Okay, I thought about it for a bit and I reached the conclusion that I would have enjoyed Sky & Pai's story significantly more if it didn't touch on such serious topics like trauma and **** bc, honestly, MAME does not write these things well at all. Peat did fantastic in all the lighthearted, funny, sassy scenes in part 1, so I believe if the show kept that mood in the second part, I would have liked it more. Maybe if he had an overall shitty but not traumatising past relationship, it would have worked better into the narrative and we could have seen the actor excel more in the role. That's just me though.
The actor who plays Gun is like.. hot hot (apart from his voice).
But anyway - now that I have finished the series, not sure how to rate it. I enjoyed Phayu & Rain's story but not so much Pai & Sky's. The first couple had better chemistry, writing and story. The way they communicated with each other was honestly one of the best and healthiest ways I've encountered in BL. Slightly questionable beginning but the rest of the story was super sweet, they're really good together.
And as far as Pai & Sky's story goes... ya girl was BORED. I was no longer looking forward to the series each week, the chemistry was lacking and I found Pai's character lowkey annoying in how much he didn't take no for an answer. Peat was also not great in the emotional/sad scenes but performed amazingly in the sassy ones, so there's that. They also squeezed way too much in the last ep and oversimplified trauma and healing. I really did not like that...
I also got slightly annoyed at how dumb Rain was portrayed in the second half. He always was a bit naive but they really went to town in p2. I was also hoping for more Rain Sky friendship but we got completely the opposite. I was under the impression they're good friends in p1 but p2 kinda ruined that lol.
So yeah.. how do I rate this when I really liked only half of the show? :D
imo the show should've stopped after ep 7, 2nd half ruined the drama
100% agree. not sure how to rate it to be honest bc i don't wanna bring the rating down for rain and phayu's sake but man, the 2nd half kinda ruined it for me :/
This is one of the most boring last episodes of a (good) series I've ever seen. Can't believe we watched 30 mins of funeral/post-funeral scenes and the 10 minutes of more crying and reconciliations with characters that came out of the blue (it would have been better if the father was mentioned more in previous episodes bc I ended up not caring at all).
I know this series followed the book closely, however, I genuinely believe it would have been better w/o this last plotline of the mom dying or at least put the focus on different scenes and takeaways. Anyway, the last 10 mins were enjoyable but that's about it. Nonetheless, I really loved all the previous episodes and the series in general. Earth and Santa's acting was great, and Cake and Eiw's story was cute.
I felt so bad for Mamoru when his fan got a larger line than him... he didn't even get one person lining. :( I feel like the next ep would be a boiling point for him.
JAIL to whoever decided santa's hair should be like that
FR!! I think it's because he went blond for My Only 12%, and they had to dye black for this series and it's just not done nice at all. His hair looks fried.
bro watched his first spicy film, had his first kiss and lost his virginity all in like under 1 hr hwhwhw
ok, now seriously though - i am so happy that this is finally airing! it's gonna be my new personality until the end of the year lol. i'm also delighted we get glimpses of dean and pharm 's story as well (i saw some people were complaining about this) - i find it more immersive like that + i love dean and pharm. the last scene where win was asking team all the questions was ELECTRIC, very well done! i don't think we get to experience really good chemistry in BLs often but this so far is π
the only thing i don't get is why this has such a low rating??
I really don't like when any BL/GLs end badly, and this is pretty much a certain sad ending from how I see it, but I just can't stop watching. It's so nicely shot and the two main actors are doing a fantastic job. Koichi and Mitsuri really complement each other so well - they're adorable. <3
Apparently Gun who is Sky'ex toyed with him and made his friends to gang rape him (I feel sick) and even took…
ooof that's horrible! rain is very naΓ―ve that poor boy but i guess when you've not encountered evil, you tend to assume everyone has good intentions. hope he doesn't get the blame.
Today's episode felt so rushed, if I hadn't read the book I think I wouldn't have understood it.
hey, since you've read the books do you mind spoiling me about why rain seems to be the one leading sky into the situation with his ex? did someone deceive rain first? i kind of was hoping to find out what happens before i commit to watching the last ep.
reading someone else's diary feels illegal somehow lol. def did not enjoy that bit (but i understand it was necessary for plot development)! overall, i'm just not a fan of their dynamic. i can't seem to get into their story to the point i find myself super bored each week.
there seems to be a lot of praise for peat, however, i'm not the biggest fan of his acting when it comes to conveying emotions. he was great in rain's story - he does the whole sassy/sarcastic thing very well but everything else is a bit cringy, especially the crying scenes. would be interested to follow how he grows as an actor. :)
my favourite scene from this ep was rain having two separate conversations with sky and pai. however, i do wish they'd write him a bit less dumb. i swear they made this his entire personality in the second part. π
btw - if someone could spoil me on how sky ends up in the situation that he... ends up in the next ep, i'd be quite grateful. i couldn't find the book translated.
