they aren't gonna release a part two for the BGM soundtrack :( Good thing I took notes whenever my favorite BGM played, the 3 different versions of《春风不问》(Spring Breeze Does Not Ask).
Just commenting for anyone interested in listening to it. Maybe when I have time, I'll try to stitch together a full version of each...
Really love him in Fangs of Fortune. Zhao Yuan Zhou / Zhu Yan is my second favorite demon in Chinese dramas, just below Xiang Liu 😆 I hope that Neo gains more popularity and opportunities in the future
Ep 30 WX: “No one can protect everyone. Great Demon is so strong. He needs us sometimes.” PSJ: “He wouldn’t need me.” WX: “But I need you.”
Ep 31 WX: “If I die, there will be another Baize Goddess. But Xiao Jiu… There’s only one Xiao Jiu in the world.” BJ: “But in this world, there’s also only one Wen Xiao.”
Ying Lei? Is that you cutting onions up in the sky? I can't take this pain anymore 💔
People who read the novel, can you tell me what was different from the show?
There are a LOT of things that were changed, especially in S2. S1 followed the novel fairly closely. Here's the important ones that I can list right now. Someone can correct me if I’m wrong or add on. Sorry in advance that it’s long and there’s a lot of Xiang Liu in here. I may or may not be biased lol, I’m just really salty and disappointed about the changes and this is not even all of it 😭 You should read the novel when you have the chance; it’s better and more intriguing than the drama!
Major changes in the overall drama:
- Some of the names. Cang Xuan was called Zhuan Xu in the novel, Xiyan was Xuan Yuan, Haoling was Gao Xin, Chenrong was Shen Nong, Chi Chen was Qi Yo. - Xiao Yao's feelings for Xiang Liu is obvious in the novel. The drama made her seem cold to him and downplayed every scene of them together (ex: altering dialogue or parts of the scene).
Major changes pertaining to S1:
- Omitted scene: After hearing the mermaid's love song (S1E37), XL explains to XY that the clam shell is both a home and place for mermaids to mate and bear offspring. Eventually, XY grows tired from swimming, rests in XL’s clam shell, and has a happy dream about the ocean. When she wakes up, she gets flustered thinking about how XL views his clamshell and tries to cover it up by saying she’s hungry (Ch 26). This leads to the scene of XY cooking fish for XL.
Major changes pertaining to S2:
- Jing gave a beautiful proposal to XY in the novel (Ch 38) unlike the drama where XY suddenly interrupted and thanked him before he could properly propose (S2E11). - Only XY, Jing, and the Haoling Emperor went to see her mom Xiling Heng (Ch 36 / S2E15). All three spoke with Heng, not just XY, and it took place in a peach blossom forest (the spirit of XY’s biological father Chi Chen), not a house. - Omitted scene: Novel XY learned the truth about the bugs she shares with XL (Ch 37). - Added scene: That YaoJing kiss scene and XL feeling it (S2E16) absolutely did NOT happen in the novel. - Added scene: Novel XY was very sad when Jing died but never held a wedding alone (S2E18). - That dream sequence in S2E18 and S2E19 actually happened in the novel. CX really did kill Jing, not Xin Yue. He survived because XY didn’t poison him enough while XY was saved by XL (Ch 47 & 48). - Omitted scene: Xin Yue hired demons to assassinate XY. She was saved by XL. They met Left Ear (the slave demon from S1) who then became XY's bodyguard alongside Miao Pu. They spent a few days at sea. Before XL left, he gave XY a sea map (Ch 43). - Added scene: XY reminiscing about Qingshui Town and XL (S2E20) was not in the novel. - Drama XL used XY’s blood to heal her after killing their lovers bugs (S2E21 & S2E22). Novel XL used it to revive Jing (Ch 46 & 49). - In the novel, Jing’s death and CX’s betrayal led XY to become Royal Mother. Jing reappeared during her ceremony so she changed her mind (Ch 49 / S2E22). - Novel XY found out about XL’s death after her wedding to Jing. She was screaming, extremely devastated, and in disbelief. She then decided to leave for the oceans because “XL said there were endless uninhabited and uncharted islands, perhaps [her and Jing could] find a beautiful island to call home” (Ch 51). This is unlike the drama where XY quietly cried for XL before marrying Jing and leaving for Qingshui Town (S2E23).
Do you have to watch this if you watch season 1, or can you just stop after season 1?
You don't have to watch S2 if you prefer not to. It's just that the natural thing to do is watch it because it concludes the story. This drama was filmed and expected to be aired in one go but due to China's new rule saying dramas cant exceed 40 eps, it was forced to split into two parts (seasons).
I will say though... many people including me think that S2 isn't as good as S1, so if you liked S1 and would rather not ruin the good memory you have of it or believe the ending of S1 is already conclusive enough, then don't watch S2.
I wondered for a long time what the lyrics of Xiao Yao's OST mean and who it's meant for. After analyzing the…
? What do you mean? It's her defense mechanism; she keeps her hopes low and her heart guarded to protect herself from getting emotionally and mentally hurt. Some people use this as their defense mechanism in real life too. "Expect disappointment and you won't be disappointed."
if it doesn't work but the first link in my post does, then you can click that first link, click my channel name, and you'll see the video. hope this helps ^^
and yes i'll see if i can post it to the discussions

LilianKmei is saying that two people ended up dying:
(1) Xiao Yao's mother, Xiling Heng
and
(2) Xiao Yao's soulmate, Xiang Liu
They are not the same person. The sentence just lists both of them together because they both died.
I will say though... many people including me think that S2 isn't as good as S1, so if you liked S1 and would rather not ruin the good memory you have of it or believe the ending of S1 is already conclusive enough, then don't watch S2.
