Srry for that long comment I didn't wanna leave anything out. Also this is just me guessing, but I feel like Minister Yu has something to do with DYX's past. In episode 16 you see Madam Du fearful when she hears his voice + when he was reprimanding his daughter and wife he kinda gave off a bad vibe even if he did exactly everything I was hoping for. At first I thought he might be the husband that left Madam Du bc DYX admits to ShouHua that he's an orphan bc his parents died in a boat accident and that Madam Du saved him, they're technically not related by blood. Bc of saving him Madam Du's husband left her and the whole village called him bad luck. However, the whole scene with Madam Du's attempt to commit suicide I think that Minister Yu might be his father or something. Probably left DYX's mom bc he sought more power, and that's why Madam Du apologized to her Ladyship about not raising DYX right and him resembling someone. Anyway that's just my guess though.

In case you don't know the Yu daughter was the one that caused all the trouble for ShouHua and her family. DYX talked to her father who is a minister about his daughters actions, and that's where this whole ordeal started. I thought they'd tell her to forget abt it, but it seems in episode 17 that they're trying the hardest to make DYX marry their daughter. DYX listens to Sang and goes to the Yu family to talk to them, and in the next scene you see his servant going to tell Madam Du and ShouHua that he got a prestigious position, so obviously his plea worked.
The whole family, even the son-in-laws, show up for a dinner celebration-one where DYX doesn't show up for the whole night. Everyone is trying to make Madam's Du and Li feel better about him missing telling them that his coworkers are probably keeping him busy and that he cannot afford to say no. He ends up not showing up at all, and later and son-in-law's 2 and 3 are out for a walk they see him getting off a carriage with the daughter of the Yu family, and he's seems very happy all smiles. After that DYX goes back home where he and ShouHua share a moment where she tells him about how her ex-mother-in-law tried to kill her when her husband died, and cursed her never to find someone to love again. She basically confesses her love for him in that moment, and he doesn't answer in turn and the end of that scene in his inner monologue he asks why she had to wait till now to tell him how she felt, and that there was no longer any type of future between them.
The next morning at breakfast Madam Du tells DYX that he needs to apologize to the Li family, and leaves ShouHua worried abt what happened asks DYX what happened. DYX then embarrasses her in front of Sang and the maid by saying that ShouHua was trying to sow discord between him and Madam Du-this causes Sang and DYX to both leave the table. In Sang's room he reproaches what DYX did, which leads to DYX telling Sang that if he believes that DYX isn't treating her well that his is more than welcome to marry ShouHua.

Later DYX brings in two new maids, who in really are there to be kinda like concubines for him. ShouHua makes them work bc literally everyone in the household works even Madam Du. DYX comes back later in the day and upon seeing how they were made to work reprimands ShouHua's maid you hear him tell her that he'll use a whip to teach her hierarchy. The maid runs to ShouHua and so she asks DYX what happened and he tells her that he left specific instructions that the two maids not be asked to do any chores. ShouHua is upset bc like I said earlier everyone works and even goes as far as to ask him if he wants her to serve them personally. DYX tells her that although he cannot reprimand his wife he can reprimand a maid, and goes to whip the maid-ShouHua protects her and ends up getting whipped herself.
That night ShouHua confronts him and asks him why he's acting like this, and he tells her that he only has two choices at the moment either to part with her or gain an unfavorable position in a distant place. He basically throws the ball at her telling her that he knows she shares a deep connection to her family, and he couldn't ask her to part with them and if he does they'll grow to resent each other so they'd better end it now. He tells her that they can divorce and that no one would blame her that everything would fall on him. Upset she grabs her things and heads to her mothers house, and DYX shouts at her that she's grown jealous of two maids and that sooner rather than later they'll become enemies. That if she dares to set out that door he will never allow her back in, and ShouHua leaves. The maids watch in glee and Madam Du hit DYX and tells him to chase after her.
ShouHua stays with her family and tells them what happened, and is still convinced he isn't telling her the complete truth, aside from that they are all convinced that DYX will show up and ask for the Li families forgiveness for what happened and everything will be okay. DYX does show up the next morning, but with a letter of divorce. ATP the mom is still hoping for reconciliation, but the sisters take him at his word and tell him to get out they their sister is better than he could've ever hoped to have and that he's a scumbag.

I am so upset about the Prince of Ning making Jiang take another concubine!! I was like it's gonna start getting good for them, and then this POS pulls out the uno reverse. I so desperately wanted him to refuse but I know that in order to keep his poly up he needed to accept. I hope this doesn't cause any misunderstandings between them!

so when she came home the mother chastised her for staying out late, and I’m assuming that it came out that she went to meet a man. so the mother hit her bc she thought the girl had slept with the man, outside of marriage, ppl would talk and the other girls would be outcasts bc of what she did so the mom was upset. later she tried to hang herself but was rescued in time. when she woke up it was revealed that although she did go meet a man he tried to force himself on her. there was a struggle and she hit him over the head with something and ran away. the comb I’m assuming here bc I think it’ll be said in the next episode was given to her by the man that tried to force himself on her. however, the comb was originally Chai An’s and that’s why he went to their house to get it. I think that the guy who borrowed it from Chai gave it to the girl telling her that it was from Chai and perhaps that Chai wanted to meet her. I kinda got the vibe that she liked Chai. I think that she didn’t tell anyone about who tried to defile her, but since Chai went to the house looking for the comb everyone thought it was him. that’s why he was slapped and got water poured on him bc they thought he was the culprit behind what had happened to their sister.

the way i didn't believe her when she said what she said, and then was flabbergasted when he was happy about it. ofc like others have said I don't think he really wants that to happen, but all I keep thinking about as I watch this drama is how he's gonna come back from his original plan, and if she finds out that he stopped bc of what's going on with her it's just gonna be devastating. bc I feel like we have two options here we get a miracle or shit happens.

it was so good! I loved it!! and honestly i think it was more that my days blurred together, and then suddenly the whole drama had aired. I'm glad i waited bc when i watch a drama that is still airing I tend to get annoyed that I cannot watch it all in one sitting, so i leave halfway and don't come back until months later.
Is it just me or do you all also want all the leads and supporting leads to end up with those of the other race? Like I'm kinda rooting for the crown prince and general Chi Lan simply based on how he looked at her when they first met.

Yes. I mean obviously there are some differences, but I love the fact that they have some of the same facial features which makes it more convincing that they are brothers. Plus I love the relationship they have hopefully they both stay good until the end.
I think there has to be some secret to her birth. When her father comes back it seems suspicious. Also, I love how the ML thought it was preposterous that a Qi male would willingly fall for a Qian female as the male would live for hundreds of years while the female would die in less than 100. All I could think was 'that's you you're talking about.'
