Same it's fucking with my head more than the switching of the languages depending on the speaker
Sameee lmfao π The thing is, it's not only the languages that create the disconnect, there's differences in their "habits" (hand movements, expressions, behavior, elongation of words etc) & humor that is unique to each culture, & for the viewers who've been around for both Thai & Kdramas, it's a really really bad crossover that gives whiplash imo. Like genuinely, a person who's seen both Thai & Kdramas would NEVER in a million yrs say that there are any similarities between the two. Their overall tones + acting & artistic styles are wayyy different so it doesn't feel like a good match up :(
Anyhow, I'm just waiting for 'Let free the curse of Taekwondo' & 'Love in the Big City' to come out. Those are gonna be the saving grace of BL in 2024 for me π₯Ή
Maybe you not familiar with those type of series. Well for me its kinda cute (idk if you get me). Like its nice…
I get what u're saying, and yeah, to an extent I agree too. It's interesting to see people communicate in different languages & still understand eo but I think there's just something so sweet about taking that step & trying to use the other person's language (no matter how bad your attempt is) to communicate. It shows consideration & effort, but especially for this drama, the Thai ML is an exchange student, so it would make more sense for him to at least TRY & speak Korean, if u get what I mean π
But yeah, the dual language starts to get easier on the ears as you continue watching & doesn't bother as much
Not them doing the dual language concept again π As a person that understands Korean & has been watching Thai dramas for a while, this show is messing with my brain in a really bad way π₯²
Imo, Korean & Thai don't really work well for these type of projects since they have vastly different phonetics, intonations, tones and vowels that don't mesh well together, and make for a bit of a messy product auditorily.
I have nothing against using two languages in a drama, but it would've been so much smoother & realistic had at least the MLs used a few words from each other's languages. Or even just having the Thai guy speak in Korean a little since he IS an exchange student in Korea lol. Not to mention how the languages come with their very own "habits" such as the use of hands or overall how dramatic you are when speaking, so that's proving to be a speedbump in this drama's quality as well for me
Heavenly Tv confirmed that this is gonna start airing in October on their platform, with 2 episodes being released each week. We have no date yet tho :(
It's finally been confirmed that this is coming out in October!!!! πΎπ We'll get 2 episodes each week, for a total of 8 episodes on Heavenly TV ( other international platforms have not yet been confirmed).
I'm expecting that we'll most likely get the first 2 episodes by the third week of October, with the air day being either Friday or Saturday :) - this is just me manifesting, the date is yet to be confirmed. It could end up airing on Oct 5 or Oct 31 for all I know π
I support 4b movement and want such movements to happen in every country where Victim Blaming and misogyny is…
Fr! Us women need to stick together in tough times
Ps. It's vile how I saw comments from Korean men mocking the 4B movement & saying that there was a "defect" in women that didn't wanna be with them & that they'd just marry foreign women cause they "drool" over K-men. Like lmao, have you seen yourself and how dumb you sound? Yeah, nobody's interested in stupidity
It will dw, those boomers don't have much time left & the millennials are not gonna get to reproduce fast enough with the 4B movement... It's all gonna come together in a couple of yrs
I get what you are saying, but please do not exclude the men. The Korean legal system regarding violence is weird…
Omg I'm so sorry that happened to you! Sending you all the hugs, and hope you recovered from that terrible encounter π«
From all the news I've kept up with, I've now realized that Korean law is favorable to their people than foreigners and even more so for males when the case involves women. I mean that's what you get when you have a misogynist, homophobic, male supremist old man as your president.
Desperately praying that things change for the better all over the world for the women suffering rn π
I get what you are saying, but please do not exclude the men. The Korean legal system regarding violence is weird…
Ok, let me take a deep breathe... WHY DO WE NEED TO INCLUDE MEN IN EVERY CONVERSATION THAT TALKS ABOUT THE INJUSTICE WOMEN FACE!
My post aimed to raise awareness against a currently ongoing country-wide crime against WOMEN that involves over 300,000 Korean MEN! My bringing up of the misogyny that Korean women face does not mean I'm saying that other crimes do not happen. Everything else is going on at the same time, people are getting robbed, stabbed, murdered as we speak all over the world so by your logic, I'd have to include them too, no?
For once, let's just focus on one topic, which is how much women are being mistreated in SK instead of bringing up the "oh, don't forget so & so" ffs! Yes every country's justice system is broken, some more so than others, but the deepfake crimes taking place rn are something we can actually help with. Middle school girls are scared to go to school cause they don't feel safe with their male classmates! Can u imagine that? So for once, let the women talk about themselves w/o having ppl bring up random cases where the victims were men when it just as easily could've been a woman too.
Ps. in my post, I never specified a particular gender being the victim or the perpetrator (I said in general that we need to become a better society) EXCEPT for the Deepfake case where it has been confirmed that the target are WOMEN with the chat members being MEN.
This movie came out at such an important time. With the deepfake crimes and pedophilia happening in Korea finally coming to light through Korean feminists on twitter, this movie definitely helped put emphasis on the biased sentencing that sex offenders receive in that patriarch country. These sexual offenders get more protection from the government and aid through tax payers' money than most victims get support, it's insanely unjust.
I'd like to encourage everyone to watch this movie cause I had literal goosebumps throughout at how accurately they portrayed the dystopian reality of our world. Murderers & rapists roam around us carefree because there is no proper concession in place to hold them accountable. Hope we as a society will soon be able to make this a safer place for everyone by putting criminals behind bars for longer or better yet, bringing back the death penalty.
And can I please please ask everyone to show support to the Korean women raising their voice on twitter against the misogyny and assault they face in South Korea π My blood ran cold when I read about the deepfake crimes that are happening all over the country, involving MIDDLE SCHOOL girls, mothers, sisters and colleagues! Some of their testimonies are so heartbreaking where they confess to having caught their own brothers & fathers taking inappropriate pictures of them while changing or showering and circulating it in a second 'Nth room' group chat on Telegram!
FRRRRR, no once can convince me otherwise ππ His hand was already sneaking under Donghee's sweater π
Donghee got scared of taking it to the next level so that's why he stopped him π Totally valid imo, Donghee was acting more on his feelings & love plus cared about not hurting their parents whereas Ho Tae was more hyper fixated on the lust portion of his attraction towards Donghee. Yes he did stay by his side all the time like a puppy but he treated that as more of a "things that best bros do" & didn't even entertain the thought of getting together romantically (from what I understood) until like the end (internalized homophobia I'm guessing). I could be wrong but that was my surface level interpretation of their relationship. I'll give this movie a couple rewatches before I do a solid character analysis for them π (yes, I'm looking for excuses to rewatch, sue me)
And I can't wait to get started on those fanfics for AO3! ππ₯Ή

That and 'The time of Fever' π«
But yeah, the dual language starts to get easier on the ears as you continue watching & doesn't bother as much
They 100% have bilingual/different writers that are fluent in Thai or Korean, so why can't we just add a few dialogues to each of their scripts? π
And don't even get me started on the second-hand embarrassment I got from that drunk "Hyunggg" π

A good post to get an idea of what's currently happening in South Korea:

The misogyny runs so deep that the father doesn't even care his son sexually abused someone just because he's a "male" and needs to take the CSAT, like what?

It's been up for a few hours now! Spoiled myself too lol
