Ugh, why does Cassie Zhou always play the useless wife character? This is basically the same character she played in Like a Flowing River, except she's from a poor family in this drama so she has no excuse not to know how to do housework or cook or do anything. She's probably being typecasted but I can't seem to like any of her characters.
I legit have no idea why they added the character He Cong Rong (Mark) into this show, his character was useless and added absolutely nothing to the show.

Yeah it dropped pretty suddenly, most people that follow dramas literally found out about it less than a week before it started since that's when they announced the date
This drama really reminds me a lot of Ordinary Glory. Underdogs getting bullied and coming out on top.
I hardly ever hate drama characters because I usually don't care enough to hate them, but I just want to smack Chen every time I see him. Maria isn't much better.
I'm so glad Mark Chao is finally doing more serious dramas instead of idol dramas (let's face it, Eternal Love is xianxia but still an idol drama). He's really trying to be seen as a serious actor. His accent got a lot better as well (Ideal city is an improvement from Ordinary Glory, which he already did a good job), with trying to sound like he's from mainland.
It is slow but now that most of the episodes are out, I think its easier to watch - if you watch enough episodes…
I'm actually done with the show (some peoplle posted the rest of the episodes on youtube, probably illegally). The last 5 or 6 episodes move pretty fast to bring everything to light.
I'm not here for Lay, I'm mostly here for the story and Sun Hong Lei. It's a good drama but fairly slow moving, and sometimes the plot is all over the place. Some scenes are 10 minutes of him investigating...very slowly.
Great acting on all parts though. The actor that plays Ma Shuai, i always watch his dramas and he does a great job in all of them.
Her looks remind me a lot of Cecilia Cheung when she was younger
