Omg yes, this part right here! It's easy for people to think Jing is kind because they've never seen him do anything wrong PHYSICALLY. They don't realize that you can be verbally and emotionally abusive/manipulative too.

This drama is different from your typical romance where FL and ML love only each other and end up together.

There are four MLs in Lost You Forever, and the FL has a different relationship with all of them.

FL: Xiao Yao (Yang Zi)
1ML: Cang Xuan (Zhang Wanyi)
2ML: Tushan Jing/Ye Shiqi (Deng Wei)
3ML: Xiang Liu (Tan Jianci)
4ML: Feng Long (Wang Hongyi)

FL's love interests are 2ML and 3ML.

1ML's character and story is what drives the plot of Lost You Forever. He loves FL romantically but she only loves him like a brother.

4ML and FL are more like buddies. Neither of them love each other romantically. But he is an option for FL, in case her relationships with the other MLs don't work out.

At the end of season 1, FL and 4ML are engaged. The person who FL will eventually end up with at the end of season 2 is 2ML.

It doesn't matter if the leaked script is true or not. The story will still differ from the novel because of how short it is! 21 and even 23 episodes will never be enough to cover the second half of the novel. Tan Jianci/Xiang Liu's screentime will also no doubt be less in S2.

All hope is lost... and I'll forever be salty about the changes ☹️ But I will still be tuning in mainly for Yang Zi (the best actress ever and the reason why I watched LYF), Zhang Wanyi and his phenomenal acting as Cang Xuan, and of course Tan Jianci/Xiang Liu/Fang Feng Bei. I'm grabbing all the last crumbs I can get from him lol.

The only TINY sliver of hope - literally 0.00001% - I have left is that they'll play the OST 偏爱人间烟火 (Prefer Mortal Fireworks) by Yang Zi and Tan Jianci, NOT Hu Xia and Zhang Zhining, at least once in S2. I keep thinking how tragically beautiful it'd be if they only play it when Xiao Yao finds out what happened to Xiang Liu. 😭 Or maybe they won't play it at all.... because YaoLiu love is unspoken.

Huh? Cang Xuan may not be a good fit for Xiao Yao, but that doesn't mean he's useless. You have to remember that the reason why he did all that (including using Xiao Yao and Jing) was so he could have more power to protect Xiao Yao. Yes it's a crappy move and I'm not accepting his behavior, but I can understand his reasons. He's a very interesting and multidimensional character.

It sounds like you haven't read the novel or finished the drama yet so I won't spoil one of the major reasons why he needs to protect Xiao Yao. But since you said you have 8 episodes left, I'm sure you've watched episode 30 and 31. You saw what happened to Xiao Yao and why, right? If not for part of Cang Xuan sacrificing and trying so hard to become Emperor, you wouldn't see any more of those sweet Xiao Yao and Jing moments.

Feng Long is the cutest. No toxicity, promises to only marry you. Probably the only major con is that he might love Cang Xuan more than you lol. They casted the right person to play him. Wang Hongyi's smile is so adorable! I love episode 28 where u can see him trying so hard to impress Xiaoyao with the fireworks and turning her into his buddy with the games and wine 🤣 so innocent

i'm just pointing out the differences that i've noticed

between a character who is just kind and a character who is selfless, which one do you think will be the most memorable? why do some TSJ fans like/appreciate XL's character when they aren't his fan? even TSJ himself is grateful to XL.

imo based on what i've seen so far:

TSJ fans are just very passive. it's like... he's a nice guy and ends up with our female lead so we support him. that's basically about it tbh.

XL fans, on the other hand, find him memorable because of all his sacrifices and selflessness. XL has an advantage over TSJ because his popularity arises from a mix of strongly devoted fans + non fans who simply appreciate the character. i've seen TSJ fans who still like or at least appreciate XL, but i rarely see XL fans who like or even appreciate TSJ (and if they do then they probably just like every character lol)
